Hi Adrian
I attend Southside AOG which is the largest AOG church in SA after Paradise and I can personally tell you that none of our Pastors have even suggested that we vote for Guy. In fact they have not even mentioned Guy’s name during the services I have attended.
Perhaps Pastor Andrew has e-mailed our senior pastor but he has said ZIP to the congregation.
…………………………….
Hi Adrian
Not grumpy mate, just frustrated by all the rumors !
Sometimes Christians get a bad wrap. I don't want Guy to win on the "oh, all the Christians all voted for him just because he is a Christian" line any more than the Shannon fans want the "he only won because of sympathy" comments.
I hope and pray the person how should win does win. If that is Shannon then so be it.
I prefer Guys voice, but they both seem like top blokes
God Bless to both guys

It's a Guy Thing
By Nui Te Koha
November 15, 2003
MUSIC heavyweights want Guy Sebastian crowned Australian Idol. As Sebastian and fellow finalist Shannon Noll await their fate by public vote, industry support has shifted to the Bro With the 'Fro.
"They are poles apart musically, but Guy has got a real talent," music guru "Molly" Meldrum said this week.
"They are both good for different reasons. Shannon is mainstream. He is more your Big Brother thing. He has that kind of appeal. Guy is a very good singer."
Nova FM music director Estelle Paterson, Renee Geyer and singing coach David Jaanz, agree on Sebastian.
Noll, a farmer, and Sebsatian, a teacher, survived a nationwide audition of 10,000, and a gruelling weekly sing-off to reach the Idol grand final.
Last week, Noll wisely covered Bryan Adams and Jimmy Barnes songs.
Sebastian stayed on the commercial fringe, choosing Jackson 5 and Beyonce Knowles.
Each performed a rendition of a new song, Angels Brought Me Here. Noll, whose father died in an accident, gave a highly emotional version.
"The real winner of Australian Idol will be BMG," said Geyer.
BMG Records owns the rights to Idol and will sign the eventual winner.
"I think Guy should win," Geyer said.
"He is a musician, he has his head screwed on straight and knows what he is doing."
Geyer said Paulini Curuenavuli, ousted three weeks ago, should have been a grand finalist.
Jaanz, who has taught Delta Goodrem, Tina Arena, Holly Valance and US star Anastasia, supports Sebastian.
"Shannon is a very good rock singer, but Guy is a freak," said Jaanz.
Paterson says Nova 100 FM will play Sebastian "no matter what".
"Guy has a great voice, he knows what he is doing and he is flat out talented," she said.
"I just hope they give him the chance to sing some really good songs. It really will come down to the songs."
Herald Sun
GO GUY!!
………………………
Nice to see some public support for Guy at last, I also noted that in this weeks NW magazine most of the final twelve finalists thought Guy should win. NW also had some amazing photo's of Guy in a suit !!!!
………………….
Guy did have the flu, and I quite liked his rendition to Crazy in Love. Turned out better than what I expected.
……………………
Guy has an outstanding voice to compete on international level.
I'd like to see Australia win. Vote for Guy!
……………………
this isnt star search, this is the biggest ever show of this kind and they needed a miracle to make this show work and they got one- Guy!
…………………
Guy is amazing for what he does, and what he does it pretty bloody intense
……………………
Ganesha post
For Guy, the sky is the limit,
………………..
(ummmmm – things started to get very heated and I might have to leave all this – but boy!! This post really sounds like it comes from GUY!!!)
Chill guys, this is the problem with the world all this hate and negative energy. Guy and Shannon both deserve your respect, to say Shannon was putrid/embarrassing is uncalled for because he was neither. I really dig Guy he is a cool dude, but his pompous and arrogant fans are beginning to turn me off him. Guy is a good Christian boy and he would be disgusted by some of the crap on this site. I suggest you take your superiority and shove it
…………………………..
Ganesha comment
………. Guy singing with a high voice or singing womans songs when in fact Guys vocal range is just larger and his lower register is a great deal more controlled
……………………
just for the record, total Guy fan here, in my eyes he's - talented, marketable, attractive etc. etc. An all round beautiful person.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
The same day he said that Guy plays around with the melody too much, he also said that people had asked him about Guy and he told them that honestly, in his opinion, Guy had the best, purest male voice in the whole competition.
what was with that nosering thang Guy had on his nose for Crazy in Love? I could have sworn it wasn't there when he started....but then it appeared....and when he pulled it off after the song finished, he looked suprised it was there. Any help on this one?
P.S. Guy sooooo totally rocked. Damn he has to win!!!!!
……………………………
Yeah, I'm feeling the whole Lennny Kravitz look...Lenny's sexy in a kinda unconventional sexy way I think
………………….
Just costume jewelery, was part of his image for that song. When he took it off he acted surprised , like "what the hell is this, a booger?"
He's got a great SOH!
…………………
No- i dont believe the reason Guy Sebastian is still a virgin is because he cannot find anyone to "shag" him. He has made the decision to remain a virgin before marriage, purely because he believes that sex is a thing for two people in love..(hence: marriage) as opposed to having numerous partners ..(hence: heartbreaks and pain). He also said that there is no difference between him and people who decide to have sex...its just a choice that he's made, and is sticking to it. He admitted that its hard, but he's going to keep to his vow. I reckon that's pretty damn admirable considering how young people are now losing their virginity. I also think the reason this has become public and is in the media is because its something he's probably being asked....he couldnt really shun their question with a "that's personal"...or.."mind your own businees" answer. Imagine that - they'd make up stories and rumours that would circulate and become massive. He told the truth, lets give him credit for that.
