I think it is polka versions of partridge family songs... there is a very slight chance I maybe wrong though.

You have it all wrong. It's a Partridge Family version of a rockabilly disco song night................;)
But I heard it was "70's night". So maybe we'll get songs like this...............

I hope they mix it up this year. I am tired of all the same themes.

Supposedly there will be a Broadway themed week with Andrew Lloyd Webber as the guest judge/ mentor.
And a Show Tunes night with Divine as judge/mentor?
Maybe someone will be gutsy and pull something like this from the 70's......

I agree they should be able to sing whatever they want to....As long as the songwriter doesn't have a problem with it.....

Love that song! Good dancing tune.

Saw Elvis do that tune at a concert at the Grand Ole' Opry (the newer one) in Nashville. He was a great showman in his day who really knew how to work the crowd.

Maybe they were trying to avoid what we've seen over the last two seasons with all the ladies singing Aretha tunes.

That would be pretty cool to be there and see that show.
It was when he did his "Almost Blue" tour. The album that came out with the country tunes (he did a GREAT version of "Why Don't You Love Me Like You Used To Do"). So he did 3 shows in the US on that tour. NY, LA, and the Opry. He came out and did a total concert of his "Almost Blue" stuff and the band said goodbye and went off stage. The encore was another concert of his "regular" stuff. He brought down the house with "Pump it Up" and "Shabby Doll".
Interesting though, a few years before that (right before "Accidents Can Happen" got much airplay) he played at a tiny club in Atlanta called "The 688 Club" not far from GA Tech campus. Before the show he was standing outside handing out singles (they were vinly in that day folks) of that song and inviting people to come see the show. A few days later the local station "96 Rock" started playing "Accidents Will Happen".

I bet he's a nice guy. He married our own Canadian Diana Krall. They probably have a home over here on one of the near by islands.
