Did I Hear - No more Canadian Idol?
that would be so sad.
But the country/ies have to get behind the winners.
Having said that, I know its hard. Out of our 6 seasons, only 3 really look as if they are going very strong. (Guy, Shannon and Anthony) HOWEVER - there are many others who have gotten careers going because of the show including Ricki Lee who looks like she will continue to shine (she was the unexpected leaver - caught everyone by surprise, and lots of queries regarding difficulty voting from her State).
Anyone?
btw
Happy Holidays (or Merry Christmas, as we say here)

Hi,
Yes I heard a blip on the radio saying because they couldn't get enough money from advertizers this year that they are pulling the plug on CDN Idol. They said it might come back but I won't hold my breath. They said there weren't as many viewers last year compared to previous years, so I guess that's why advertizers don't want to waste their money on that show?

oh, for real? I must admit, they were doing a try-hard this year in Australia, which made it more interesting but I'm picking up that there is a definite dropping off. I'm hoping that with picking another professional (Guy was all but, Casey wasn't although the '2nd place getter' Anthony who was really the winner, was, the next one - forgotten her name, was also a professional, and so was Damien Leith, and Wes Carr this year too. Just people without contracts.
Trouble is, here in Australia, the so-called musos can't forgive them for going through a reality show. Its apparently okay to do the Big Bands competitions or radio competitions - anything at all - but not TV competitions?? Hypocrites!

Hypocrites indeed...Nothing wrong with doing what it takes to get a recording contract...

so agree, doing what it takes. If you get a chance to grab an audience for you, go for it, and TV is the media these days. Its really sucky, here. So its amazing that Guy has done so well.
Perhaps Canada has some of the same problems, some of the media can be pretty unforgiving. Once our lot saw Guy with Steve Cropper and the band they changed their tune, but I still find the odd person making comments, and they've never even seen him, or bothered to listen.
Here's hoping Canada gets another chance, perhaps in a year.

I hope they bring Canadian Idol back (although I hate Ben Mulroney), they expected it to return in 2010, but they have yet to hold any auditions. It's usually broad casted in the summer....