……………………………..
True.
Infact, there are a lot of girls who would like to "shag" him. Sorry but it is true
bye

When he (Guy) took an old and rather risky song (wonderful world) but completely changed the harmony and rhythym, my reaction was "Wow, this guy really has music coming out of his ears ". It was clear at that point that Guy had the creative and musical mind that it takes to stand out above the rest. Not to mention that he has an amazing control over his voice that even the professionals would envy (no, he's not a pro yet).
………………………
Both guys seem like nice blokes and are being supportive of each other. Why can't everyone else take heed and grow up this is not a war.
………..
post by worldtraveller
a world audience would go for guy's looks every time. you could put your house on that. he has star quality written all over him …….. , just look at the male singers, they don't conform to CONVENTIONAL good looks but have something different about them that appeals..
…………………………..
Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder... ……………….. BUT when I saw GUY... I became crazy in love... I cant take my eyes off him... he's like heaven to touch.. oooohhhhh I wanna hold him so much... just call my name GUY.. and I'll be there!!!!...
……………………….
Guy cruised through this with Climb Every Mountain. There were oodles of people (younger kids mainly I suspect) who hadn't ever heard of the song, despite it being from the classic Sound of Music and covered by some others. Guy took chances with arrangements and song choices and still came out shining. This is another thing that puts my faith in Guy to represent us; his proven ability to sell a song no matter what it is.
……………………………….
Isn't he just brilliant. I am going to be very bored after Wednesday, need a new obsession. One of the things I love is in the song "The way you look tonight". This is going to sound really lame; and yes I have it bad; but the way he says "Dont you ever change". The change word just melts me every time I hear it. Don't know why, I need to get a life I guess.
I owe a big thank you to Guy for giving me heaps of pleasure over the past weeks. Oh and the final note on Climb Every Mountain (WOW!!)
……………………….
(from poster 4213) My personal message to Guy (should he ever pop in here, God forbid).
'Guy Sebastian, I cannot believe how natural you are with the crowd and how comfortable you are on stage.
I was soooo impressed with you signing autographs right up to the last minute on the steps of the Opera House. It's like you were born to perform. Running up to your mum and dad at the end was priceless.
Thank you so much for the hardwork and determination you have shown throughout. You are a shining example to the rest of us.'
((((((((((((((((((Guy Sebastian)))))))))))))))))))))))
I know it's trite but I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy. It'll give the lunatics something to poke at.
Pass the bucket, Perleaze, etc. etc.

The end?
Guy: Readers' pick
From Sydney Confidential
November 19, 2003
THERE'S just one burning hot question doing the rounds today: Shannon or Guy?
Confidential has a soft spot for both the boys, but our readers have clearly chosen Mr Guy Sebastian as their Idol.
In the biggest response to a Sydney Confidential poll, Australia has voted for Guy with a convincing 71 per cent of votes going for the 'fro.
The shock results showed Shannon clocked up just 29 per cent of more than 3000 votes as of close of business yesterday.
………………………………….
Go Guy - you are amazing!!
………………….
I'm not embarrased to admit that tears of joy ran down my face. I only have to hear Guy's voice and the goosies and tears erupt. Definately the voice of an angel with a face and soul to match.
Thanks for all the joy Guy. Congrats.
……………………..
I know. What is it with Guy. I listen to his songs over and over and everytime the shivers happen. The hairs stand up, goosebumps.
I had the most stupid grin on my face when he sang the song, if he had cracked up I would have been a gonner.
……………………………….
I did. He was magnificent - and how did he do it without losing control with all that happening? Fantastic
……………………….
He is truly blessed!! as are we to be able to hear that gift of his voice.
I most definitely shed more then one tear, my heart rose in my chest and the hair stood on the back of my neck.... all those sensations that real music should do to people when it touches them!
……………………………..
although heard it on the radio this morning (Guy's) and must admit it is a pretty spesh song.
…………………….
yeah it was very emotional.. i was holding back the tears.. but guy was just so amazing.. and to see the final 12 again.. aww it broke my heart.. and especially levi
……………………..
I am trilled that Australia has come to it's senses and voted for him. Soooo proud of him! Guy will represent us with flying colors!
In another thread, someone has posted a news from Dortmund, Germany, that their radio is saying the the winner of Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian is the only real threat to Kelly Clarkson! Isn't that great?
……………………………
Manager to the stars Glenn Wheatley said if BMG wasn't in the picture, he'd sign Guy and Paulini tomorrow.
"They're both extraordinary talents. Guy is the winner for a reason and Paulini is one helluva singer!!!"
……………………….
Just to add something further. ****o said on a radio interview in Perth that if Guy fails like Bardot, Scott Cain etc then it will be BMG fault and not Guy.
I really really really really hope that BMG give Guy a good selection of songs and that they use his talent in song interpretation. I really hate to see guy fail because some jackass in BMG want to rush things.

