Larry Norman was the Father of Christian Rock music back in the day when many in the church said Rock N Roll music was of the devil . He wrote brilliant songs in his own style but was somewhat reminiscent of Bob Dylan who was a huge fan of Larry's. I was flooding the Hymns thread with Larry Norman songs but his songs are not exactly hymns. This is where I will be posting them from now on. Larry definitely sang the word of God but he also sang about life and relationships. These songs are about both. Why can't You be Good and Pardon Me.

One of Larry's all time classics "Outlaw" There is about a minute and a half of some guy preaching before Larry sings but the preaching isn't bad and the video to the song is awesome.

This is probably Larry's most controversial song. "Why don't you look into Jesus." The opening line is "sipping whiskey from a paper cup and it mentions "Gonnorhea on Valentines Day" take these words in context and they will all make sense.

OK I am going to limit posting new songs myself to one a day. If anybody else wants to post songs or comment you have my blessing.

Jonas Groth covers Larry's "I hope I see you in Heaven". This is a tribute version. He doesn't put his own spin on it but covers every nuance of the original by Larry. It is eerie as if Larry has already risen from the grave. Awesome and hard for me to say but as good as Larry's original maybe even better.

Long 9 minute version of I wish we'd all been ready and I am a Servant. Larry talks for about half of this so if you don't want to hear some preaching please don't listen.

Hey I just put this note on to bring this back to the front page for Aaron. This is a video my best friend made when he fell in love with his wife to a song about nuclear destruction. It might seem unlikely but it really fits.

Hope you find it Aaron.

I wonder why the Vids are not working for you. Thanks for checking Larry out. Sometimes his voice is really great other times it is only good. What song did you listen to on Youtube. With Larry it is all about the lyrics and presentation. If you had the opportunity to watch him in concert you would be more amazed by when he just talks. He is spellbinding. Sharing a message from God but never preachy or making it seem like you are in church.
