American Idol is about talent, and it shouldn't matter how much experience a contestant may or not have. Also, if one is a singer the chances are high that at sometime in their life that they probably utilized that talent.

I really wasn't that impressed with her audition. If they want to give her a chance, I guess we will see if she is any good.

I don't think he is creepy, just really into tattoos. I have met people with facial tattoos. It doesn't make them psychos. It is just a personal style choice. I don't get it, as I don't have a single tattoo, but I don't get many style choices that people make.

You all know Karly is my favorite. I LOVE Heart. Karly was not as good as Nancy Wilson but who is? It was great to hear Simon say that none of the other women can touch her vocally. I think that might be overstating the case some of the other women are very good but I do think that Karly is the best.

I haven't seen the girls yet tonight, but I find the "boring" label a little strange. Do people actually watch performances outside of Idol and say, "Boy that was boring!" or "Gosh that was exciting!"? I think folks are picking too much up from Randy and Simon (especially Randy) in judging songs and singing as "boring". Can't we do better than that? At least no one is accusing every other singer of being "a little pitchy". Man is that getting boring! (Also, "pitchy" isn't even a real word!)

I didn't think it was fair to have both Blake and Jordin sing the same song....Blake should have been given something that was for his style....I am not saying that I am Blake fan because far from it....However it appeared to me that they were pimping jordin to win....Her version of Broken wings was good but Melinda out performed her each and very week and the only reason she was voted off is because peeps judged on looks and not vocal skills..IMO Melinda was the best vocalist last year....

Now onto Season 5 Daughtry would have been stuck singing whatever crap they wanted him to sing without having a say...One of the reason's Taylor's CD came out so late was disagreements as to what would be on the CD....When we went to see them in Milwaukee my favorite 2 performances had Daughtry singing in them one was Savin' Me with Elliott Yamin and the other was Patience with Chris, Bucky, Elliott and Ace and much to my surprise Ace was top notch in that song it was spectacular....

Melinda had a great voice. Lakesha was one of the strongest voices I ever heard. Jordin had it all though. She had the BIG voice like the other two but was more pleasant to listen to. As for Melindas looks I didn't think she was pretty but I think she was cute. Jordin by hollywood standards was overweight. Jordin did not win for her looks and melinda did not lose for her looks. They were both worthy and Jordin happenned to win.

If by the total package you are talking about pop star looks and voice none of the contestants had the total package. As I stated previously Jordin is overweight according to hollywood or pop star criteria. Melinda IMO was cute. If I was voting based on looks I would have favored Melinda. Maybe you are right about this but I just don't see it that way. Better voice was Jordin. I think 80% of the voters vote for the better voice but I could be wrong. If it was about looks obviously Lakesha wouldn't have made it as far as she did. So if it was a question of looks getting the votes it was probably Lakesha who got burned not Melinda. How about the year that Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard were the finalists. When Taylor Hicks won Katherine McPhee was both better looking and had a better voice so what statement does that make? I guess people just liked Taylor. I know I did but I would have voted for McPhee in the finals and Daughtry is the one who should have won.

Ok, last night KKKristy, Kady, and Brooke inspired a sense of ennui in me. They were dreary, dry, humdrum, dull, monotonous, tedious, tiresome, uninteresting, and wearisome. Is that better? :p

Yes, I do watch performances outside of Idol all the time! I direct plays and musicals, coach the singing, choreograph the dances, and yes, I do know what a good performance is and a cruddy one.

Kady just isn't a performer and KKK really is forgettable. At least Brooke knows her limits, and works within them. Unfortunately, that is what makes her so much less for me, when looking at the others in the competition.

One last thing on that: No matter what the contestants ACTUALLY are like, vocally or otherwise, people are going to like who they like. That is just how it is! Please don't take it personnally if I rip your fave a new one. I am not saying you suck, nor even that your opinion sucks. I am just making an observation about a contestant and stating my opinion, albeit rather forcefully. I am not a shrinking viollet ;)

I do base my opinions about the contestants on vocal ability and performance. I also base it on how they act with the judges. Personality is a factor in this competition, let's just face it! I don't like Chick's personality AT ALL, but dude tore it up last week, and I will give him his due. I really liked it.............until he started the post performance insanity, shrieking the house down and lumbering about like a tranquilized elephant! (That was not a comment about his weight, just the way he carried himself) However, I digress...Chick was great, Karly was great, and I am not a fan of either. David Cook, at first not a favorite, is now in the top three for me, based solely on performance. Plus, he's seems cool to me (although he yelled after his performance as well.............and I dislike him again).

See? I am as fickle and finicky as can be. Perhaps one could say, like a cat? HMMMMMMMM? HEEHEE!

