The vocal is beautiful, the lyrics uplifting, and the music itself is such that it will stand the test of time, which is a sign of a great pop song/ballad. I've liked lots of past idol contest songs, but this one has that something special that just moves you......when i hear the lyrics i can totally relate, and in many different ways. And most importantly, the lyrics totally fit & work perfectly with the show finale theme.

Perhaps even surpassing Season 5 which has been my favorite not only because of Taylor, but also because of all the rest of the top 10 all of them are so talented well most of em' anyway....
Hehehehe
I wasn't too crazy about Katharine but the rest of them were just amazing! I have heard that Fantasia's brother tried out and Simon is very disappointed in him but maybe Paula and Randy sent him through only time will tell!!

More of the people I have talked to are hoping for an awesome year due to the fact that there will not be much on TV with the writer's strike.

Lets get ready to RUMBLE!!! We are so ready in my family!!!!!!:boldblue::boldblue::boldblue:

PETA= People for the Evil Treatment of Anything.

When I was in college studying Biology, I remember the announcement that all Biology lab studies were cancelled for one week. It was awesome! No class for a week!

It was later revealed that animal rights extremists had broken into the bio-labs in a nearly sucessful attempt to free the innocent rats, rabbits, and mice that the Biology department kept in the lab. At first glance it might feel like that might be a worthy cause- save animals that are being tormented and experimented on against their will.

But from a Biologist’s point of view- you’d just be killing more animals and harming more people. See- many of the rodents that my university kept in its Bio labs were being evaluated for resistance measures to things like plague and malaria, as well as parasites like tapeworms and a whole host of bloodborne illnesses.

It’s actually quite fortunate that none of the animals made it out of the lab, for their abilities to breed quickly and inter-mingle with indigenous species could have wiped out a threatened species like the Stephenson’s Kangaroo Rat, or spread parasites and diseases to animals and people alike.

Think of the beginning of 28 Days Later. A demonstration of poor choices by humans derived from emotional response. For the truth of the matter is- PETA, the ALF, and other extremist members of the Animal Rights agenda are dangerous organizations that prey on human emotion to perpetuate crimes against people and the very animals they swear to protect. That’s right- PETA kills animals!

Ask around these days and you’d be hard pressed to find a person say “I don’t like animals of any sort”. Sure- people love animals, and I sure as hell do too- it’s one of the main reasons why I studied Biology in college and supported the protection of our wildlife and environment. And who doesn’t love a cat, or a dog, or a horse, or whatever pets they may keep?

It would be just as difficult to find a person who has no sympathy for animals whatsoever, as it would be to find a REAL naturalist or conservationist who supports PETA and its agenda. This is most likely because the only platform PETA uses for its psychotic arguments are emotional- there is very little logic or reason, let alone scientific data to support PETA’s horribly misguided crusade to save animals.

Now- don’t get me wrong- there are plenty of worthwhile endeavors carried out by animal rights activists. No one is here to argue that clubbing harp seal pups or testing cosmetics on rabbits is cruel- it’s definitely cruel and those were worthwhile achievements of the animal rights movement.

Notice I said animal rights movement, and not PETA. This is because PETA makes no distinction between testing razorblades on the backs of rabbits than a man enjoying a steak for dinner. Nor do they make the distinction between wastefully slaughtering elephants just to retain the ivory versus the medical animal research that cured polio or developed the medications for diabetes, or the anti-venom we use for snake and spider bites.

PETA is interested in only one thing- the total liberation of animals. And by total I mean total.

This would mean no animals to eat, or use for testing, even if it saves millions of human lives. No animal products like leather, or wool, or fur, or musical instruments, or most of the technology we use because most of it contains animal by-products. No hunting, fishing, zoos, or wildlife preserves.

Oh yeah, and for you “animal lovers” out there- no pets, not even service animals like seeing-eye dogs or police dogs trained to sniff out narcotics.

All (vertebrates at least…) animals would be elevated to the status of the Hindu cow.

Even if that happened, how exactly would that benefit anyone, animals included?

