I'm curious how many of you on this thread would buy a CD of Archy's if he wins AI? Would you be more likely to buy a David Cook CD?

I won't by Archie's (unless I start having trouble falling asleep) and honestly, even though Cook is my favorite, I probably won't by his CD either.

I think that about sums up my opinion.

But I really just can't see Archy having a great deal of commercial success. I mean, of the successful mainstream pop artists today (which is pretty much where AI is targeted) most sing a few ballads. But I can't think of one that's having a lot of commercial success where 90 - 95% of their songs are ballads. At best I think Archy has some success in a niche market. Heck, look at AI5. Chris Daughtrey has sold a LOT of CD's but Taylor's hardly been heard from. Not that either of these are 'bad' performers. They all have good voices and are pretty good performers. I just don't see Archy as appealing to the type of audience that will give him widespread commercial success. With Cook, I can.

So many assumptions are being made for this question. I will wait to see what music Archy makes after the competition is over before making any decision on whether to buy his CD. Same with DC or anybody else. I liked Daughtry a lot when he was on the show. His CD came out and it was way better than I expected. This years contestants could surprise us for better or for worse.

I think they will, but I believe it would be for better!! I know that right now they are under a lot of pressure, so I imagine as soon as they finish with the show, they would be able to relax a little bit and work it out for them to bring a nice CD that might go over your expectations!

Very good point. I do believe that most of the surprises will be for the better.