I think they pulled their heads in due to all this controversy and allowed guy to pick a few of his own songs and im sure his creativity will b dislplayed upon the album, either way ****o is correct when he says that if guy was to fail it wouldnt b his fault but bmg's....but our guy is a true artist and he will shine above the rest of the others who have failed in the past with or without the crown of aust idol he was sure to sucseed... his voice is literally a talent we have had not alot of within the aust music industry and thank god he won or else there would have been alot of red faces for us all when aust idol comes along....but all has turned out well we have an amzing artist representing us and he will do us proud as he allready has win or lose in wolrd idol.
……………………
He was on Fox FM this morning with Tracey and Matt and said that he was given a whole bunch of songs to select from for his album
should he win (Shannon did the same thing), and he ended up giving the record company a bit of grief because he was veeery picky and
didn't like a lot of what they gave him... He also said that he wrote three of the songs on the album, so I can't wait to hear them!
……………….
guy has what bardot and the rest of the popstars fabrications dont. he not only has a voice, but musical know how to back it up. he plays and he writes, he wrote 3 of his album tracks, and he wont let BMG feed him carp
…………………..
(Following the Pepsi ad – shot the night after he was declared the winner)
God he's got beautiful teeth.
…………………..
He is so HOT!! I
ll drink PEPSI any day
……………..
he looks DAMN CUTE in that pic i must say!!!! mwah mwah mwah to guy
………………..
Oh his gorgeous... His a beautiful person!
………………….
GUY IS HOT!
………….
I'm not 16.....39 in fact (and married for 19 years) but I think Guy is cute - not "cute" - but cute.
I also think he's "hot" - not hot - but "hot" - but because of his voice.
His voice has a quality (and spine-tingling at that) that I have not heard in any recent artists. I have a teenage son and I give his music an open mind and a go because I remember my own teenage years. (He also loves Guy!)
IMHO this "guy" can sing anything.....anything. But then its only my opinion. Guy is a true blue talented Australian.
…………………
Yes he is.....wouldn't you like to get burnt! LOL!
Go GUY...you rock my world!
…………………….
Well I say HOT HOT HOT!!!!!
I'll add a few more if you need convincing. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and from where I stand he is soooooooo hooootttt!!!!!!!! The fact that he is amazingly talented and a beautiful person just adds to his appeal.
……………………..
Guy has such a great sense of his own "style" and looked so funky and adorable
…………………….
Being a dedicated guy fan, I have to say Guy is one funky dude with the moves. However, also have to admit Shannon is pretty special in the looks department, and has improved over the competition. Dude with the moves, he is not, but he polished up well at the Opera House. Liked the suit, had a bit of Keanu vibe in the Matrix (hmmmmmmmm Keanu).
………………………
Guy is plain adorable. He doesn't have the rugged handsomeness that Shannon has, but he has this cheeky charismatic persona and physical attributes, which make him shine just the same.
It takes all sorts.
……………………..
As for Guy, i only really admire with because of his voice and the way his personality has come across. I think he has an urban street look, very funky but it's his smile that lights up his face, it's a very sweet and sincere smile, i really like it.
………………………………………..
Guy is absolutely adorable and gorgeous, I love how he looks and the whole package..........the way he looks, moves, talks, walks, sings, etc .........to me anyway, makes him hot hot hot. …. its Guy who leaves me breathless.
……………………….
thought both Guy and Shannon's performances last night were world class. Good luck to both of them from here on, what a couple of fantastic blokes, they make you proud to be Australian.
………………………….
Hey everyone
Just thought I'd add a thought here. I've actually played in the opera house - I play classical guitar, and to whoever said the opera house is built for mics etc, its actually the opposite.
It is an acoustic environment, the stage usually has enormous glass rings which hang from the roof which project the sound, however these were raised for the idol performance and speakers, mics etc were used instead. This is why the sound may have sounded sub-standard, it is not an enviornment built for speakers etc. However, I agree with everyone else, with the right production it could have sounded a lot better.
It's no fault of the venue's however, with the right sort of music the opera house is one of the best musical environments to play in and I feel blessed to of had this opportunity - and to have played on the same stage as Guy!!
………………………
Paulini certainly did't let the sound faze her. And need we mention our champ--Guy absolutely owned the stage.
When you are a star, the spotlight can't blind you and bad sound can't put you off what you have to do, sing even better than what you normally do.
……………………..
Angels Brought Me Here
Going by what Guy has shown he can do, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did a remix of it using his arrangement skills. Chances are it'd be a winner too.
The current version has grown on me, though it's a bit sappy lyrics wise. Nonetheless, it's a hard song to perform well given the amount of variation between lows and highs not to mention tones. Guy did it brilliantly, and for all intents and purposes, Shannon didn't do half bad either despite my preference for Guy's.
…………………………..
ANGELS – AS IT HAPPENS
25 November 2003
Just read on another site that they have only made 140,000 copies of guys single.
Amarketing spokesman from BMG stated that they will not reprint it when it is sold out as they will then switch to focusing on the album. They only have a ceratin amount of singles to sell and then that is it.
Is this just a ploy to get us all to rush out and buy it right away.
………………………..
On news.com.au, they stated that they will re-print another 70000 singles. They will probably stop reprinting then.
However, I don't understand why they would actually stop re-printing.
……………….
Anyone know what the B-sides of the single are?
Rachel.

dunno but I've ordered my copies online (single and album) Just waiting for them in the post now.