.i wasn't a carly fan in the beginning, but after hearin her rendition of 'here you come again',and absolutely nailin those beautiful high notes [without screamin], i am now a fan.she can do what 99% of professional singers dont have the ability to do, and that is to top out a beautiful high note without great increase of volume, and the ability to maintain soft tones during the course.

Maisha Carly is the style of singer I like. I like her rock and roll edge. She sings rock ballads very nice. I would love to hear her cover some evanescence. I think her only weakness is that often when she goes for all the marbles with the big notes she actually does scream a little but you are right about her very unique rendition of "Here You Come Again". I think THR is totally right, and by the way, in the case that she actually gets a contract or anything like that winning or not AI, we are not going to see much of her husband anyways. I understand that she likes her tattoos and she wants to show them, but it wouldn't hurt her to use some sleeves in one of the shows to see if it is really going to impact on the viewers and votes that she receive. I don't like tattoos on me, but I like her upper tattoo, the one that looks like a face, and I don't really think it will affect the results at all, because if you think about it, MANY young people has tattoos nowadays, and even middle age people. So summarizing, If she is going to get the votes, she will no matter her husband, nor her tattoos! :)

LOC i do care a about performer appearance and actions.unfortunately many young and impressionable eyes are watching.six,eight,ten,twelve year old girls and up are taking notice.what they wear,the lyrics,etc...

at one of my friends house she had karoake at a birthday party.we were really embarassed when two 9 year old girls got in front of the monitor and sang the boyz to men lyrics,

"Girl are you ready, it's gonna' be a long night

I'm gonna take my clothes off too".

Yes I did say that appearance can make the differerence. I don't think it did last year. The three most talented were Melinda, Jordin and Lakesha. Now certainly Lakesha who was a 100 plus pounds overweight wasn't going to be helped. Melinda was cute and not overweight. Jordin was pretty but overweight by Hollywood standards. I just don't see Jordin having an edge on Melinda based on appearance. I think Melinda fans are just looking for a reason that their favorite didn't win. Melinda was great and would have been a totally deserving winner. Jordin I liked slightly better and she ended up winning and was very deserving. That is the point I am trying to make. I give the audience credit for voting for the winners. This is American Idol and whatever America is looking for is the right winner. I think that the judges tend to sway the audience but overall the American public gets what they want. Not what I want or you want but what America as a whole wants.

Lance Melinda had the nick name of Shrek.....Which to me is an insult how can someone say that her looks did not get in the way when peeps called her that? Lakisha also very talented even more so than the winner but Melinda the best of the group last year she out sang Jordin each and every week after saying that I do believe that Jordin won because of her looks VS. those of Melinda's or Lakisha's......It is truly a shame when peeps can't listen with their ears instead of their eyes....I don't know about everyone else but I don't have enough money to go to a concert every time I want to hear my favorite songs or singers....

Than I would have voted with my ears and voted for Jordin's slightly more pleasant voice. I just don't see this obvious better voice of Melinda thing. Voice was a virtual three way tie IMO. It was interesting discussing it but I am now done with this subject as I just don't see anything more to say about it. For all of you Melinda fans I think she was very good and would have made a deserving champion.

Lance Melinda had the nick name of Shrek.....Which to me is an insult how can someone say that her looks did not get in the way when peeps called her that? Lakisha also very talented even more so than the winner but Melinda the best of the group last year she out sang Jordin each and every week after saying that I do believe that Jordin won because of her looks VS. those of Melinda's or Lakisha's......It is truly a shame when peeps can't listen with their ears instead of their eyes....I don't know about everyone else but I don't have enough money to go to a concert every time I want to hear my favorite songs or singers....

I know of some not that good looking singers that are actually very popular among the people here in LatinAmerica, as is the case of Marco Antonio Solis who is not even close to good looking, as well as Jennifer Lopez husband, Mark Anthony, he is the total opposite of a good looking person, nevertheless, when they release a new cd or have a concert around, those are going to be sold out almost immediately because they are actually very talented singers in the ears of many people. (Not my case, I don't like their music, but I have to admit that both of them are very good singers in their genres).

And I think, as many people, that Melinda was actually the best performer last season, I actually find her voice more pleasant than Jordin's (and I don't mean to be conflictive with LOC ;) ) nevertheless, she didn't win eventhough she was one, not to say the most talented last season. (Even my friend who doesn't speak nor understand English liked her over her looks :p)

It's nice to see another Melinda fan around and someone who listens with there ears and not their too!!!! back in the day before we had music videos there were tons of people whose looks were not the best that had successful careers.....Some still do like Mick Jagger and Bette Midler...
