A recent query regarding who did the choreography for Guy's huge 2004 Aria performance (in front that THAT light wall) and his Beautiful Life tour.
ahhhhhhhhhh "ridiculously talented"
YUP!

This is really only for those interested in the competition - it isn't ALL by any means (I know, because I'm missing some of my favourite comments I've come across before)
But here are the comments almost from day 1
and I ran out of steam - so will try and add to them later.
--------------------
Bits dredged from the past Positive stuff - any ....... will be in order to keep the niceties...
Wow - back right near the beginning...
Hmm. I thought that the round 3 verdict was the best out of all of them. The ppl with talent actually got in!! Shannon has the best voice, and Guy's voice, personality, and the way he can change songs to make it his own is great! Rebekah was also really really good, and i hope she is the wildcard entry. In all the other rounds, ONLY Peter (pig farmer) has talent.
Apart from Guy, I'm right behind this girl. (Paulini) Talk about VOICE. It all comes down to the vocals right. Guy and Paulini have got their stuff packed down!! These two better get somewhere.... FAR
. Post the 70s show. (Holden loves him and wants him voted thru, even tho he didn't think he did his best performance)
Guy: I love Guy! He's awesome. The judges didn't like his performance tonight, but personally, I really enjoyed it. He's got an awesome voice and he's a good performer - he looks like he really enjoys himself on-stage. I'm definitely going to be rooting for this guy all the way through the competition; he kicks ass.
Post You're the Voice. (In a way a dangerous choice, because it is one of THE Australian anthems and John Farnham is THE VOICE. However, its one of the US fans faves).
GUY: Surprising Farnham choice, but nothing really wrong with the performance except for the fact that it was a little too Hillsong. Beaming from ear to ear throughout, he really seemed to enjoy himself and had terrific rapport with the audience. No worries here, two good weeks in a row for Guy. 8/10
When doves Cry - when Guy started to pull in huge fans... Guy - words can not describe how good he was..... he has such a beautiful voice that it literally gives me goose pimple (i love the vocal acrobatics)... he is just as good as Paulini and has a great chance of winning it
Oct 12 2003 GUY: Would love to see him win this competition. Talented, original, funky, genuine, and in Marcia's voice, heaven-sent voice. Really enjoyed his performance tonight. He funked it up to the max - almost had a bit of an accident with the mike at the end there, but besides that, practically faultless. (LOL - obviously post When Doves Cry)
From a non committal 'critic' Guy improved tonight, a bit awkward, but starting to show some attitude (if a bit deliberately). But he needs more of that killer instinct to win. Has potential to grow though, like Paulini.
Discussion was getting a little 'taut' at this point about others still in the comp. (Def. not one of Pinkline's favourites) I think I need gods help sometimes! Danzig, couldn't agree more.. It is just a hard thing to find! I just like to see what the real people, who care enough about these Idols, to post comments about them in places like this really think.. It is not an idustry about talent as much as it should be.. This is why we are subjected to very little new "real" talent any more. Guy is truly a shining light in terms of vocal skills in a very large niche that people love or hate.. His voice and image will by no means apeal to all.. The shame is that his clear cut stand alone talent will not get him through.. ........
post immediately following the above: Totally agree with everything you say about Guy "In the biz", I really do hope Australia won't let this very rare talent pass by.
Concerned poster - VOTE FOR THE VOICE As I've stated before Guy seems to be the only one who has the whole package as he definitely has the voice.
Following the Unplugged show (When I Get You Alone) Guy - Absolutley awesome performance, as always. He worked the crowd, got into it. Made the song sound real good. He also looks killa in a pair of jeans. He should win Australian Idol by far!
also from WIGYA Guy – By far this is his best performance, unbelievably awesome. He is the complete package. He not only has the look, image (Go Tha Fro) and the attitude but he can really work the crowd fantastically. As I’ve said b4, and will continue to say, Guy should definitely win Australian Idol.