It would mean animals that have been domesticated since pre-history like dogs, cats, horses, sheep, pigs, cattle, and well…anything that lives on a farm would have to revert to its feral state, and compete for food and mates after tens of thousands of years of never having to.

Tell your cat that it’s finally free now. Go ahead, let it go outside. Now- tell it that in order for it to survive it has to “become” a bobcat. Of- if you’re a farmer, give up your entire source of livelihood. Watch all the cattle get picked off by wolves, and disease, and…freeways.

Tell your diabetic friends that they can no longer have insulin as it contains animal products and was developed through animal research. Let more people die from the flu and bring back the plagues, and anyone requiring heart surgery is just going to have to die too- because all of this was achieved by animal testing or animal-containing products.

Okay- so PETA let that particular animal go, and that one, and that one…and ended up killing way more animals and people in the process of saving one already doomed generation of animals. This is by far one of the most ill-conceived ideas ever spawned.

I love animals. Seriously. And not just the cute and fuzzy animals- I appreciate liver flukes, and leeches, and even coral, not the stuff most people associate when they hear the word “animal”. I support the efforts to save the Golden Toad, or the Stephenson’s K Rat, and the European Honeybee. I have a degree and formal education in Biological Science. And yes- it breaks my heart to see some of the cruelty we perpetuate against animals every day.

But no real animal lover, scientist, or hell...rational human being that has really thought it through would ever support PETA.

My friend the illegal immigrant.

Hi.

Hi.

I'm SoS and I was born an American.

In fact I was the first person in my family to become an American citizen. See my parents and siblings immigrated here legally more than 30 years ago, and went through the process of naturalization. The process took about 7 years for the rest of my family to become American citizens, and they were "model" immigrants. My father is a medical doctor, which helped qualify the family for citizenship, and they dilligently followed the process and pay their taxes and vote just like everyone else.

I'll stop this boring story by telling you a more modern story, about my formerly illegal alien friend- KW. See- he was an illegal, until he married FK's colleague and became a citizen. We might have thought he was a burden to the local economy- because he took a job away from an American- literally.

When we think of illegals taking jobs away from Americans, the argument is generally that these jobs were low-paying, low-skilled jobs that most Americans simply refuse to do and are unwilling to accept such low pay for.

Not in the case of my friend KW. He stole a "white-collar" job! That's right! A reasonably well-paid job in the media and entertainment field- a job that MANY Americans would love to have! Criminal I know!

But you wanna know the funny thing? No one made a big deal out of it. No one accused him of being a criminal. No one patrolled the border he came in through, or suspected him of suspicious behavior, or accused him of ruining our economy, elevating our crime, and degrading our country.

Crossing the border for him was as safe as riding down a highway in a car. There were no armed guards, dogs, or minute men telling him to get out of our country. He didn't even need a "coyote" to sneak him in. No risking of life and limb, and yet he actually stole a good, American job.

Maybe if we looked at him today, we'd never even suspect he was a "criminal alien", as some here might say.

Because he's Canadian.

Or more to the point- white.

The fact of the matter is- up to a third of undocumented immigrants come into this country and live here illegally by out-staying a work visa, or by casually driving in from Canada.

Just ask the 9-11 terrorists. They didn't hop a fence.

Those that do risk life and limb, literally risk their very lives coming to this country. They may be raped or killed crossing the border. They have to work with underground networks of "coyotes" to sneak them in and forge documents for them.

They didn't come here to "vote", as some have suggested in true paranoid fashion. They wouldn't approach a voting booth any more than your average teenager who sports a fake ID for alcohol. The last thing someone wants to do when using an illegal identification is to find more ways to expose themselves. They want work, just like the teenager wants booze.

Nor did they come here to setup elaborate crime networks or spread diseases, though arguably, the first generation born here exhibit a large participation in drugs, gangs, and violence.

Which sounds an awful lot like the first generation of Italian and Irish born immigrants. They dealt booze during prohibition, drugs after prohibition, and worked the "muscle" when they knew their families and neighborhoods could find no protection from the police.

Or maybe we forgot all of this.

