I am beginning to believe that A.I. Producers are deliberately trying to push us over the edge. Who makes these idiotic "Theme week" crapola decisions? This week the final seven will have to choose from 21 songs from "The Mummy's" Great American Songbook. They are as follows;

1. Forever Young
2. Some guys have all the luck.
3. They can't take that away from me.
4. The way you look tonight.
5. These foolish things.
6. Moonglow
7. Everytime we say goodbye
8. the very thought of you.
9. That old feeling
10. You go to my head
11. For all we know
12. The nearness of you
13. That's all
14. We'll be together again
15. Rhythm of my heart
16. Downtown train
17. Maggie may
18. Young Turks
19. Hot legs
20. Having a party
21. I'll be seeing you.
Crap....there are more cd's done by this has been! three to be exact. Look at post down 2

The last time Stewart was relevant was when I was a junior in high school back in 1972. Think about it, Kenny Rogers, Barry Manilow, Queen, Mummy Stewart, Stevie Wonder....it goes on and on. Who makes these choices and why? This lineup reads like a travel brochure for Branson Missouri! They need to let the singers pick what they have to sing.

The hilarious part is that Rod Stewart actually thought the song "Maggie May" belonged on an album called "The Great American Songbook".

Stewart's never been relevant, imho, at least not since his days with the FACES.

I am shocked that AI would have limited the finalist to this songbook collection. Rod Stewart is OK but not a great choice for this competition anyway, but then to add to the misery they chose this songbook.

Thought "Maggie May" belonged, but isn't, right? I don't see it on the list.

Just asking (please don't be rude) - where did you get this list. It's far different than the one I have.

I'm shocked Sis...that you would think that I would be rude. My reputation proceeds me. This list I found on Amazon.com

Nine minutes prior to leaving this post you started a thread asking what the songs were.

Now you say Frank's list is different than yours. So where is your list???

Okay,
One last time. I apparently was not thorough enough in my research of "Wrinkles" Stewart's Great American Songbook Cd's. There are three volumes/Cd's in the whole collection. I only typed 21 of the more than 60+ songs that are on all three volumes. I'm not going to type all of them because I'm tired. You can find all of the song titles at amazon.com
OBTW YaYamiddlesister was correct in posting the songs that she knew to be on the great American songbook. The apparently was a PBS special titled the great american songbook that was done with the past fifty years of GASB
Why can't A.I. do it the right way?

Hey I agree with most of that, but Queen still rocks, now more than ever with Paul Rodgers ( and I was no fan of Paul before he headed out with Queen, but their DVD sold me totally). They definitely need more rockers, don't mind a Barry Manilow every once in a while but the entire season should not be old school, how about U-2, Foo Fighters, Van Halen, the Cars (yeah I know their old too) but they have to pick artists that have an extensive catalouge of music and hits to choose from, you can't pick milli vanilii and other such one hit wonders, Judas Priest maybe, just kidding.

Where is it?
Right in front of me. I'd printed it off of the internet last week after hearing that it wasn't Rod Stewart songs they were going to be singing. The list I have is titled 'Complete song list for "Great Songs From The Great American Songbook".

Please - be nice! That's all I'm asking. If you can't, then I'm going to ask you please DO NOT post any replies to me. I can't help but detect sarcasm in EVERYTHING you write.

I hope they sing some of the songs that Frank FORGOT to type! Those songs totally suck donkey b...... OOPS, can't say that on here. I'm tired of hearing the teens and 20-somethings sing songs that are older than them and possibly their parents. :(

Personally, I can't wait for them to select the greatest works of the Boy Band Era. NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, 98 degrees, All-4-One, O-town, even more dated ones like NKOTB, Menudo, etc. Wow, what a fantastic catalogue of music!

Hey, I think you're on to something, there, Absent! ;)

But remember this, all ingenius posters, they had a chance to pick songs from the 21st century and for the most part, the songs still sucked. I don't know where the brains are in this group (there are a precious few in exception to this).

Really, who could forget such great Amercian classics as Silk's "Freak Me Baby" or Shai's "If I Ever Fall In Love"?
