GUY is so very very far ahead of the rest its scary, the man is capable of more variation, individuality and soul than just about any artist currently out there. This man is a genius talent.

One thing I will definitely agree with, is that Guy is not only a wonderful singer, but that I too admire his modesty. I can't say I've seen anything to make me think he is at all vain. Despite him being labelled as shy sometimes, I think this person was born to be in the spotlight. He's a natural. It's something that should work in his favour and imho deservedly so.

As a matter of fact my cousin works for ****o and has spent a good deal of time with all these performers and guess who she said was the most down to earth, the most accommodating to the fans, the nicest to all the staff, im afraid it wasn/t ……………….. it was Guy. You guys must be quite young and i can appreciate that you may not have had the chance to get much perspective on these performances and this is part of the dilemma with this sort of show. Simple fact is that there are thousands of people who have done a thousand times better than ……… . This was …………. first go at this music and it showed, now a couple of nervous hip swings and elvis impersonations wont change that fact. I can only repeat that on a global perspective - is way way out of his league, doesnt mean he wont get there, doesnt mean hes not talented, however for all thats good and merciful,
Guy is already there, he has worked harder to get there, he dedicated himself to his art, perfects it, im afraid a few gigs at the pub cannot with all sanity be compared, cmon people. There is only one person here when comparing each of them that is the winner....clearly the winner.

If ……………… wins all it will show is that once again Australia is 10 years behind America and UK, it will show just how shallow our knowledge of world class talent is, Kylie is where she is because she left the country, as did Inxs, as did LRB, as did ACDC, as did Darren Hayes, as did Peter Allen, as did Bee Gees etc etc etc. These people have it, ……………. as yet does not. Sweety one visit to these people does not give you a basis for judging character, however someone who had spent day after day with them DOES. Again, perspective please..

Well, my worst fears were confirmed on Inside Idol tonight. The winner's first single has already been decided, none of the Idols had any input. Songs have already been selected for the winner's album, the Idol winner will have minimum input. Only two weeks to record and release the album to the public. And did you see the guys who are going to be producing it? They look hopeless.

Maybe this kind of deal is okay for Cosima or Shannon who don't seem to possess any song-writing skills, but for Guy, it would be a complete outrage. His talent stretches far beyond just a beautiful voice - he can arrange, he can compose and he can play instruments, and to completely stifle his creativity would be an absolute traversty.

Having said that, if this is what Guy wants (and according to his brother on his fan forum, it is), hell, I'll vote for him - but I'm worried. Very, very worried.

I agree totally that it would be criminal to stifle Guy's creativity that way, but I'm sure he will get the chance to strut his own stuff later on. He seems like a natural, so I've got faith in him that he'll find a way to shine either way. Some stars are just too bright to cover up!

hopefully the name Guy Sebastian (and a few others like Paulini's) will hold their own!!!

in reality if his first album is mostly manufactured - at some stage in the future there will come a time when he will do his own thing on his own album and if the path to get there is to go with the 'manufactured' thing for the first album then so be it....

Also let's not forget that Guy has a knack for making any song sound amazing and adding his totally unique style to it!

Well, Guy posted this on his fan forum late last night:

<< hey guys just writing about the manufactured album thing. The first single in the idol format is the same around the whole world. its always the song that is sung on the first show. To tell u the truth i love the song! its absolutely beautiful and probably would have chosen to have it on my album anyway. its gonna be manufactured to a certain extent, but that little bit of sacrifice for the first album gives maximum exposure and an incredible launching pad to do your own thing the way people really want to hear it, totally music and not a tv buzz. I will be really disappointed if Guy is eliminated...he has been my favourite from the beginning. I am not looking forward to the show ending as I'm going to miss seeing him sing each week. I hope anyone who likes Guy will make sure they vote this week!

Out of all three the only one who touches my heart is Guy he puts soul in his voice its not just about hitting those notes ……………….. the winner, its all our vote for not smsing and leaving it all to the teenagers. Can't Take My Eyes Off You: I'm so glad that he decided to do this one instead of Hey Jude because it was fantastic! He sounded awesome, he was energetic and worked the stage, he was a total crowd-pleaser. I had a big dopey smile on my face throughout the entire performance.
Climb Every Mountain: Wow. Beautiful. I'll admit that I had my doubts, but he washed them all away when he brought me to tears. He sounded absolutely amazing and believed every single word he was singing and yes, he did miss the note on the word 'rainbow' towards the end (which made me cringe) but more than compensated by finishing it off brilliantly. All I can say is, if …………………. win Idol over Guy, I will not be very happy at all.

In the end, I desperately want Guy to take it out. He is the whole package and would more than do us proud at World Idol. It seems that the judges are favouring Guy
at this stage too (smart people), so we'll see what happens.

Unless there's a magician in the house, I HIGHLY doubt Guy's performances tonight could have been any better. In the midst of things, whilst accepting your point, missing one note was nothing compared to the rest of the dazzling singing he gave. One thing we always need to remember; these performances are live - they aren't digitally remastered and mixed recordings. His performances tonight especially, topped a mountain of established artist studio recordings.

Nothing but praise for him, and that's coming from a vocal Cos fan.

Can't Take My Eyes Off You: I loved this performance - very energetic and great song choice. There was such an overwhelming response from the crowd as well.