Post Wigya (poster sez its a Beck song - but its actually from Robin Thicke) Guy- A Beck song. Superb performance. He's the only one who looked like he was really enjoying himself onstage tonight. Questions- a little awestruck by the audience... and easily distracted
Post Wigya Guy - thats tops mate! no other idol could've sung that song. --------------
------ guy - the best performance of the night - vocally was fantastic, moved around the stage - and you could tell he was thoroughly enjoying himself ! -----------
---------- This poster a bit of a 'thinker'
Guy's song choice really made use of the string section. And it was an interesting song, not an obvious, boring, pop standard. He is interesting, but he needs to come out of his shell more.
Ganesha - who loves music fanatically
Nicely put, I hope there are enough like you out there, and i dont just mean for this shows validity! I personally want Guy to win because of those reasons you mentioned however sometimes i think the real talents are better off not winning if you know what i mean.
SERIOUSLY WHO THINKS GUY IS TOPS! HE IS IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN. AFTER WATCHING HIM OVER THE PAST WEEK INCLUDING WHEN DOVES CRY --------------
------ )From Ganesha again) He is the best no doubt, world class is just the start. --------------
-------- I have to agree with you guys. Guy does an amazing job every week. He picks good songs, makes them his own. Looks funky. Dances well. He's the complete package. He should definately win Australian Idol by far. --------------
-----------
---------- guy will nail this sundays rnb soul! there's no way he'll be voted out!!!! i really like to see him do a moonwalk...that will put the nail in the coffin. I wish i had heaps of cash....i'll sign him up right away...or i can get my friend who works @ virgin mobile to get Richard Branson to sign him up.
(and for fun, Ganesha's reply to Pinkline)
Pinkline i think you should calm that ego down a tad, insulting the one person who clearly stands out above the rest kind of makes you look like a ****. I am a musician myself, my parents were musicians, my mother had an extrodinary voice and i know what is special, and Guy has blown my mind with his incredible subtelty and impressive interpretations. Theres a post talking about you being credible....how old are you? What exactly gives you credibility? --------------
Guy does rock and i really do hope he does win! --------------
---- I Totally agree! Guy is so the best! If he wins I will buy every one of his CD's from beginning to end! His voice is unique but soooo nice and hes got the look and all! I've never seen him do bad at a concert so far... and I dont think he ever will! ;D We Love you Guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --------------
--------------
-
I love reading these comments Lyn. I was hooked on Guy but hadn't discovered the internet and forums at this stage so it's good to read what people were saying back then.sweetpea2well, one day the proboards will disappear and its nice to have these somewhere else too. I'll go back 'em up sometime and paste them here, at home. Wow - Ganesha called him a top one in the world, or similar... and that was then. HUGE praise indeed I hope he's gone to see him at Parramatta or whatever - every time we see Guy he's advanced another 2 or 3 steps higher than he was before
Bits Dredged - part 2
Post RnB (Hidden Agenda and Hello - both Guy arrangements, particularly the last)
GUY: 'Hidden Agenda' was flawless - sounded an awful lot like Craig David though so didn't completely make it his own, but either way, enjoyable. 'Hello' was good - his voice was awesome as per usual, but undecided about the arrangement. Hmmm. ----------------
GUY: Very professional and musical. The most grounded performer. Solid, but not as dazzling as other times. Can imagine him in the Final 2- maybe against Millsy! (*coff*) -----------------
GUY - His first song 'Hidden Agenda' was awesome, but his real accomplishment I think was 'Hello'. I love the original and I feel his version was excellent. It really shows how into his music he is. His voice (as always) was absolutely brilliant. -----------------
Guy - LOVED his two performances. His voice was fantastic and he had such wonderful stage presence. This guy is a STAR. Levi was my favorite idol contestant but now Guy is up there as well as one of my favorites. GO GUY! (I'm going to go buy the Craig David cd now after hearing Guy's wonderful rendition of 'Hidden Agenda' ) -----------------
speaking of top 2, Guy is definitely there. i believe he was the best performer of the night. he has an amazing voice and he performed both of his songs fantastically. -----------------
Guy....again, he is a champion! Was a bit worried about Hidden Agenda, but as the judges say "he pulled it off"...and Hello! What a brilliant performance. -----------------
