This is a documentary movie dealing with the issue of scientists that want to teach/explore Intelligent Design (ID) being ostracized/blacklisted by the scientific and academic community. Losing their jobs or having grants taken away simply because they dare to say I don't think that evolution could have happenned without an outside force.

I read a lot of reviews attacking "Expelled" but the attacks typically miss the point. Whether or not we evolved, were intelligently designed or simply placed on this earth just the way we are by God, scientists should have the right to explore the science of all three of those concepts. Another situation very similar to this is any scientist who happens to disagree with the concept of ManMade global warming is blacklisted.

Evolution is a theory. It could be accurate and I understand why people who choose not to believe in God believe in evolution because they really have no other option. People who do believe in God have plenty of other options and they should be free to teach and explore these other options. That is what this documentary is all about.

There are some on the ID side of the fence who aren't looking at it from a "God" point of view. They see the numerous problems with Darwinian evolution and are simply looking for a theroy that doesn't have as many holes in it. ID is only one.

But I do agree with Stein in that the scientists should be able to pursue any theory. The one that is the best fit to the facts should win the day.

You would think that scientists would be welcoming of this. Isn't part of a theory trying to disprove it. Why are they against the theory of evolution being tested?

Well this thread is both religious and political so I will address the political side of your question. It is politics. Politically they want to crush any contrary viewpoint. As I pointed out the exact same thing happens to anyone who dares question man made global warming.

X1TX whether it is God or another higher power Intelligent Design theory is about a superior being controlling evolution. I am fine with God having used ID to create life on Earth but personally I believe in basic creationism. Evolution to me is a joke. Sure we have small changes along the way but their is no evidence of changing species ever. I think the only way one believes in evolution without ID is by a lot of faith. Still the point of my post is whether one believes in evolution, creation, ID, global warming man made or natural they should not have to fear for their careers to back the theory they believe.

Like I said, there are HUGE holes in the Darwinian theory. A lot of scientists who put forth the view may have done so from a theistic point of view, but the underlying theory is there to either be proven or refuted. Refusing to even discuss it does no one any favors.

According to the scientists interviewed in Expelled to even bring the subject of ID up is a waste of time.
Baylor university will not teach ID and they are a Baptist university.

THR do you think God just created us pretty much the way we are or did he use some kind of evolution. If he used some kind of evolution that is basically ID. I hope that helps with any confusion.
