Wow - Any thoughts on this theme. Have to admit I am not really looking forward to this one although, with some clarification, what are the "greatest love songs" of our time.

I don't know, but when you find out - let me know! Hopefully frank can help us out with that.

I think it could be Elliott's week to shine but I'm worried for Taylor..he's got to pick the right song

Yeah, we need either Frank or Gracie to help out with song selection. I don't see a HUGE problem with all those love songs to choose from, but some of the contestants still aren't consistent. I'm not worried about song choice as much as I'm worried about song delivery.

With the theme being "World's Greatest Love Songs" I guess there will be no renditions of "I Am the Walrus" again this week.

Yeah, or "I'm Too Sexy For My Shirt". I've been waiting for Chris to do that one. He's got that Right Said Fred thing going. I guess I'll have to wait another week.

Maybe a Simple Plan...or Nickleback...or Coldplay...or Maroon 5.....or something that wasn't around when dinosaurs walked the earth.

McFever, I am willing to cut you some slack because you are young; but you really need to come out from under that rock you've been living under.
I am 49 and I know who Coldplay, Nickelback, R.Kelly and Mary J. Bilge are (and like their music) so you can damn well take the time to find out about Bocelli!

Yeah, I would sooner listen to Simon f@rt in the shower than those 'bands'. You really show your credibility with that thread.

ROFL. After reading some of these posts aren't you utterly convinced that some segments of humanity must have stopped evolving right after the Cro Mangnum era?

After reading some of these posts aren't you utterly convinced that some segments of humanity must have stopped evolving right after the Cro Mangnum era?Evolution!!!!!!!!Come on, everyone knows that the Earth is only 6000 years old. I know that because Pat Robertson told me so. You know with this Bocelli week coming up, I have to believe that there will be some serious culture shock for some A.I. Viewers. I'm not going out on a limb by saying that I think a lot of viewers won't quite get it. I have listened to a few of his songs and so far most are all in Italian. I posted to his fans message board and wondered aloud if all of his music translates well into English. There's a frightening thought, Pickler trying to sing a song in Italian. lol.

I have to say I like Andrea Bocelli. I first heard of him at work at UMVD. I'm actually interested in the kind of advice he's going to give everyone. He can also be an inspiration to everyone. His last album Amore was great! I think he has this love song genre down.

THe guy is still "old".
And I may be surprised in the end.
But I'm still very adamant if I'm going to like it.

I did some research False, you grouchy "old" dinosaur, and found out some info on him.
Very operatic background. His daughter is blind, ever since 12, and he's very "italianic".
Visited his website, but I'll see if I can catch a clip of any of his songs.

Are you sure you read that correctly? Andrea himself is blind. But you're saying he also has a blind daughter?
As for a "sound alike" someone who is younger and (American) you might be familiar with: Josh Groban.

Oops...you're right.
Sorry.
Looked it up at Wikipedia, and was skimming through his discography.
I thought one of his children was blinded by a hemmorhage..but IT was HIM.
And Josh Groban is cool...I'll have to get used to "wiser"-_^ adults anyways.

The only thing I feel is certain, is that Katharine Mcphee will have her "moment" (as Simon would say) with Andrea! She will probably stand out alot this week. I think this is what her voice was made for!
But who knows, maybe I won't be in the corner with some of my fellow Chris and Elliott fans pouting!
Then we will have to listen to Falseidol!!!!!YUCK:o

Born 1958, Andrea Bocelli has a special love for the countryside. A law graduate from the University of Pisa, Andrea gained a fine reputation early in life with his powerful vocals.
His first love has always been music. Law was his family's preference but after crossing that legal threshold, Andrea became free to pursue his life's passion.
His idol at that time was Franco Corelli. For a while, he studied under several maestros. Even as a child, he was recognised for his fine voice. Then in 1992, Destiny decided to intervene.
A popular Italian rocker Zucchero was preparing the "Miserere" demo track. It was a duet to be recorded with the great tenor Luciano Pavarotti. A number of tenors auditioned for the part but somehow they were found unsuitable, until a young lad who possess an unusual passion for opera showed up.
He was Andrea Bocelli. When Pavarotti heard Andrea's voice, he was captivated by the young Tuscan tenor. When Pavarotti insisted that he wanted only this "unknown talent", Zucchero relented.
The rest as they say is history. From then on, Andrea's music career was unstoppable, especially after he emerged victorious in the prestigious Sanremo Song Festival.
Andrea's sensational "Il Mare Camo Dello Sera" turned him into a great Italian discovery. His career reached the stratospheric level when he partnered Britain's Sarah Brightman in "Con Te Partiro" (Time To Say Goodbye).
Andrea's solo of that song hit France's singles chart. The duet version with Brightman stayed as No. 1 in the German singles charts for 14 weeks. With sales reaching almost 3 million, the song remained Germany's best selling single up till today.
About 10 years ago (1996), Andrea captured worldwide attention with his chart-topping album "Romanza". The album quickly gained momentum and finally obtained multi-platinum status. Sales shot to about 13 million copies.
Then in 1999, for the first time in 38 years in Grammy history, a classical singer was nominated in the Best New Artiste category for his duet with Celine Dion. The song was "The Prayer" for the movie The Quest for Camelot".
Since the new Millennium began, Andrea's music career has been coloured by a litany of remarkable achievements. He has sang for Kings, Queen, Prime Ministers, Presidents, Premiers and Popes.
There seems to be no mountains he has not conquered. Andrea Bocelli today continues to regal world audiences with his mastery of opera pieces and other great numbers.

McFeverish,
How old are you? You don't know who Andrea Boccelli is? You didn't even know who Karen Carpenter was. Don't your parents teach you anything? Yes, there was music before the year 2000, and it was pretty damn good. I suggest you become a little more well-rounded musically before you make statements like that.
