For anyone that hasn't yet heard, next weeks theme will be classic love songs, and the guest vocal coach will be Andrea Bocelli :)

This makes me anxious for Taylor, but if he can choose the right song and incorporate his own style and personality into it he can pull it off. It all comes down to picking the right song... I'm still shuddering over "Country Roads" (and I'm from WV).

I think they can all find a love song that will fit them in some way, shape, or form. I'm not too worried about song selection so much as I am about song delivery. A few contestants yet still aren't consistent enough for my comfort. They sing okay one week, then tank the next. We'll see. ;)

Over on the official boards they're already coming up with song choices for Tay, most popular seems to be Marvin Gaye's 'Lets get it on' or Percy Sledge 'When a Man loves a Woman'... I just can't understand why they chose the vocal coach they did for this week.....

"When a Man Loves a Woman" would be a great song for him, but Gedeon sang it already so I don't know if he will or not. His voice is awesome for that song, IMO. And, no, I don't understand an opera singer for this particular theme. But they keep us guessing, don't they? :talker:

I'm glad you confirmed my suspiscions about Gedeon already having sung that song nobody on the official boards mentioned it, but I thought he had. Lets get it on would be good too though, plent of soul in that one for Tay!
I've no idea how some of the others will be getting along next week though, particularly Chris.

I was thinking "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Elvis for Chris... It's got a nice rock vibe to it, yet it's a love song. We'll see, I guess... :boldred:

Didn't Taylor sing that last week? I think you'll find its a Queen song, not an Elvis one, it just sounds like an Elvis typre song.

I know Elvis sang it, at least at one point in time... My Pepa loves Elvis, and when I was a little girl, there was always an Elvis record or tape playing. Maybe "Can't Help Falling in Love" would be a good Chris song... Somebody needs to sing something Elvis.

Really???? I thought it was a Dwight Yoakam song.

Dwight did do a good version of that. No Elvis didn't sing it. Queen were the original artists to perform that song. Freddie did a video for that song, wearing a leather jacket and leg warmers. He looked like a gay Fonzie.

Actually, I thought Elvis did this one too... so I looked it up to see who all performed it...

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crazy_Little_Thing_Called_Love :

Crazy Little Thing Called Love is a song performed by the British rock band Queen, written by singer Freddie Mercury in 1979. While it peaked at number two in the UK, it hit number one on the U.S. charts on February 23, 1980, remaining there for three weeks. It topped the charts in Australia for six weeks.

The song is written in a rockabilly style, with Freddie singing in an Elvis Presley-esque way. Because of this many people mistakenly credit Presley for writing the song. (Sidenote: Even certain Elvis Presley fans seem to think this is an Elvis original - ironically, Presley passed away over two years before the song was released). It can be found on the 1980 album The Game, which also features the funky Another One Bites the Dust....

...The song was covered in 2003 by Michael Bublé in his debut album and in 2004 as a B-Side from McFly, in 1980 by The Chipmunks on their comeback album, Chipmunk Punk, and can occasionally be heard covered at the live gigs of Suffolk rockers The Darkness. Country singer Dwight Yoakam also covered the song in 1999.

Someone get me a copy of the chipmunk version! I gotta hear that! lol

Maybe paris could cover that one!

I don't think it can be the same song, because Elvis died in 1977, but CLTCL wasn't written until, I think, 1979 or 1980. Can't help Falling in Love, is classic Elvis and would be a good song for Tay.

Sorry, the song will say in the album written by Freddie Mercury. It was his tribute to Elvis, that's how good he was. WHAT THE $#%@! is up with these themes???? I mean the only one I know of that has been cool was Creed and Queen/Paul Rodgers, what's next the Slim Whitman of Bosnia? These kids should be doing rock and MODERN stuff, maybe next we will see Celtic and Gregorian chants from Miedevel Times. (However you spell it.)

Yes - in fact, that's the song he (Gedeon) sang for his 'last' performance. It can be sung again, and Taylor would sing it better than him if he chose to. Right, laraine? Our soul man can sing ANYTHING!

I AGREE - an Elvis song would be GREAT to hear - 'Love Me Tender' ?

Hate to break it to you sweetie, but whatever age I've been I've enjoyed it, doesn't bother me in the least to be almost 50. And desperate is just about the LAST adjective someone would use to describe me with.

"Desperate" is more likely the word one would use to describe a person who needs to fantasize about having a relationship with a talent show contestant (someone they've never even met) or who goes around suggesting that they won't watch the show anymore because they're favorite boy-toy got voted off----rightfully.

Come to think of it, that's not desperate, more like pathetic.