Guy is the only real talent and real artist in this competition. He looks funky and has no attitude (like the rest). He should win! Go Guy!!!! -----------------
Guy was fab fab fab i loved the songs he did even tho it is not my type of music, i tink he deserves to win. -----------------

Best in show last night was Guy! Guy has grown on me big time. His ability to mould a song and make it his own is great and he makes me like songs which I normally would walk out of a shop if they was playing! -----------------
GUY: 'Hidden Agenda' was flawless - he sounded better than Craig David. However, it was a rather lazy song choice. 'Hello' was great, he sounded very comfortable with the song and it wasn't necessary to fully control his vocal acrobatics because it suited the song. Furthermore, the arrangements added a little spice to the song. -----------------
BMGer Hoping here that Guy wins, not because the others aren't good enough, they are all trying hard - so respect for that, but unlike him they cannot sustain an entire album as respectful musicans and it'd be good to have a real muso like Guy (who arranges, records, plays instruments, reads music) in there instead of someone with just a great BIG voice. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Whereas Guy writes his own songs, he can sing them from the heart and it's all pure talent. He can sing, he can write, he can move on stage, he's a nice person, he's talented, he produces music, he arranges it! ................ Hopefully Australia will vote for guy to win, even though BMG has already got the word out it needs writers for ...... album songs. With Guy BMG just needs to let him loose on the clothing shops - as he is a lover of fine threads! But they don't need to spend more money on getting him a huge crew of writers, stylists, publicists, trainers,.......... I'd buy an album by Guy because he is so versitile and youthful. Plus his morality is a good one for the youth of Australia to look up to - in terms of his religious beliefs and kindness. I think everyone is getting far too swept away in.......... who EXPECTS to win this! Did any of you hear ... say on TV a couple of weeks ago that ............ Guy has never shown that amount of arrogance. But BMG possibly told him to go for the sympathy thing ...... didn't they the other week? Go guy - we need REAL musos - the voice, the instrument players, the song writers, back on our charts!!!!! Pleaassseee voting public give us a musican not a pretty parrot.
Finally people i can agree with!!!... I Love Guy, his amazing.. his mature.. he has personality.. his got what it takes! ............ However, Guy always puts on that brave face and whatever happens makes him stronger...
He has a unique look that u don't find and he can definately make it international. It's that voice that makes him unique (and not to mention his gorgeous afro ) .. I voted for Guy heaps last night and I am really proud that he was safe this week! Whenever I listen to his voice it makes me think that he deserves all of this and he is a natural talent.. Good Luck Guy.. You have so many supporters no matter what! :-*
Did you hear last night Mills when he was leaving that his choice / or prediction for the AI winner was Guy?
-----------------
Guy is not only voice - he IS the whole package! At the begining of the comp. Marcia said that they are looking for the whole package. This is AI comp. where fresh and young looking - great voice should win. G U Y !!!!!!! -----------------
some1 who has definetly grown as a performer over the last few weeks is none other then GUY its not every day i get goosebumps and shivers from somones vocals and he has the ability to do it to me. I think he is brilliant and should win the comp ............as the divine miss m would say 'his vocals are literally heaven scent'. Either way wether he wins or not he has a supreme talent that will take him places and he will make it in the music industry! The vocal acrobatics rock----
> GUY U R A STAR -----------------
Im glad to see others starting to get this about him, the others a great but this man is in an entirely different league. -----------------
OoOoo Yeah Guys really good.. Good Luck Guy.. It's about time we needed true talent in Australia.. Guy has a really sexy voice -----------------
.... Guy on the other hand is very individual. I cannot think of anyone else comparable to him. He is talented and different from the rest. ----------------
Guy would be able to do this because he is unlike anyone else in the music industry today. -----------------
------------
Also I can't say a bad word about Guy, because he is truly hugely talented, and him and Cosima should battle it out for the winner of the comp. -----------------
---------
