He was pretty good.
Twice he's done his own version of the song he's chosen. And he chose songs that fit his style. I do agree with Simon on one thing, if he were a rock star his agent would NEVER have allowed that interview to be taped and aired.

Well done. Liked the arrangement. It showed the attitude of the original song but didn't duplicate it. Like I said, so far only he and Castro have done original arrangements in each of their performances. Those two, and Archuletta are my faves.
I do want a set of those pickups though.

Why was he such a D!ck to Simon afterwards? Who do these kids think they are? AI owns their @$$es and their careers, and they talk trash like they are so above it. David Cook was very good, but Simon did have a point. Don't run your mouth at him like a brat! Just take the constructive criticism and be quiet. If you know America likes you, keep it to your arrogant self!
Yuck! I am starting to dislike him now!

I just loved it! I think now I am a fan of his! hehehe. I didn't have a favorite, but I have liked what he has done recently, and this was it! The way he transformed the whole song into his own style! I think if you have never heard that song before, you would have actually think this was a rock song! Well done for DC.

David cook gets praised for doing the same thing week after week while other who show more versatility get criticised for not being original enough or not taking chances. Total double standard. Hey I have a novel idea for David how about not changing every song you sing into a rock song.

That doesn't make a lot of since Lancelot. Why wouldn't he change every song into a rock song? That seems to be his musical taste. It also shows his ability to create his own arrangements. How many rock songs does Mariah Carey sing? How many R&B songs does Metallica have? Plenty of artists stick to one style.

What he did last night was not a rock song but more of a ballad....He has been consistent about changing the arrangements of songs and the other contestants have not been doing this like Cook has.......

I agree with you THR, I felt it as a ballad, not a rock song, and IMO, it was just enough for me to think that he actually changed a little bit his usual gender into something softer like what he did yesterday, and I believe that he is the only true musician among the contestants because he actually changed the whole thing from Mariah's into David's, and it work perfectly for me! I would buy a cd with his renditions or the performances that he has had so far.

I was sooo excited when they said David was sining "Always Be My Baby" it's my favorite Mariah Carey song! I think David definitely has what it takes to be an recording artist.

I just, finally, watched last nights show and I think David Cook is the only one worthy to win AI.
Yeah, but winning AI might not be the best thing for his career. I think he'd be better long term by going out #3 or so.

Daughtry went out at #4 and he still is under contract with Clive Davis.....He had to get an entire new band and all of his old band mates had to try out for his new band and none of them made it inti his new band same thing with Taylor although I do believe one of his band mats did make it....Cook won't have that problem but he will have to sign with them and give a large percentage of his earnings to them..

Thank you very much THR! I actually liked his performance, didn't love it as I loved Always be my baby, BUT, still it showed what Randy mention, if you are a singer, you can sing whatever, and this was a pretty nice rendition for the song, and the most interesting thing IMO is that he kept it as it is, didn't put that rock twist into the song, and showed that he can also sing a nice soft song from time to time ;) Very nice to hear this from him.

DCs best performance yet. He finally actually just sang a song without making it rock and roll. With Archy not totally on his game lately DC moves into my favorite along with the rest of you. I still think that when Archy is on he is better than DC but DC is more consistent.

I didn't like Simon's comments on his performance. He said he didn't like it as much as when he's singing more raunchy or something along those lines. I thought who cares what you like more just critique his fricken performance for this weeks theme!!!! He did a fantastic job.

By the by, what do portable dvd players go for in the USA? We are taking my 3 yr old to Hawaii in Sept and I need a distraction for him while flying. I'll check Ebay but you can end up with a Lemon with that type of purchase?
