Simmon really started kissing some tight Katherine "a" tonight (April 18)!

Katherine was okay...but to say she made all the others look like amateurs...is ridiculous!

Simmon was really trying to butter that muffin!

Personally I thought PARIS had the best performance of the night!

I agree with you on Katharine. She looked nice, sings well, but actually bored me. Kellie did worse than she ever did. Chris was good, Ace and Elliott were pretty good, so was Paris but.....

OMG...........Taylor is the bomb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Katherine was good tonight and professional, but! Paris has been like that for a long time now. Plus, Simon's remark about Elliot and personality. Elliot was the best on his personality tonight then he has ever been. Do not listen to Simon, Folks, vote on who you like, please.

The audacity-_^

Oh well, forsake my gentlemanly manners...hand me some more butter friend!^_^

You know, McMuffin is a decent singer, really white teeth....
But if she is going to win give it to her now. She seems to be a mini me version of Linda Ronstadt, who by the way is a much better singer.

I loved Kat performance, but sorry Paris was better than her, and also Chris did a great job, very different from his usual rocky style, so it is not fair to say that tonight was "Kat's night" and that she was miles away from the others... Maybe Simon falled in love for her as McFeverish...

Kat may be beautiful, but I think its her singing voice that people will be drawn to more. Looks shouldnt matter because unless you have some super powers, and can see the person singing, you'll only hear their voice on the radio

Simon is conceited. Whenever he wants someone voted off, he comes up with these unfair criticisms. He couldn't stand Gideon's smile, Paris' voice is like Mickey Mouse, and Elliott personality didn't stand out. I beg to defer on all counts. I agree that Katherine was good, but she is not simply the best, better than all the rest! Of the two ladies left, I think Paris has the best voice all around. I am not swayed by any of the judges comments, I judge for myself and vote from my heart.

Excuse me but Kat has been my #2 behind Chris, every week religiously, because YES she is beautiful and YES that girl has pipes .... BUT Elliott SHOWED his personality tonight and that was a terrible comment Simon made, the first time Elliott has shown it so well, AND he looked incredibly handsome. and guess what? It took awhile for Elliott to win me over, but once he did, forget it. He is SOOOO talented, and as I vote tonight, his line I cannot get thru!!! This better be a Good indication that he is SAFE as he SHOULD be!!!!!!!! Because if this thing is fixed, sorry but there's no way Ace is better than Elliott, nor a few others, and I won't mention their names !! Kat can always do it, but she was not the BEST tonight. If you base your opinion on tonight, then VOTE for who SANG!!!! Chris, Elliott and Paris, baby :) bye bye now, more later

Paris was sooo polished and had that edge - call it "Billie Holiday" or whatever. Yes you could say the song, the style, was too old for her? But guess what? That was an extremely polished performance. As Paris always is. She is in the Top 3 tonight!!! You remember that!! :)

Blondie
04-18-2006, 10:42 PM
again the top 3 tonight are Chris, Elliott and Paris. Hey I'm not trying to sway anyone's vote. Ha Ha. C'mon keep voting!!!!!

I think katharine is amazing and beautiful, and humble. She doesn't have to make stupid comments to get attention. she comes out, sings her heart out and certainly doesn't butcher what she tries to sing like the dingy blonde everyone seems to think is "sooo" wonderful. Taylor bores me because if I wanted to watch some drunk fool run around and kick things over, (or miss 1st then re-kick), and dance like a person with a bad twitch I would go to a nursing home, give some of the old me some booze and they'll look exactly like a taylor hicks performance. I think Chris did really well too, and Elliott.

I did NOT like Paris because she is always going to be that 17 year old girl who is trying so hard to sound like her mother, and grandmother and she sings like she is imitating someone instead of being herself. I don't like her just like I didn't like mandisa. The two of them are just like every other powerful African American woman at church services any given Sunday with a voice that can belt high into the rafters. Does that mean they should get a record deal? Why are they so special when they're generic sounding?? That is why Katharine and Elliott and Chris are the best 3!!!!

Blondie
04-18-2006, 10:55 PM
Mandisa was voted off LONG before her time!!! She deserved to be in the top 4!!!!! She and Elliott have more singing talent, than any of the others, based strictly on talent. This has nothing to do with church. This has to do with Mandisa was like the next Aretha Franklin coming out. She was BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING. Dont get me wrong, I love Katherine. Chris and Katherine I believe are the top 2. But for you to slam Mandisa, and African American women who can belt out gospel is just WRONG!!! Mandisa and Paris both have PIPES too, baby.

cloie4me
04-18-2006, 10:58 PM
If Mandisa had kept her faith a secret, you never would have compared her to a church singer.

