To keep yourself out of harms way, here is a guide you should use.

1. Keep your identity private! This is a public forum, that means anyone on the internet can access it. Avoid giving out your full name, your mailing address, your telephone number, the name of your school or anything that could personally identify you.

2. Don't meet anyone from online! The worst thing you could do is meet someone from online. People aren't always who they say they are. If you do feel the need to meet someone, bring three or more friends/family with you. Never meet or go alone with the person! It's best to meet in a public place such as a coffee shop or mall where there are alot of people around you.

3. Don't reply to PM's (Private Messages), Instant Messages, Emails, chat or any other message system that makes you feel uncomfortable.

I totally agree. Do not give out any personal information. You don't know who your talking to. Everyone seems great on the computer. It could be a real weirdo on the other end. You never know.

I had a pm once with someone offering to send me something. I kindly declined. They were kind of rude right after so it made me very suspicious.

There was a guy from Virginia, who got so upset with another dude, because of an internet argument in a chat room. He was so upset that he drove 1300 miles to Texas, to go burn down the dude's house.

Without looking back, didn't the article read that he ran an amusement haunted house and that had the address and location??? He said that it was well known that since his address was on display it was "hands off on the haunted house guy" or something like that?
