I might be alone on this one but..... I thought he sounded flat and didn't do the song justice....... However, he does have charisma and I suspect he'll wow me in his other performances.

He might not be fanstantic vocally, but he's good on stage and managed to capture the audiences' attention.
I love watching him:boldred::boldred::boldred:.

I also thought his voice fell off on some of the big notes. He does have a great stage presence though. He's safe for this week.

I think he needs to brush his hair.
No, he won't sell alot. He's too old, like Taylor Hicks. He'll be entertaining to watch, but once it's over, nobody will care.

I am thinking he has a great chance to win it all. One thing that bugs me is that Simon and others thought he had this amazing performance on Bohemian Rhapsody while I thought that song showed his lack of range. He was practically monotone compared to the original version of that song by Freddy Mercury.I believe David Archuletta easily has a better voice but I think in the mens competition Davids age works against him.

Although, I thought he was among the best of the guys that night, I didn't really like his performance of "Light My Fire".

Well, he names The Beatles as one of his major musical influences, so that makes me like him that much better.
Light My Fire is not easy to sing. Michael did a creditable rendition of it without mimicking Morrison, while keeping its energy level up. I have him in the top 6 right now.
since unchained melody is simon's favorite song of all time, I think danny should sing it some time.

That's a tough one. It has a couple of notes up in the nosebleed section. Pickler couldn't deliver it. I believe that was her last tune before going off the show. But if someone ever pulls it off well, they'll have Simon as a fan for life.

He fell flat again. I don't think he's very good.
I thought he was off key a LOT on his song last night. It simply wasn't good. I can sing off key like that. Not impressed with this at all. Why the 'judges' didn't rip him on this I don't know.

Did you guys notice that Randy totally made an @$$ of himself, saying that Michael had returned to his roots and sounded like Michael Hutchens? Wrong band, Randy! Simple Minds did that song, not INXS (which is whom I said he SHOULD sing, BTW!)
It was decent, but not the best of the night.

I think he may have meant that he looked like Michael Hutchen's because that is what I was thinking when I saw his performance. If only he had the voice to match! This guy still is missing something. He can't quite get passed this mediocre voice. I'm hoping as one of the judges said, was it Simon, that he needs to find the right song to showcase his voice. Does such a song exist?

We were just talking about the Olive Garden last night, for we were craving it! My hubby's boss called him last night very concerned about his assistant. She hasn't showed up for work in two weeks without a call. She had, had surgury earlier and went back to work but then she said she wasn't feeling well and went home. They haven't heard from her since!! The boss asked my hubby to drive to her home and check on her which was an hour away. It was bad timing as hubby was packing to go on a business trip and was leaving today. So all of us jumped in the car and headed out to this woman's house. There was no one home and the place looked like no one has been home in awhile. She had the one light on to shew away burglars it appeared. So after that we thought we'd go for dinner and the Olive Garden came to mind but there wasn't any, so we picked a great Japanese place on the beach strip.
As for the woman, they are going to start phoning hospitals today and see if they can find her. Hopefully she is safe. Apparently her ex husband re-married so hopefully she isn't in a depressed state of mind.

After reading Idolme's post about ordering in Mexican I suddenly became starved! For a quick fix I took my son to Kentucky Fried chicken. Unfortunately there was a young woman in the restaurant sucking the food, very loudly, out from her teeth. My 3 year old found it hilarious and tried to copy the sound. I found it disgusting and lost my appetite. After making these gawd awful noises she than grabbed a napkin and wiped all her teeth with it! GAG!!!! Then she got up and ordered more food and that did it for me so we left.

I can't get into the food/restaurant talk, because we don't have the Olive Garden or the Mexican restaurant up in Toronto anymore - too bad, 'cuz I loved the Olive Garden when it was here, and whenever we go to Florida we always go at least once. So, alas, I'll try to restart the Michael John chat again....
I can't stand him. Originally, I thought he was pretty good, but too old, and I thought he was kinda cute. But, no more. He really can't sing, and week after week, I think/hope the judges will recognize it, but for some reason they just don't. I don't get it. I fear he'll break the top 5 or better. My hope is that since America got it right this week with the bottom 3, that America will also get it right with him. But, I think America allows themselves to get swayed by the judges, and since the judges aren't criticizing him, America doesn't see it. Please - open your ears!!!!

Johns was one of the best this week. "Across the Universe" is a difficult song to sing, and he found its essence perfectly. I guess it doesn't help to open your ears if they're full of wax and made out of tin!

I'll put my ears up against anyone's, and what I heard sounded like Tom Jones singing Across the Universe. That may work for some, but not for me.
BTW, it is not a difficult song to sing. The range is easy. The only thing a singer has to be mindful of on that song is breath control on the long phrases. It takes no great voice to do.

I totally agree! Where were the money notes? Not there, because Johns will not or cannot sing in his upper register or his falsetto, whatever you want to call it. This is disappointing as he was supposed to be this amazing professional singer, but he doesn't hit the big notes? BOOO!