…………….
heading to the studio tomorrow to attack ****o anyone want to come and join me. ill get my single one way or another ...
maybe i'm having bad luck but i couldn't see Guy's single at Sanity today. Did anyone buy it?
I DID!!!
bought it at Grace Bros..
sanity was sold out..
Angels Brought me here was ok.. but they shouldnt hav put When I get You alone from the live show in it
It was rushed and lacked quality
I heard them play the single in Pumpkin Patch and was surprised to hear "When i get you alone"....if they were to put a live track, i like it to be "Climb every mountain"
well i would off i could have found it...i looked in about 4 places and when i asked the guy some music shop he told me that i wouldnn't be able to get it today cos of late shipment or something like that>
Yes, I bought it from Trax today....the shipment was late in arriving so I had to go back after lunch.
Genotype, there are two songs on the CD "Angels" of course, and a live version of "When I Get You Alone", I agree with 'GuytoWin' if they had to have a live version they should have chosen "Climb Every Mountain" now that was breathtaking.
I was also a bit disappointed in his cover picture, it wasn't Guy at his best, I much prefer 'LeiLevuy's' picture under her name, perhaps they needed to consult with her in creating the CD cover
(no angels for NZ) Nope, they're staying within Australia.
I bought the single , too!! Guy is so A-mazing! It was in my local HUM store in Sydney!
World Idols - watch out!!
Me too! That is a Voice!!!!
I'd have gotten it sooner or later but the idol of the house ensured it was sooner rather than later, hence I got it yesterday. :>
I was there at HMV yesterday 8:30 am (Monday)... and the CDs havent arrived... i went back at 4pm that day and CDs have sold out (i was told) in the first 2 hours.. sheeeesh... HMV re-ordered more copies... I got my CD at 2pm today... and I pre-ordered the ALBUM.
way to go! I'll likely do the same. I've mentioned it before, but I can't remember ever hanging out for a particular album release like this before. I figure, it can't be due to all the surrounding hype, otherwise I'd have done this in my teens with artists I really liked then. (considering teens are prone to getting more hyped up :> )
Oh, and as for the "When I Get You Alone" being on the single too, I was actually rapt. It was one of my favourite performances. So much energy!
30 Nov 2003
No. 1 in EVERY SINGLE STATE! http://www.aria.com.au/state1s.htm
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
I'm soooooooooo happy for him, he totally deserves this!
One single down, many more to come!
4 Dec 2003
I just had a look at the charts, and Guy has just debuted at the top spot in NZ, and has gone gold. I was pretty sure that was going to happen.
I look forward to the next hit.......as long as BMG don't totally exhust poor Guy. When does he actually get to stop and rest
4 Dec 2003
According to news.com.au. He was able to take a break during the weekend. He flew home and enjoyed a game of tennis and his mum curries.
Hope BMG gives him more time to rest.

DEC 5 2003 – Angels had reached the highest (and FASTEST) selling single
Maybe u guys should read the other threads, ive given a review of the new album, im am 32 BTW and a music fanatic and i think given the circumstances he has done bloody well quite frankly, dont bother getting into arguments with morons who dont know their arse from their elbows. Read my review if u wanna know what to expect and also i mentioned his single is now the biggest selling single in Australian history. Guy has already pre-sold more albums than Scott Cain/Bardot/Scandalous COMBINED, let the sales speak for themselves hes alread made it baby!!!!!
I have been very busy at work for the past week and have not been able to buy his debut single "Angels brought me here". So this Saturday I took my arse for a walk and finally brought the single.
You can not imagine how many times I played his single. I literally put his CD on a "loop/repeat" cycle. Every time I listen to his song I just feel touched. His voice is simply manificent.
On a similar note, the second song on his single "When I get you alone" is also fantastic. I must admit that I did not like the original version...but Guy does it beautifully.
I know that Tall Poppy Syndrome is quite notorious in Australia. I hope that it doesn't hit him. He has a great voice and is a remarkable talent but I know many people will disagree. If Guy "falls" then Australian music will also "fall".
…………………………
I wasn't going to buy the single either, I thought the album would be more worth it, but my mum wanted me to get it for her, so I did... and now here I am listening to it as I type... It's just grown on me so much, and it's actually inspiring to me (I write stories/fan-fics and I can relate it so closely to one of my characters, it's kinda scary... LOL)
I buy singles all the time though. I went out and bought No Doubt's "It's My Life", only to discover that they were releasing it on an album with their other singles LOL But oh well... Until I get the album, I'll listen to the single... It's all about personal choice, really
………………………………..
Genotype, I totally agree with you. I listen to it over and over again. My kids are really into it too. Love "When I get you alone".
Tall poppy syndrome. Well, we'll just have to wait and see. They had to order extra copies of Guy's album and that has only ever happened to Elton John's Candle in the Wind Diana version, so I think there is a 'lot of support' for him.
…………………….
Ganesha, if it's any consolation, the Americans that I know already realize Guy has amazing talent. To quote my boyfriend (who happens to be american) after I sent him Guy's single - "I am blown away by this guy, his voice is incredible, Kelly is NO competition"%
When you rush something like a cd cover or video...what happens? IT ENDS UP LOOKING LIKE CRAP!
EVERYTHING should be re-done
- the single cover
- the cd cover
- the video
and for f**** sake, to the hair stylists, LAY OFF GUY'S HAIR! Guy does a WAY better job!
