I know there are alot of Paris haters on this forum. However I really think she has a legitimate shot to win the whole thing. She's consistent every week. She's very versatile. Last night, I thought she was awesome. She's what the AI Producers are looking for. I think her and Katherine will be the last two standing.

Only problem with Paris is that she needs to decide what she wants to be. Agree she's one of, if not the, best vocalists left. And I agree with Paula that she could record that Great American Songbook and it would sell. But she's so versatile I'm still not sure we know who she is. Not a knock on Paris, but rather a compliment. I think once she decides what musical style she prefers and sticks with it, she'll be a star. The only 'average' performance I've seen from her was when she did that Beyonce' song. And that was just because the song wasn't as good as she was. Absent that, all her vocals are exceptional. Some tend to knock her as 'robotic', but she's seventeen years old for goodness sake. How many 17 year olds do you think could get up and do what she's done only once and keep their emotions in check? She's done it (maybe even too well) for months now in front of millions of people. If she doesn't win AI5, she'll still be a star some day. She's just too good not to be one.

RushDog I can GUARANTEE you that there are two people who have absolutely no shot of winning this year's competition---me and Paris! :D

I agree X1--Why should Paris pick one genre ands stick to it? What can't she continue to be a chameleon--sing a variety of songs and dress for the song? Why be like everyone else? Chris-the rocker; kelly the country singer, etc.

I like the fact that Paris does her best to give a complete performance down to the clothes she wears. I like that she is unpredictable, and I find it refreshing. I already know what the others will do--Tayor will jump around like a mexican jumping bean on steroids, Kellie will say a couple of dumb things and perform a mediocre song...it's the same every week.

I like that she is a non-conformist. At her young age she has enough confidence to do her own thing. Why should she pick only one genre and stick to it? I like that she gives the show flavor--not the same old bland s*** every week.

I think Paris is extremely unlikable. Yes, she can sing and scream loud and I can't believe she isn't putting on that ridiculous speaking voice a little. I KNOW she's only a child and I shouldn't pick on her. I hope to see her go, probably next week ... after young Ace this week ... or maybe Elliott because he's not pretty enough ...:D

Why do I have to "HATE" a contestant, when I don't call them my favorite.
It seems to be 2 catagories....1. My favorites
OR
2. Contestants I hate
Well I do not want Paris to win, I have not truly enjoyed any of her performances. BUT I do not hate her..

Chris-the rocker; kelly the country singer, etc. Well, if I may take a stab at answering this one, I think it's about connectivity with the audience and building up a solid fan base. To connect with the audience you have to establish your identity. Usually, that identity is most often associated with music genre. Let's take a look at those remaining finalists who have, without question, already done so: Taylor, Chris, and Kellie... the sould patrol, the rocker, and the country girl. These three all have enormous fan bases. They stick to the genre that suits them best, and they build their fan bases based on that genre. Sure, when you stick to a particular genre or 'identity', you will alienate many viewers, but it's how you build a solid fan base. People will love you or hate you. But that's better than them being unsure about you. While they're unsure about you, they're voting for the other contestants.I like that she is a non-conformist. At her young age she has enough confidence to do her own thing.I like it too. But I would bet a lot of people don't see it that way... and not having established her identity has likely left a lot of people questioning themselves as to whether they really like her or not. For me, she's really started to impress the last three weeks or so (well, Queen week was just... well... odd...), but I'm afraid it's just too late because I've already liked some of the other contestants for so long now. I would imagine a lot of people feel the same way.

I see what you mean as far getting a fan base to win the competition, which really is the bottom line. You are also right that it is probably too far along for her to get that fan base in place--especially considering the huge following some contestants have and yes, she will probably be in the bottom three, but her performance last night did not earn her that spot--she gave a stellar performance.

She is not my favorite female, Katharine is...but Paris is damn good and if she ever settles down to one genre I hope it is jazz.

Fanbase is DEFINITELY important, and that's why southerners have been the dominant force.

They appealed to their demographics.

Paris, Katharine, Elliot, and Ace don't have that kind of genre to identify with.

But Taylor, Kellie, and Chris are so "right" in terms of demographical prowess.

That's why all the winners from AI so far are all from the south.

Love the south too^_^

Couldn't agree more on both points. I feel the same way about Elliott. I'm liking him more and more each week, but for most of the way along, I've been undecided on him. At this point, I just don't know if I'd be ready to shift any of my votes away from Chris, Katharine or Taylor to him. But, I think out of the remaining contestants he would actually NEED the win the most in order to get a record deal. Paris, Chris, Katharine, Taylor, Ace and Kellie can probably move on to record deals without winning AI5. I include Ace and Kellie in this bunch, not because they can sing (I think they're both only mediocre), but because they do have sizeable fan bases, which equates to profits, if you're a record exec.

Agreed--Elliott came on my radar about three weeks ago and I have really watched him closely. I disagree with Simon's critique of Elliott's performance last night because I thought he did show emotion and performed well.

You are probably right about the record deals, Elliott hasn't learned to promote himself--he is too humble. To make others believe in you, you got to have the fire first!
