thats a tough question. Randy and I usually agree - though we have an occasional difference of opinion.
Paula is just sweet to everybody ... even when they don't deserve it ... but can't hate her for that. Love the way she dances and does the wave, she's a cute spirit ...
Simon - brutally honest and sometimes WRONG ... But still I gotta love the whole mix :) They need each other :)
Have fun tonight Idol fans :) !!!

THe American Idol producers are brilliant.
Are these judges fully qualified, and even "judge" contestants justly at night?
NO!
But would AI ever be the same without funky Randy, sweet Paula, and grouchy Simon...NO.
I love these judges, and AI wouldn't be the same without them.

Actually, the person "most qualified" to be an American Idol judge is Randy Jackson.
Randy is well known as a music producer as well as a musician. So when he gives comments, he actually knows what he's talking about. He has been working in the music industry for a better part of 25 years.
He used to be an executive at MCA Records as well as Columbia Records. He has worked with people like Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and N'SYNC.
He is a double major graduate (music and psychology) fo the Southern University. At one time, he was the bass player for the band Journey. But you won't recognise him from the pictures taken back those days. He had a different hairstyle.
Paula's full name is Paula Julie Abdul. She's has Syrian-Brazilian/French-Canadian bloodlines. Born on June 19, 1962, she was the youngest of two daughter to a man who was once a livestock trader.
In the early 1980's, Paula beat hundreds of others who auditioned for the cheerleader position for the LA Lakers. Her reputation expanded after she was selected as the LA Lakers head cheerleader.
It was when she choreographed for Janet Jackson's music videos that she gained further prominence. Among the notable achievements were Janet's hits "What Have You Done For Me Lately" and "Nasty".
Paula's claim to fame rests with her six single No. 1's "Straight Up", "Forever Your Girl", "Cold Hearted", "Opposites Attract", "Rush, Rush" and "Promise Of A New Day".
This inimitable singer and dancer has more than 30 million album sales to her name. So she's in a good position to comment on anyone's singing talents. Paula is well known for her total absence of malice and tactlessness in offering opinion in the American Idol shows.
Simon Cowell is famous for his uncanny ability to pick musical talents. He began his association with the music industry in 1979 when he worked as an executive for EMI Music Publishing.
His excellent track record with EMI compelled BMG to offer him a consultant's post. He's the man behind the two famous boy bands Five and Westlife. Besides that, credit was also given to him for TV hit shows like "Zig and Zag", "Teletubbies" and "Robson and Jerome".
Simon's popularity didn't really take hold on the world until he partnered the other Simon (Fuller) to start a show called Pop Idol in Britain. That show earned him megabucks and from then on, there was no stopping him.
Today, he's reputed to be worth more than 33 million sterling pounds.
And he has a track record of achieving record album sales for his music proteges that's hard to beat.
But it is his mouth that has made him even more famous in America. Today, he's known to be the best loved hated judge in AI.