Guy is no. 1 for his second week. (New Zealand
i mean i think Guy is gorgeous either way becoz i love his voice and it doesnt effect me but they could have choosen 10 million photos from the AI series of him to use.they reflected him the Guy australia knows and he looks alot more happy and energetic in the other photos. BMG have really drained every bit out of Guy and he looks very very tierd in the photo on the inside of the album. i still love him and his music to pieces though..
saw Guy today and the fro was in tip top condition What a guy...there were so many people in Martin Place (this afternoon) to see him and he signed everyone's cd. Yep, EVERYONES! He didn't leave till everyone was happy. He was there from 12pm to about 2:30pm signing cd's and talking with fans. Aww...what a champ!
it isn't hard signing three letters but his warmth to his fans is much appreciated
General Reviews – Just As I Am
Hi all just listening to album now, picked it up from the store at 12.00 sharp (the moment the deliverer brought it into the store) and what i am hearing is fricken amazing for 6 days work ! Hats of to guy for getting this out and giving it the quality that i didnt think it could have !!
Highlights for me are the songs guy has written -
Tracks
5
8
12
oh and track 7 is beautiful as well !!!
Ciao Peeps @@@!!!
I got mine yesterday. I've been listening to it over and over and over.... LOVE IT!
My faves are 'i 4 u' and 'something don't feel right'.
Both written by Guy, so great effort on his behalf.
LUV the album, but whoever thought of ommiting the songwords should b SHOT!
I love the album.. Great songs and in such a short time. Imagine what the next ones going to be like when he can take his time! I hope he has long term success and isn't forgotten when the next batch of idols comes along. Guy has major talent and I am still in shock that he had to go on a television show to get a record deal! I am so happy that he is doing well. I hope his fans continue to support him in the future long after the hype of idol wears away. I know I will.
It's a feel good album, and the more I listen to it.. the better it sounds.
Fav song on the album would have to be 'Can you Stand the Rain' ... maybe cause I've always loved this song anyway, but hearing my Guy sing it... woooh, so nice.
Stand outs are the songs that Guy wrote himself. All in all, for a six-dayer - it is the BOMBAY album!!!!!
As I wrote somewhere else....I'm so jealous!! I want a copy, but can't get one.....but who else sang 'Can you Stand the Rain' ?? to jog my memory. I can't "hear" that song at the moment
Awesome album from an amazing talent.
This album is so fresh and unique. Love the entire thing, but 'I 4 U' and 'My beautiful friend' are stunning.
Can't get enough of that boys voice. When do we get another album?????? I can barely wait to see what else he has in store for us.
Love him, love his voice, love love 'just as I am'.
keep it up kiddo

you go guys!!!
luv everybody here...coz u all love Guy's album
just like me...it rocks i love the songs and its true the more u listen to it the betta it gets...GO GUY..
i so cannot wait for the next album to be released...
thats gonna be ages though...damnnnnn
go leilou, surely we will all be supporting Guy even after the whole idol thing starts to fade becoz we all have faith and believe in him. he is an amazing talent and shouldnt have even needed Australian Idol to get a record..thank god that Australian Idol discovered a hidden talent in the state of adelaide.although AI did discover alot of other talent like Levi and Bek, they rock!!!! all 3 of them
Guy has a voice I could listen to forever....Love all his songs.....love all the other songs he's chosen....love the entire album.....absolutely love what he's done with 'When Doves Cry'.....is it just me or has he made that song sound really sexy or what?......it's probably just me. lol!
Had the album since monday and have played it heaps - it's awsome ! There wasn't one song on it that on the first listen I didn't like and it just gets better the more I play it.
Something there for everyone I think and I can't wait to hear him sing some of them live at the concert in January. I hope he tours by himself next year sometime, I could listen to him for hours
my little sister has bought guys album and she hasn't stopped playing it since.
ON DEC 5, 2003 – HIGHEST SELLING SINGLE EVER – so that’s from um – the Monday after he was declared winner, to that date…
GANESHA’S REVIEW OF JUST AS I AM
Full Review of Guys album
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------OK but its not really fair on him, its one quick listen and i think you need to let songs sink in a bit.I will be basing this on other stuff i have heard like this ok. Ill tell you this, its a bloody decent album considering, and the real stand outs to me are his own tracks which i gotta tell you is a HUGE accomplishment considering the quality of songwrites here on this album. I am nothing but impressed by this album, i would LOVE to hear it produced more extensively but we cant have everything. I just hope the singles get more work done to them is all. I SO want 'i 4 u' to be the next single, its the standout.