Also, I guess not everyone agreed with you, she's already getting calls.

Blondie
04-18-2006, 11:21 PM
Katherine is consistent. But I don't believe she made the others look like amateurs. It was actually a very good show, and I was worried about them having to sing something so old and boring as Rod Stewart! But for anyone to knock Mandisa or Paris, or compare them to "Holy Rollers" or whatever is just wrong. They both have incredible talent, and by the way, there is nothing wrong with FAITH. I think that was a very ridiculous and mean comment. God is great, after all!!!

Stephanie's comments didn't strike me as slam against African American women singers or gospel music---it sounded like a an observation. She feels that Mandisa and Paris' singing is generic and lacks uniqueness, the type of singer you can find every Sunday in hundreds of gospel choirs across America. I suspect there is alot of truth to that.

You are free to disagree with that assessment, of course, but it is ridiculous for every anti-Mandisa post to be immediately turned into a debate on race relations, Christianity or the true nature of God.

The dangerous stretch in this Idol highway of discussion is when the conversation careened out of control and veered into religious territory.

The point to be noted is that matters of a personal nature like religion, unwarranted attacks on personal beliefs do not have a place in a forum like this. It's all about entertainment and we all want to have some fun, and hopefully a healthy discussion without going for anybody's jugular.

Almost all of us don't know each other except for the pen-names and the unpredictable verbal ramblings, no matter how amusing.

Basically, everybody is a nice person. That's my personal philosophy anyway. Let's give each other a chance. It's just the American Idol. We can be passionate but let's not become belligerent and totally irrational.

OK, break it up and let's get back to the game, as they say. Peace, brothers and sisters.

FalseIdol

We can be passionate but let's not become belligerent and totally irrational.

But surly and slightly irrational is still okay, right? :D

Look, I admire people who are proud of their faith, I like to consider myself a religious person. What I think people tend to object to is when others use their faith as a weapon or as a trump card in an effort to cram their morality down someone else's throat. And usually those epsistle's come just about the time someone doesn't like what has just been written.

For example:

Poster #1 I think Elliott Yamin sucks.
Poster #2 How can you say that? He has the voice of an angel.
Poster #1 I don't care, he comes across as a dork.
Poster #2 You know God wouldn't appreciate you saying that about one of his creatures...
Poster #1 Well, you got the creature part right!
Poster #2 Are you one of them Jew-boys or Muslim fellas? You sure don't sound like a God fearing Christian to me.
Poster #1 Perhaps because I'm Hindu
Poster #2 Well, anyone who thinks cows are sacred is probably going to hell too. Elliot bashers and cow-lovers damned forever to the Lake of Fire. Now good day to you. I might not be saved just by talking to you.
Poster #1 But...but...
Poster #2 No buts about it. My God is the "correct" God and you sir are going straight to hell. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

:D :D :D

I agree with you to an extent. Paris does have a great voice, and she probably is better than the other 2.....however, Elliott is about as exciting as an ingrown toenail....He doesnt bring much to the stage with him but his voice. And as far as Gideon is concerned, his smile was pretty out there, but that was no reason for him to be voted off. And I dont think it was the reason he was voted off at all. he just didnt have the peoples attention. If your gonna try to become something as big as an American Idol, you better be prepared to get yourself noticed. Thats one reason Kellie will always be remembered, she acted like a ditz. Same with Taylor. Thats my opinion.

When I was making a remark about Mandisa being like other African American woman who belt out in church, I wasn't saying this is a negative. I'm simply saying that she sounds the same as those women, so why should she be the special one to win AI?? I am sure there are other women who tried out for AI and didn't get on the show that might have had more talent than she did, and sang the same way. I think she was generic, and it's a sound I've heard a dozen times. Aretha, Patti Labelle, etc. all sound the same and we just crowned Fantasia AI winner and her voice is just a little raspier, but she and Mandisa are not far apart in style and sound, and Paris is in the same class. Just like that is why I do not want Kellie to win because we don't need another Carrie Underwood as our IDOL. We need to find someone with a different sound that previous winners, not keep picking the same boring styles of singers each year.
