Guy Sebastian's Armageddon Tour 2012 - Gold!
Starts tonight.
someone mentioned they thought the song sounded sort of familiar, but not entirely.

It might be the brass line in the song that's familiar. He's sampled Otis Redding's 'Shake' and that riff runs in the back of the song all the way through. It really gives it a 60s soul sound, but manages to sound modern at the same time. I'm loving the track.

Nice find - Guy and Carmen and the band rehearsing - concerts start tonight. SO wish I was there and doing more than just two, which will never be enough.

I can't believe Guy's schedule - as usual. He's been doing rehearsals and XFactor stuff, including boot camp etc. Its just so full on and we get to know all this by the tweets of those attending, and photos and Guy's tweets and MelB's and Ronan's. Guy's got a huge tour this year, but somehow I think it might be less stressful than his schedule in the last 6-8 weeks. AND he's still working on the album!
sold out shows everywhere, or sprinkles of seats left.

hectic schedule, even tonight, when I thought Guy and the band would have a day off, it turns out they have a major gig instead.
You'd have a pretty big collection too, Merrill. If you send me your latest postal address I can send you the latest EP. I'm thinking your old one would no longer be right?
Guy's been so busy with the tour, most of the venues are sold out, but I notice that some radio stations have a few giveways - and SOME come with meet and greets, lucky things.
I don't know that anyone can see these photos but here's some links to Guy's latest posts of baby Hudson

Ben Burgess is killing it as a support act! The show is just WOW from start to finish
Some of the venues are HUGE! So glad they're full

Most venues are sold out, have been for ages
Meanwhile, Guy's gig at Melbourne just went right off! :P - it was sold out, and was a great success, so they've videoed it for DVD and there's to be a 2nd concert June 25th. Tickets should be available as from this next Wednesday - not much time, but I think that with two shows taped, they'll be able to get some great footage. Lucky Melbourne .

This article is in the Sunday Mail, but I can't find it online, so have typed it out.
He's Such A Family Guy
Guy Sebastian is on tour with his wife and baby son in tow, says Ross Purdie.
Guy Sebastian was always going to struggle leaving baby son Hudson home while he took off
on tour. So the Aussie singer has done what any doting first-time dad would do and invited the
family along for the ride. Wife Jules and young Hundson has so far travelled to Cessnock, Sydney,
Canberra and Wollongong to support Sebastian on his Armageddon tour.
But their company hasn't stopped the former Australian Idol winner and Adelaide from welling up
every time he sings Big Bad World, a song inspired by the experience of becoming a father.
"The first show (in Cessnock) was just so ridiculous because I cried like an absolute idiot,"
Sebastian says. "And it was ugly crying where I couldn't even sing the song."
The gift of first-time parenthood has proved tricky business for Sebastian and Jules as they
look to balance their careers with family life. Jules, a professional stylist, was recently
recruited by MTV to be a host of a new fashion show, Style Me. Fortunately, three of her cast
colleagues have newborns too so they can swap notes. "But we are lucky to have a family friend
working for us who looks after Hudson and she's great," Sebastian says.
The pressures of fatherhood have delayed the release of Sebastian's seventh album
Armageddon, which deals with more weighty issues. The song Get Along touches on religion
and war, while Battle Scars addresses the effects of a damaging relationship - a far departure
from previous single Don't Worry Be Happy.
"I've always kept an eye on what's going on in the world but have never really put pen to
paper on the big issues," says Sebastian. I Generally prefer to write music that makes people
feel good but I guess this album will go a bit deeper."
Guy Sebastian plays Thebarton Theatre on Friday night.

So Jules Sebastian is getting a gig, in fashion, too. Should be totally fascinating. Thats lovely that they have a family friend who's doing the Hudson minding, too. I know they've been carting him everywhere, but as Guy has said, he can't afford to lose his voice in the middle of such a heavy tour.