Those that enter the country illegally from our southern border are most likely to end up working in our fields, mowing our lawns, tiling floors, or helping us build that new extension we need for our house. You know-the stuff you can't get your spoiled kids to do, and the stuff you don't want to pay anything extra for.

They work, and you keep more money in your wallet. They want a better life for themselves and their kids, and you want to make sure your driveway looks perfect for when you present your kid a new Lexus for their "Super Sweet 16".

The fact that you hired them and not an overpriced legal outfit ensured you had enough to buy little Courtney her spoiled little car.

In the same sense, so has California's economy blossomed by this abundance of cheap, available labor. That's right- California is the 15th largest economy in the WORLD, and all within the last 20 years. Sure Hollywood has exploded during that time and does account for a significant portion of the growth, but another major constituent has been private business...wonder where they get their labor from? And who IS watching all those crappy movies anyway?

You know the last time America had gotten that rich? It was when we used slaves. At least this round we pay them money, we just still hunt them down like criminals when they aren't cleaning our toilets.

So now we proclaim that illegals are terrorists and spend a billion dollars on a 700 mile fence that's supposed to cover 3,000 miles of border.

We accuse them of bringing drugs and violent crime into this country like they were the ones who invented it (violent crime has declined in the past 15 years, if anyone bothers to check). Marijuana and other drugs are perfectly legal in Canada, and in fact a lot of us Americans come back from the North with our drugs, legal to illegal.

And disease. I will admit though, that there was a time in this country that a massive influx of immigrants did carry with them a massive amount of disease, like STD's and various bugs that nearly wiped out the home team!

Doesn't sound familiar does it? I guess they never published that version of "How the West Was Won." Their God, "Manifest Destiny", and a series of political backstabbings, and "diseases carried by foreign-born (Europe) immigrants" has been one of the greatest examples of genocide the world has ever seen.

So...if Hispanic illegal immigrants aren't stealing jobs we actually want, but instead help the California (and I suspect TX, AZ, and other state economies), if they are no more guilty of spreading drugs than legal citizen traffickers and haven't statistically increased violent crime or disease, why do we hate them so much? Why is the direction of our xenophobia facing South, when the threats we have falsely assigned to them were from the North?

Why shouldn't we despise my friend KW, who actually stole a good American job, crossed the border like he was crossing a street, and married himself into citizenship?

So what is this "illegal alien crisis" all about?

Until America can take an honest look at itself, it would never believe my answer.

What I do know is that currently, I am "Best Friendless".

In my life there have been five individuals that fall into the category of best friend status. For practical purposes I must say up front that all five individuals are of the male persuasion.

That's not to infer that there have not been women who have been my friends, but all the ladies that trode upon the ground of friendship with me were almost always in a physical and emotional relationship with me.

Which puts them into a whole other blog....I digress.
How someone can call themselves a Christian and post hate filled posts is beyond my imagination. The God that I have come to know and Love, Loves us all unconditionally and he would not approve of this behavior at all...I have tried to make my point but I have not been able to get through to them.......I don't know what else to do I don't like to see Christian's in such a bad light so all I can do is continue to remind everyone that God loves all he doesn't care about race, religion, or sin as long as we ask for forgiveness I don't see how God could turn his back on his people that being the Jewish population and they don't believe that Jesus is our Lord and Saviour so I don't see why it would make much of a difference if the Islamic people believed that Jesus was our Lord and Saviour also.....Well That's all I just wanyed to let every one know where I stood and know that I don't hate anyone because I like to Live my life as Jesus Would..

Bon Jovi who were Rock are now Country is this because of our age or is music changing so much that what once was is now something different? Elvis the King of Rock and Roll would hardly be considered Rock and Roll today with such artists as Avril Lavigne who is considered to be Rock-Punk-Pop...Who are we now that we are older do we still like Rock or do we listen to Country or perhaps even Punk (which by the way I never understood) I think this makes me an old lady I have left my happy go lucky school girl days behind me! I do like Nickelback and All American Rejects even Fall Out Boy but I am not kidding myself I probably would not even know who they were had it not been for my son who in just 3 more years will be entering High School one can only wonder if things will change even more....