1. Angels brought me here - you know it
2. So I - is funky, great hamonies, lyrics a bit soft 8/10
3. Can you stand the rain - sounds a little John Farhnam in bits with that run down on the , a bit 90's r&b ala Boyz 2 men, very slow, a bit Spice Girls in the chorus. 6/10
4. No one can compare - great stevie wonder synth. Great r&b love song, very now. I love this one alot. Cruisy, a lot like Lauren Hill in many way, great. 9/10
5. All I need is you - is his own, its been recorded quickly obviously, a little weak on production. Very similar style to everything else here which is good. Nice writing, he definately can pen a tune. Its a bit more dancey track. Doesnt get me one second listen as much as the others above 7/10
6. What a wonderful world - where the hell is his vocals, could be my headphones but his vocal is way too low in the mix, great harmonies again. Some of it sounding borderline 80's though. Different to the live version. Its even got a little Indian fake citar thing going on, sweeeet. Still a bit weak on 2nd listen. 6/10
7. my beautiful friend sounds a bit Spice Girls to me, very much like Goodbye if you remember that one! Not my fave, youve all heard 6/10
8. another guy song - sounds very very very Craig David (be careful Guy you are better than him, dont copy). Still ---Great second single, put some more work on this as a single would be great, needs more beats. Needs beef. 8/10
9. When doves cry - Great slow start like the live version but obviously longer, piano you know, very nice, very late night - i love the funked up bit, starts with acoustic guitar then the beats are exactly the same for a while, couple of silly synthesised bits chucked in. Great chunky harmony 9/10
10. Just as i am - slower, big synthes, ballad, sounds very american, a little dated. Chorus gets a little Michael Jackson. Sounds a bit like Your are not alone. 6.5/10
11. Words - mid paced, another a little like C David. Great bridge, great chorus saves it. Bit like mid 90's soft Prince, bit Destinys Child in bits. 6/10
12 i 4 u - A GODDAM KILLER TRACK - This is Guys song and its bloody brilliant song. Im not going to tell you how it sounds, very individual, I just love this song, very modern with this amazing harpsichord work on it. This is the clincher for me, ends the album on a major high. WELL DONE GUY.
This album is a hit no doubt, it wont be off the top 10 charts till February, guaranteed. Go buy it people on Monday and enjoy.
JUST AS I AM – DEC 15 2003, 5 PLAT. SOLD in one week
Guy's album has gone #1 in the Aria charts being 5x platinum and his single Angels Brought Me Here still #1 single.
Go the Fro
Love Guy!

…………………..&**************
From the beginning I adored Guy but I thought 'nah he is too GOOD and too talented to win, people wouldnt 'get' how different and unique he is'
(I was wrong thank the bloody lord)
Winners Story
i watched.
my thoughts are that they are pushing him way too hard and he may collapse. He's got 6 bloody days to record an album and it's just bloody ridiculous, i believe making an album takes time because that's how you get really quality tracks. If it wasn't for his great voice that i'm eagerly waiting to hear on the album, i don't have much hope for it, in terms of it being a personal album that comes from the heart, will be looking forward to the songs he has written very much.
they showed alot of things that has already been aired.
…………..
And 32 radio interviews in one day!
The poor boy
……………
Awww, Kayti that is awful! I totally agree with you, an album should come from the heart and take a long time to develop - not JUST six days!
I also place faith in Guy's professionalism and humour to get him through the next few hectic days.
…………..
Shots of him in the recording studio showed horrid black circles under his eyes. The man in exhausted. Ok, they did say it would be gruelling etc, but if they drive him to the point of exhaustion it will be in nobody's favour.
All this hurry up and get it done business is BS. Take 2 damn weeks extra and give the man a chance to feel what he's doing. I have complete faith in Guy's professionalism too, and in the beauty of his voice. Thing is, for all the bloody hollering everybody's been doing on the importance of voice etc, BMG aren't particularly respecting Guy's much given the way they're pushing him.
All in the name of capitalising on the hysteria of the moment that is sure to provoke impulse buying along side the true sales made by true fans. I don't think that the strain this can put on Guy's voice can ever be repaid with a few thousand more cd sales.
My catch cry towards the producers of this whole thing continues to be SHAME ON YOU for more reasons than one.
As far as tonight's program goes, it wasn't a bad effort in itself. It was inevitable that there would be a fair amount of footage shown at other times. It wouldn't be possible to put together such a theme show without it.

…………………………
he's been rushed and there is no time to take it all in, to actually feel some of the stuff he is singing, knowing Guy, he's someone who makes every song his own so he can deliver it from the heart, i don't see how 6 days can do that for him.
………………..
I loved the show especially the part about how close he is to his mum, being a mum myself I can relate to that. I am also of a similiar cultural background as Guy and family is very important to us, especially our mothers who we put on a pedestal. His mother is obviously a very loving person and thats where Guy has learned his kind and gentle ways, he will always have his family as his rock in times of trouble.
………………….
How money-faced can they be? Guy's turned into a 24/7 money-printing machine!!
Concerts, recording, World Idol competition, interviews, promos, all in the mighty space of 1 month.
It's a happy winner's story, because Guy won. But like everyone else, I feel sorry for Guy, and his fans. They are not going to get a perfect debut album from Guy, which will seriously compromise his career. It's a sad winner's story, because BMG etc are the true winners.
……………….
think they are pushing him too far and he will eventually burn out. Cosima was the first victim and next will be guy.
everyone rideculed cosima for being tired and worn out but the same is happening to him....
give him a break at least a couple of days
……………………
How bout the camera thingy were he feel more stressed with camera following him around
…………………
Does anyone know when Guys ALBUM comes out?
is it before chrissy?
and when is the exsct date its coming out? cool
thanks people!
…………….
Guy Sebastian, 2003's Australian Idol, releases his debut album, "Just As I Am", December 7th
…………….
the whole rush is for x,mas sales, i couldnt do what this man has done and with such equinamity. then to world idol. they MUST give him a break on completion of the album or there will be a riot, come on mrs sebastian, see to it....
………………..