Really liking this article
Quote:
NEARLY a decade after he won the first Australian Idol, Guy Sebastian keeps winning, writes Sally Browne
THERE'S been a new addition to the Guy Sebastian road crew. His name is Hudson James and he's 3 1/2 months old. In the back seat of the car, on the road somewhere in rural Victoria, Sebastian is sitting beside his young son.
He might be a little fella, but Hudson can already make a lot of noise, and happy baby gurgles can be heard down the phone line. "He's the coolest little dude," says his dad. "He's just cool to hang out with. He's so reactive and so smiley and really perceptive. I enjoy hanging out with him, he's already a good bloke."
Hudson is proving to be a star performer on his first tour. Sebastian admits he has a dream kid, and the night owl, who's often up late after a gig, is happy to take the 4am feeding shift while his wife Jules sleeps. It's a great set-up. "He's been a dream, to be honest. He's such a good little traveller. It's good fun to have him on the road."
Sebastian is travelling the country on his Armageddon tour, named after his sixth album, released this year. A series of one-night-only concerts will take him to Brisbane's QPAC on Friday, Jupiters Theatre on the Gold Coast next Saturday and the Nambour Civic Theatre on Sunday, July 1.
Sebastian and his crew have made a special effort to make the shows audio-visual feasts."It's really cool. It's essentially the biggest production I've ever done on stage," he says. "We've all poured a lot of time and energy into making it a really cool visual show, and sonically I've got such a killer band."
There are about six or seven on stage with Sebastian, including The Voice contestant Carmen Smith, who's enjoying being on the road again. "She was born to do this and I think she really missed just working and being on the road," Sebastian says.
"It can be pretty tough for some of these working musicians that get into The X Factor or The Voice or whatever because life stops you've got to make yourself available but you've still got work to do, you've still got bills to pay."
Sebastian, who won the first Australian Idol in 2003, has been on our stages, on our screens and in our headphones for almost 10 years. He has managed to do what all talent show contestants dream of to have a lasting career and he seems surprised that next year will mark the 10th anniversary of him winning Idol.
"It's 10 years! I haven't thought about that," he exclaims.
"But I should do something special. You know what I should do is an Idol reunion and do a little tour with all the other idols. "That would be very funny." He would be keen to find out what the other contestants are doing now.
He recently ran in to one of the Top 12 from his year, Lauren Buckley, when she auditioned for The X Factor, the show for which he's a judge.
"It was just really cool I guess to see her, because we all shared a unique experience together and to watch her go from that to still be doing what she loves and still singing. "She was like, 'I'm working in a bank and it's weird, we all went through that experience and then I had to work in a bank, and I'm just desperate to sing again'."
The key to longevity, Sebastian says, is songwriting. Unlike the US, which has a huge industry dedicated to composing songs for big commercial stars, in Australia performers must draw on their own talents to survive.
"Songwriting is absolutely everything," Sebastian says. "We're not in a position in this country where we've got record companies buying us songs. "It's not like America. I've been in these sessions, I've written for these people. "You've got every songwriter, everyone that's been published, and on their chalkboard is all the latest releases that are coming out 'Rihanna's looking for songs, Chris Brown's looking for songs, Katy Perry's looking for songs, Britney . . '
"In Australia, we don't care that they don't care. They go, 'It's a small country, we're not selling millions of records in Australia'. "Over here, if you don't write the songs yourself you're screwed.
"We don't have $1-2 million budgets for our videos. "It really is about steering the ship yourself and not letting someone else steer that ship for you."
Sebastian has written for other acts and has had success in Japan and Germany. He also wrote a song for American R&B artist Usher, called Dot Com. The sexy song was a bit risque for Sebastian to sing himself, so, in effect, he outsourced it to an alter ego. "It's a bit of a sexy song but Usher pulls it off really well," he laughs.
Sebastian hopes to one day write and produce for other artists, but right now his focus is on his own thriving career. And, of course, there are other priorities to attend to. Someone with a good voice is demanding his attention. It's newest band member Hudson. "He's going to start going off in a minute. I might have to go, actually. He's going to get loud."

Today’s Mantra: Life is Short, Live it Up
I went to an amazing concert last night. I have to confess I wanted to go purely because of the venue, I thought Guy Sebastian’s music was alright, but it was at His Majesty’s Theatre that made me hand over the money.
It was everything I expected and more.
He put on a real show. He spoke, he entertained and his voice was even better than the sound from his CD’s (which I actually don’t have but want now). He also did some new stuff that is off a forthcoming album that we all liked straight away. Very rare that an artist plays songs you haven’t heard before and you love them.
There wasn’t a boring minute. As I was enjoying the concert I kept thinking how disappointing most big artists are to see live. I am a huge Usher fan but I found his concert self-focused and I drifted off quite a bit, organising shopping lists, thinking what I had to do tomorrow etc. He also seemed to pick songs that a lot of the audience didn’t know and didn’t want to hear.
You also can tell that most artist’s version of a show means being someone they’re not, or thinking that we want to see a certain persona. Guy Sebastian seemed very himself last night and very comfortable speaking to the audience on stage. He also spoke about becoming a new Dad which was just gorgeous and played a song that he wrote for his little boy.
Look out for his new album, it’s going to be awesome.

Thats it, really. Guy is ALWAYS himself. Thats what you get.
Poor thing, I think he'll be running tonight. His plane was turned back, so there's only the slightest chance of a soundcheck. I think he'll still want to do one however. It's going to be touch and go in Tasmania