Climb Every Mountain: It was obvious that the audience & Marcia was absolutely Crazy with Guys performance. I thought he did a great job but unfortunately, wasn't head over heals with it - perhapes you had to be there to be drawn. To me it was the first time I witnessed Guy sing from his heart and it was terrific to see that, but at times I was wondering whether he was feeling a little uncomfortable with those high notes. Overall, strange choice of song (can't really blame him, Shannon chose his "Hey Jude") but was still really good.
Guy had the best performances for the night! 9.5/10

I agree that Guy by and large knows how to nail the emotional centre of a song. In Climb Ev'ry Mountain, he was in a rapture towards the end and he jumbled the lyrics, wailed, cried, implored, all in the tradition of gospel singing. But right at the beginning, he sang the first two establishing verses mostly sweetly, as a angel would. The song built and built and exploded with a flood of emotions. The original version was sung by a Mother Superior to a novice nun as a piece of advice. Guy made it an inspirational piece, it was a truly world class performance.

"I'll be there" will be good. It has just the right build up and anticipation for the crowd to squeal and get all excited. I can picture Guy now looking skyward and warbling the top notes. He'll sell it, no worries. "Billy Jean" would've been more of a challenge. I think Guy's playing safe and I think that's wise.

I am a bit of an old fart so didn't know the song by Beyonce he had chosen. So I went and found it and had a listen hmmm I reckon he could do something with it, oh I hope so. But what makes me feel good is the fact that I haven't disliked anything he has done so far so I am sure he knows what he is doing.

I was a bit surprised that Guy chose Crazy in Love as his second song. I'm crossing my fingers in the hope that Guy won't make a fool out of himself. Past history tells us that Guy is good of making offbeat songs his own so I guess I don't have to stress that much.

Just listen to the voice, music and the performance, (as was the audience when Guy finished Climb evey mountain - nonone here is Austrian fromt the Alps, but that didn't stop everyone to be blown away! THAT is a musical glory!

I'll Be There is a safe bet for Guy. It's something he can do well half-asleep. It's also a feel-good crowd pleaser. The only thing is this song works best as a sincere pledge. Guy will have to restrain himself on the vocal tricks. I notice that Guy's confidence has absolutely multipled recently. This can be seen in his risk-taking when it comes to song choice and song arrangement. The confidence flows through to his unwavering execution. You almost feel that he can now take on anything and make a go at it. Crazy In Love? A jerky ditty drenched in teenage sex hormones? Why not? Guy's voice can handle the playful rhythms and word play. All he needs now is to believe in the material and sing with the excitement of young infatuation. He can nail it. After all, it'll a damn sight easier for him than being a singing nun.

What a self-possessed performer Guy has become. Despite having the flu, he soldiered on on Sunday and treated his illness as nothing but a minor irritation. The few low notes that he missed on I'll Be There did nothing to take away the polish of his performance. Without the benefit of eye contact with the audience as he unfortunately chose to wear very dark shades, Guy still managed to turn the studio into a discotheque with his cheeky Crazy For Love. Angels Brought Me Here was a solid soulful preformance of a middling cliched composition.

To be honest, I did not see anything wrong with this performance, I was in the crowd at the time, and everyone was basically out of their seats - it's honestly the loudest "roar" I've ever heard from the crowd on Australian Idol, and I've been in the crowd three times before. Guy really showed us he is extremely versatile, even when this song did not allow him to use his voice in "full power." But yet again, in the word's of ****o and Mark, this show is not all about "voice." Guy is simply one of the best performers I've seen on Australian Idol - he knows how to get the crowd going. Well done.

I have been watching this show right from the beginning as most of you have. I was initially not too interested in the show and stopped watching until I heard Guy sing 'What a Wonderful World'. This was a beautiful rendition of the song and got me back into watching the show.

Guy has had a consistency like no other throughout the entire series, he has great song choice, great arrangement and makes each song his own.

I am obviously a Guy fan but last night the Beyonce song wasn't quite right, there was something missing from it. The Uh-oh bit seemed a tad out of tune. His cover of the Jacksons was really nice.

Guy seems to take it that extra step further and takes a chance and changes the song to occasionaly (or mostly) exceed the original artist's interpretation.

People seem to have an issue with Guy going to the US and making it. So? This has been the absolute mission of any artist to come out of Australia. Little River Band tried - couldn't do it. John Farnham tried as a solo act - couldn't do it. Cold Chisel tried - couldn't do it. Barnes tried as a solo act - couldn't do it. Midnight Oil tried - could only do it by playing at illegal protests in the street. Kylie Minogue, who has just had her 15th anniversary of her first number one in the UK has tried - couldn't do it. Delta can't do it. OK - so Guy may look and sound like he is from the R&B genre in the US at the moment - I think this gives him the best shot out of anyone! Would it be so bad to just slot right in there? If you sell 1 million albums in Australia they make you Australian Of The Year ( Whispering Jack - JF ) - if you 'only' sell 3 million in the US you have failed.

Guy was in fact noticed from the very beginning, I'm not a guy fan (nor a Shannon fan), but I remember the first time I saw Guys audition, his voice just blew me away and I was looking forward to hearing more. The Afro hair also made him rememberable. The show didn't pay much emphasis on him but then again they had been paying emphasis on the wrong people throughout eg) Anthony Zampatti etc.