I just realised that BMG should thank their lucky stars that Guy is their Australian Idol. Since some of their work is so dodgy (ie. video clip, rushing out an album in 6 days etc etc), if they didn't have GUY (ie. someone with GREAT TALENT) …………., BMG would be the laughing stock of the entire country.
…………………
If he can handle this great rush and stress, and I belive he will for I truly think angels are with him, then he will know that he can be up for any challenge the industry can present.
They MUST re do that video though. They simply cannot present that to the world. I remember they talked so much on the show about 'raising the bar' yet when it comes down to it BMG are the ones lowering it ...
They have all the ingredients whats with them ?
I loved winners story . So did all I know. Guy is so lovely in every aspect of himself . hes one I can seeing nevr being a disspointment . His song 'my beautiful freind' is wonderful and we are already interested in using it in some seminars we run. I was thinking I'd rather pay him songwriters fees than any other writer let alone pay the record company - The singers dont make much from albums as we know. So support his songs ! Maybe next single will be one of his own.
He is an amazing songwriter...it wont be long till he doesnt need anyone else to help him....
God bless Guy 1000xxxxxx
PS : and doing pepsi adds ...hmmmmm....weird....... Jacko coming down and Guy rising up to the new worldwide king of pop? I reckon hes that good. And Ive been around this scene all my life, in one or another. I love that so many people can see Guys amazing gifts ... for IMHO So many great singers have fallen by the wayside because they wernt ' in fashion' enough. Guy arrived at the right time .
aaaaaahhhhhhhhhaaaahhhhhhhaaahhhhhh
……………………..
Didn't you just love the cute little grimace he put on as he was forced to give his opinion of the 'guys on the piano singing at the auditions'?? I loved how cute he looked when he said "they sux they sux"..... and the reference he made to the 'angry guy in the toilet singing with a nose ring'... "I thought he was going to kill me I was so scared" LOL that was too cute...
Mrs. Sebastian should be proud, she's raised a God-loving, people-loving wonderful boy
……………………………
just watched it and it's awesome!
He's the cutest ! Go Guy!!! and that beautiful friend song is really good!
He looked really exhausted though.
Go Guy!! ♥
……………………
I loved Guy's performance on Rove. His voice is fantastic and it reinforces the fact that Australia have chosen the best damn singer in the contest.
But alas even a 5 year old could see that he is very TIRED (eg. dark circle under his eyes). If what he said is true, he will leave for London on the 12th December. This means that his album is released on the 8th and he will have tons of promotional work until the 12th.
Guy, you probably not reading this but my heart goes to you. You won the comp because you deserved it. I hope you get some sleep and slog your way through this hectic period.
I know I will buy your album and any future albums.
Good luck Guy!
………………………….
I so agree. His tiredness really touched my heart and I felt all motherly toward him. He cant put hs whole self into this album if he doesnt sleep. It will lack zing. Have a rest Guy its not worth it !
I thought he was great on Rove, voice as sweet as ever but he was not 'all there' IMO ' Go to bed boy !'
Love Irene
…………………
I hope BMG forks out for a good business class seat to London for Guy and don't just shove him in cattle class.
I have been to London from Oz and its a hell of a long way when you are stuck in a small squishy seat.
………………….
guy was great but did you notice how the drummer was way out of time with the backing track???
Luckily guy has good stage presence and that brill voice and kept me entertained anyway...
……………………..
Guy is the one who works himself so hard. He is given down time but uses that time to fiddle with his music, he could have rested before the grand final but he stays fiddling in the studio.
………………………..
I am a huge Shannon fan, but must admit, Guy was great on Rove last night.
He looked and sounded so professional, not straight off a competition.
Good on him, hope he does well.
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
He sounded and looked awesome.
Looked a bit tired though - BMG are working him into the ground (three hours of sleep a night is NOT enough) but he still managed to be his usual bubbly, gorgeous self.
……………………….
Ganesha, if it's any consolation, the Americans that I know already realize Guy has amazing talent. To quote my boyfriend (who happens to be american) after I sent him Guy's single - "I am blown away by this guy, his voice is incredible, Kelly is NO competition"
…………….
Ganesha and OhMyDear have been debating the 'Cover' scenario of whether a cover is a cop out for a true artist. Just wanted to add some of the covers I believe were better for it and what a sad world the place would have been without them;
· She's not there - Santana
· Unchained Melody - Richeous Brothers
· I fought the Law - The Clash
· My Way - Sid Vicious
· All along the Watchtower - Hendrix
· Little help from my friends - Jo Cocker
· Hello - Guy Sebastian
………………………………..
What would the world be without "When Doves Cry" by Guy. I'm impartial to Guy, well not impartial I do like him but he's def not my fav. I didn't get his single or album or anything but I still have to say that THAT SONG KICKS ASS when done by the fro. Omg funky and fun... and that slow bit at the beginning? I wanna sing like that
…………………………
tormented, have u seen this yet??

OMG - he's sooo sexy, I'm think I will die of frustration.
PS: I think ****o's got it bad for Guy too, judging by what he's been sayin in recent news.... Well get in line, ****o & wait your turn!
haha! nah, like the papers have said, ****o's "downright maternal" when it comes to all things guy now. i think it's great how he's seen the light that shines from guy...he's soooo beautiful
oooh, have u seen this gorgeous pic of guy?? it's one of the best!
http://www.xanga.com/home.aspx?user=jpychang
wish IIIII just bumped (!) into guy...
ol, i think guy has that effect on a lot of ppl...
in the latest issue of WHO (where u can see guy dressed as elvis!!), i heard that ****o says something about the effect guy has on women; something like able to make them cry and at the same time as causing great sexual frustration...