Guy seems to be the one as he has a creative streak and can sing as well as produce music. -----------------
--------
My top three: 1. Paulini 2. Guy 3. Shannon I dig Guy big time, but I reckon he could do just as good in second place (still lands a record label). That way he doesn't have to conform to the 'Idol-poppy' image - seeing as the 'little girls' don't appreciate his looks. > (really ? Heh heh - this was just pre Millsy's departure) -----------------

Damn... weren't the hosts right about Guy having an affect on girls all over the country?! There's something about him... the way he looks, his voice, his style - he's like close on perfect! I was very dissapointed to find out how much competition I'm up against though... Rock on Guy! You're on a level of your own... there's no way anyone can match up to your talent! (I remember Shan saying this too, on the tour - the thing is - he's cute in pics and on TV - but in the flesh he's WHOA!!) -----------------
---
I will be extremely disappointed if Guy goes tomorrow. Every week I look forward to hearing him sing. In fact I told my husband tonight they should have the Guy hour and he could just sing everyone elses songs for them! His voice is incredible! In my opinion Guys talent completely transcends all the other performers.......he is a true star. -----------------
----------
Oh my gosh Dont say that!!! Theres no way Guy can get voted out! He's the best -----------------
---------
The public have obviously been voting with their gonads. Cause their ears can't tell quality. I looked forward each week to hear both Paulini and Guy. They were truly entertaining. I f Guy goes next week. I won't bother watching anymore because it will be such a farce Keep voting for Guy. Talent like this cannot be forfeited. Paulini deserved to be in the final 2. So sad. -----------------
GUY is the best. He'll be so even if he loses this comp because of people like Ash. He'll get a deal, he will sell big records. -----------------
Wow!! Wasn't that a shock? The odds on favourite to win had the second lowest votes?? I'm sorry but I find that VERY hard to believe. Guy would have to be the most talented and original singer in this competition. Every time I hear him sing he gives me goose-bumps! Good luck, Guy. You deserve to win purely on your talent alone - -----------------
- I am of Italian decent just like Cosima, and in my opinion Guy wins in both the singing & good looks departments! -----------------
Since Bek was voted out, I didnt think I was capable of being shocked by the voting on AI. But last night with Guy as the second lowest, I have finally decided that AI is staged simply as a reality show, a ratings grabbing device for Ch 10 and a promotion campaign for BMG. They are not looking for a talent, not even an idol. Guy hopefully will get talent scouted and win in bigger ways than the title of this ridiculous self promoting show. {Glen Wheatley said he would sign Guy up if he was voted off the show) -----------------
if ur his lil bro that was in the audience.. ur hella cute lols.. i will definately vote for guy, he deserves to win.. althought everyone seems to think.. winning isnt always the best senario.. the winner is the one who gets all the publicity, record deals, tours, yada yada.. so Guys the man! -----------------
Hay man I'm glad you said that because I was beginning to wonder... but you're right - if Guy didnt want this, he wouldnt have entered. Obviously he wont let this get to his own morals and I really respect that in him. Australia needs a good music role model (I dont want to call him an idol...) and he would be so good for it! While I have the chance - I just thought I'd say that your song "my passion" is aws! I was reading through the words the other day and it totally expresses what I feel, without knowing how to put it in words. Good job - Keep it up -----------------

add here - some dotted lines are where I took out unnecessary stuff re other artists - this is not about making comment on others, but just positive Guy stuff

This from proboards = around page 239
(Chamberlain)
Guys, I'm an American from Los Angeles living in Perth.
I must say, I've followed AI from the get-go and I felt that among all the finalists, Guy had the goods from the start.
Get this: I HATE the R&B style of music. I actually prefer music that fits more with Shannon's genre. However, as good as some of you have said Shannon is, he is nowhere near the caliber of a professional. I must admit, he sometimes gets a good song out, but he cannot and would never hold a candle next to Guy.
Guy Sebastian has the entire package...the moves, the looks, the individualistic style, the confidence, the ease, but MOST importantly, the voice. As someone who's been in the music industry for some years now, I cannot agree more with ****o--Shannon's voice is not perfect and he does not move well.
