simon got that 1000 % right. on vocals and performance david A kicked some serious butt last night and made the other three look barely average.
he was professional and looked like the AI 7 american idol.

I think Simon was drinking out of Paula's cup.
Archy sang well, but he did little with the song other than sing it. At least Syesha showed some character (in her first song) and Cook showed some originality with his second.
I'm just not an Archy fan. The only thing I feel he managed to "crush" was about ten minutes out of my life I'd rather have back. I just don't get this guy. He's good, no doubt, but not as good as the judges gushing all over him make him out to be.

He totally made Stand by Me his own and he sang Love Me Tender very nicely. Crushed might be too strong of a word but IMO any objective person would say that Archy had the best performance last night. He needs to do this two more times to be the AI 7 winner.
To each their own. He simply bored me to death.

Same here. He has an excellent voice and all but it's not wowing me like it was at the beginning of the season. Both my girlfriend and I thought that he had it won, hands down, at the beginning of the season. When he sings he just doesn't have a whole lot of personality. He always has the same squinty look on his face like he's trying to make it look like he's really feeling the song and he always does the clinched fist knee bend thing. He uses the same old moves (almost like he learned them somewhere) and they are boring me.
He has a great voice, no doubt about it. But no stage presence. Cook, Carly, and Michael Johns (and to a lesser extent Amanda) wear the stage like a pair of their favorite shorts. Archy just kind of stand there and sings.
But, some folks like him. I'm one who doesn't find his performances appealing. Earlier in the contest they were, but not lately. He's just kind of...............there.

He was good but still this years Idol isn't exciting to me. It's not like last year where I was on the edge of my seat hoping that Melinda would win and out of my mind angry/sad when she didn't win. This year I'm hoping for Cook to win but I'm not biting my nails, so to speak, over it :)

Doesn't Simon and everyone keep saying this is a singing competition? I like David Cook, but if this is a 'singing competition' then David Archuleta is easily the best vocalist. That doesn't mean he will be the most successful, it just means he won a 'singing competition.' So everyone shouldn't be put off that the judges said he blew everyone away, because vocally he did.

I have to agree with you Eileen, last year, I was as well, hoping for Melinda to win, but it didn't happen... I also agree that DC deserves to win this competition, eventhough Archy might sing more in tune, DC has done by far the best performances!!!