GUY Dressed as Elvis
QUOTE: I love a girl who is confident, yet humble... beautiful, yet doesn't need to bare it all to prove it.
I love Guy's hazel eyes as well.. I'm so jealous as they do change colour in the light - light/dark brown to a goregous green colour.
I think what I love most about him is the way that he is, as a person (well as much as we see him in the public eye). Admittedly, when I first saw him I didn't really go too much on his looks, but his incredibly nature, sweet heart and of course beautiful voice compltely changed my perception of him physically

Went to Metro church tonight, the Church Guy helped launch a few weeks ago (see the beautiful downloads of Blood, I surrender All, and Falling in Love With Jesus - he also do his pop set to get everyone revved up first)
Full and total house - 4th week in. No - he's not there, but they play an opening type mix of the launch in the foyer - and its noticeable how many young females there are, and families
however, Nick V was the speaker today - and HE is truly amazing too. I'll find his website and pop a link. Truly, truly amazing.
Oh, and we've looked at the Metro Launch dvds twice in the last 24 hours - analyzed them to the 9th degree
Guy is simply .... word fail me here which is unusual. But he may be the most powerful and emotable singer I've ever had the grace to hear

From Cherub to Aurorab (Atlanta, USA) Jan 2004
It great to see someone from America is a fan of Guy's. I'm so glad you have picked up on his talent from World Idol. I certainly haven't been this interested in any singer for quite a long time. (I often wonder what's got into me, I have really surprised myself by being so obsessed with him).
Anyway, I find Guy to be a breath of fresh air in a world which seems to have so much negativity. Although he is musically gifted in a variety of ways (his amazing voice, knowing about arranging, recording, coached kids with their vocal training, and being able to play some instruments - piano, guitar, drums a bit etc), and is a great performer who hypnotises and mesmerises his audience with his stage presence, it is his character which is just so appealing.
I believe it is this facet of Guy, possibly more than anything else (including his hair!) which has given hope and heart to people who have lost a bit of faith in human nature. His conservative moral values (belief in God and regular church attendance, no sex before marriage, no drugs, no smoking, no or very little alcohol), his being part of an intact and supportive nuclear family - a 'mummy's boy', having politeness, respect and consideration for other people, along with a positive attitude and good sense of humour seems just so at odds with what we are accultured to in both pop/rock singers (the 'sex and drugs' image of rock and roll music), and with young men in general.
IMO Guy is the embodiment of an ideal of days gone by.
He is an outstanding role model, and his appeal is just phenomenal with young fans here, especially the young women.

The Influencers Conference - Thursday night - TD Jakes and Guy Sebastian
just come back from the Influencers Conference
TWO things I discovered while there in Adelaide, and loved
1 -
I viewed some footage from Mawsons Lake - and saw the final construction of Trade This Love - he'd sung it acoustically before so not with full band.
It was fascinating to see him move Derek off the drums and give him the run down how he wanted it, just how he envisaged it - he was completely at home, not looking at the drum kit but talking to Derek and banging away so naturally. Emphasis here and there - then back to the mike (sound check for Mawsons) and demonstrating where and when plus doing the sound check
then over to the guitars - where Carl, who I believe has written this song with Guy and who has already played it acoustically at some gigs with Guy, was standing with CHristian, the bass player. Guy took up a guitar and showed how he envisaged it all hanging together there with the whole of the band.
and THEN Prinnie would come up and there would be talking and she finally would give a thumb up to show she got it.
Just fascinating - the MAN takes over, the diva, the writer, the musician - even in the "director" set of his shoulders - we could see and hear his instructions because he was using the time for the sound check too. (And yet he coped with the pedal boaters who kept coming up asking for an autograph if he should be so crass as to stop for a single second - and he was so good, smiling and thanking them, and crouching down - EVERY man should have such patience)
and
Oh, glory!!!!
"I wanna be a miracle.....!!"
Guy sang on the first night for T D Jakes (Thursday). I have been so desperate for a live viewing of him, so extraordinary is his power on the stage.
ANd he caught us unawares.... it opened with the marvellous African group who were fantastic - you must picture his old church - the biggest in Australia - think as huge as convention centres - and that's only the main theatre! The choir at the back, the big band, and the two streams of the beautifully garbed Africans coming down the aisles and up onto the stage. And the beat was fantastic... it really got us going.
ANd they were singing on the stage and suddenly Guy sort of appeared there amongst them - rock gospel, complete with rasp, rough - raw TOTALLY EXHILARATING!!!! You couldn't stop clapping if you wanted to!!
The delight, the pure charismatic pulsing envelope that comes over...
He also came back to sing "Falling in Love With Jesus" with the choir - beautiful. You don't have to ask whether he is just 'singing' this, because you can SEE (thanks to the huge screens which are part of that church) his face - almost enough to make one shy of watching him, so beautiful is it, so full of that power.....
I have no other words for Guy, live.
When he's on the stage it feels like the world is so very wonderful, and when he leaves the lamp has been turned down a little.. wub.gif