However, that being said, I have seen Shannon go from strength to strength. No doubt because the judges and voice coaches have worked with him. But, Guy is already there. And that is the person you want to represent you in the International Idol competition.
Well done, Australia. As an American, you make me proud to be living in Oz, and come time for the international contest, I won't be cheering for the American Idol, but for the new "voice" of Australia...Mr Guy Sebastian.
page 271
from a supposed BMGer
I am directly inside the music industry as one of these wankers LOL, that you all hate - yeah -yeah I know...who promote and sell bands, I posted before (as business BMGer) about why from a business end point of view it would be good to have a musican in the charts, not just someone with a big voice or a nice face, even though I respect the effort Pauline has gone to vocally.
I am very glad some people out there are seeing into the musicial end of things and are answering me logically in my other post. Because I am making a pretty solid point there. Sorry for all my rambling though. I think some of us guys in the industry also need to get our views aired though.
I am just wondering where the info you have gotten is from about the contract? It's very interesting.
It it is correct, then it will still get Guy into the market faster than if he signed elsewhere - overseas etc (where he doesn't have the fan base).
Usually it is better from an Aussie act to release something here first, then attack the overseas audiences. America is a real hard nut to crack, Britain is okay - because of the neighbors thingy - they like Aussie music...but still very difficult with no big fan base.
Thing is mate, BMG is offering a million dollar deal that bands like Frenzel Rom ect... are struggling to get because it takes a huge mountain to move. Some bands playing Livid for instance have been on the road for yonks and struggling to get deals like this one which is very sad. So you gotta grab it when it's handed out.
You need effective management, agents, publicists and the whole shabang to get a deal like the one BMG is offering.
If Pauline wins I doubt they would ammend a contract like the one you are describing, because she does need all that extra marketing, musical input and image consultancy. The contract would suit Pauline very well, because it's all laid out on a plate for her. Perhaps BMG didn't expect someone with musical talent - like Guy to even win! Good that he's shown us, musos are out there producing their own stuff.
With guy because nothing has been signed yet, lawyers could ammend parts of the BMG contract to allow him to introduce some of his own work onto the album. It'd be an extreme waste if they didn't but I know it is more impressive to let someone like Guy make BMG look good in terms of producing REAL musos, not just singers. I think Guy does have the entire package and BMG would be stupid to ignore it.
I don't think he's going to be wasted by signing with BMG, but his first year with them might be extremely frustrating. It is up to Guy if he wins, and hoping he does, to pull finger out and press the company to allow him to be a musical person, and show off his broad range of talents. Bardot, Scott Caine (god help us!) and all that crap, well they are not in the same league as Guy is musically. BMG would be lucky to get him. Good luck to everyone. I did enjoy seeing Millsey there - from an image POV, not voice wise...Cosmia is trying alittle too hard with all the image swapping for me, and her voice was not up to par recently, ....shannon is a lovely boy, not a great vocal ability, and then there's Guy - well lets hope Australia makes informed decisions to get us muso's back in the charts. I miss bands like chisel, inxs, the angels and all those lot who are real artists that sing, play instruments and write their own songs. We need that! It'd kill the overseas Idol artists in that competition when they all compete for the world Idol thing to have someone who is the real deal.

Here's the Sydney Confidential Article today......
Upstaged Idol star not sulking or idle
So Shannon Noll wins best male artist at last weeks
music video awards...yada yada.
That's all very good for an Idol bridesmaid but
where was the original Idol, everyone's favourite guy
Guy Sebastian?
Fro fanatics have been typically active on the subject
impatiently awaiting news on Sebastian, so today we oblige.
While Sebastian was in Sydney last week, Confidential was
yesterday told he was in a "creative zone" working around
the clock on his third album and didn't want the added
distraction of the awards.
He said he was "thrilled" for Noll's win and phoned him
"at a civilised hour" the next day to congratulate him.
Shannons okay
but a Guy gig is something else entirely
