Ace asking the legend Brian May to change We Will R U was probably the lamest thing (next to William Hung) in Idol history. The beat is only played constantly at every sports event in the world and is the single most recognized beat and anthem in rock history. What a moron, he is lucky to be there in the first place. His rendention of WWRU would make Boy George roll over in his grave the freaking guy isn't even dead yet. As for Queen not playing live, that was false advertising on the part of Fox, for Queen's last show (I believe) was scheduled for the same night, and Brian May's blog says they did not agree to play live. But they could have at least played a video of them from last week when the idolers were getting their much needed lessons in rock from the hands of the living legends. Wish they could have seen Paul Rodgers in action with Queen, so the idolers and the AI crowd could really get a look at what a real rock star and real vocalists sounds like. For those of you in doubt check out their #1 DVD Return of the Champions, probably the best Rock concert of ANY band EVER. Peace Out.

They make us listen to Barry Manilow and Kenny Rogers live, but not something cool like Queen. Next week Rod Stewart will sing, but not his good songs, just more elevator music crap.

Maybe he'll sing "Do you think I'm Sexy?" The all time lamest song ever! :D

When Chris changed Stevie wonder's song and even had Stevie help, I didnt hear any complaints. When he asked..Stevie wasnt rude, he helped. Does Queen have a seperate set of standards? Are they so much better than Stevie? They were there to help the contestants, did they help? no. The judges have preached to the contestants for 5 years....do it better, or do it different. I think peoples problem isnt with the "request" but with "who" requested it. No other artist on the show has had that attitude. I think it was lowdown and dirty. I lost respect for Queen, their arrogance made Katharine look like the preachers daughter.

They have the right not to change a thing...its their song, But if thats the way they felt they shouldn't have been on the show. If all they were going to do is play the music and allow the contestants to sing, we didnt need them. We could have played their CD.

I never once got the impression that Queen was there to coach the contestants, unlike Rogers and Manilow. I think they were there just to create a little buzz for the show, and to give the contestants an opportunity to do a number (albiet in an empty arena) with a real honest to goodness rock'n'roll band.

By the way, those rehearsals with (or performances if you prefer) with Queen must have taken place a couple of weeks ago. Did you happen to see who was sitting in the Pond audience with all the contestants? None other than Mandisa.

Finally, I don't think Brian May had a problem with somebody doing a different arrangement of Queen's work----I just took it to mean HE wasn't going to be doing the rearranging, something he probably didn't sign on for in the first place.

You might be right False, Maybe they weren't there to do what Barry and the others did. But I dont understand.......if they werent going to sing on Wednesday, and they weren't going to help the contestants, then why didnt AI save the money and use their on band? I dont think it was ratings, everyone who watches, usually watch every week.
AI seems to be crazy.

Thank you, that right there said it. I give Ace props for trying to make it his own. That's what American idol is about, he was the only one with balls to even pull a stunt like that.

I'll hold the cigarette in Aces mouth for the firing squad. I can't believe you guys think it is acceptable to try and change We Will Rock U to try and fit Aces pathetic whimpy voice. I don't care about Stevie Freakin Wonder and who else, and maybe you could have re-arranged ANOTHER queen song a little, but trying to re-do We Will Rock U is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO PLAY IT, it goes Boom Boom Bah, Boom Boom Bah, get it. Whoa you guys should all go home and get out your Justin Timberlake collection and have a pillow fight, if your hot I may watch. Peace Out.

whoa...someone's obsessed over Queen. It's american idol baby, not Queen's lovely little hits. Get over it, ace tried to change the song a tad bit, it's not like he was trying to make it a number one seller on the billboards chart *thank god*. Go cry a freakin' river.

I think that's about right, but in about 25 years they might start subtracting instead of adding.

I truly symphatise with Ace. He's constantly getting knocked about around these parts.
Frankly, he has a good voice, otherwise he won't be able to make it this far. Forget about his large base. America is not that dense.
Ace is fine but he lacks a certain raging fire in his belly. Probably what he needs most at this stage of the contest is a totally no-holds-barred performance and shock all his critics and give them goose-pimples.
Even if he leaves next week, he will be remembered as one of remaining final seven when tens of thousands had tried and didn't make it.
I like Ace's personality. Sometimes he seems unsure of himself but this comes down to his age and probably lack of experience. He will do very well in future. Every obstacle is but a stepping stone for someone with his talents.
Some talents just take a little longer to mature. When he does, the world better watch out.
Frankly, you can't have everybody singing the same way like Chris, Elliott or Taylor. Sometimes, you got to have an Ace in your pack. Know what I mean?

Well, if anyone should know a thing or two about goosing people it is probably ACE. :D

And there ain't no one who is going to remember this dude besides a few overweight teenage girls and frustrated housewives who will need to find new material for their sexual fantasies.

Back to paging through PEOPLE magazine for them, I guess.

ACE is a talentless pretender. A boy-toy who remains on the show only because people with a speed dialing fetish think they should vote for eye candy instead of good singers. A year from now no one will remember or care about him.

I'm sure Queen was picked because Simon is a big Queen fan, AND what better band to use with a million hits and to test the chops the the idol pretenders have (Freddie being one of the best singers ever). As for Rod and Queen being out of date, they have done more recent artists too, but do you want Justin Timberlake hits? There's not enough to go around. You almost have to pick an older band that has a lot of hits for the idols to pick from. If you like Green Day and Pink, go rent or buy the Return of the Champions DVD that Queen with Paul Rodgers just put out. I'm sure you would love it it RAWKS. Green Day will probably get done one of these days. Sorry to be so mean about Ace, but Simon's attitude is right, no sense coddling these people its such a dog eat dog business you have to be brutally honest.

You're right, except it will be less than a year from now before everyone forgets about him, except for about 10 million 14 year old girls.

The same 10 million 14 year old girls will also buy his cds, so if they push him thru, he might be a talentless pretender, but he will be 1 rich SOG.

wow, I thought they were doing Rod stuff, if they do that oldies hits crap he has been doing lately that is going to be lame, why have Rod on in the first place if your not going to do his catalouge of hits, didn't know that. (not that I'm a huge Rod fan, but he does have a lot of hits, be a good choice for the idol wannabes)

Hey I'm not saying I got upset over it, it got a slight laugh and cringe of embarassment from me that's all, I just don't see how you guys could defend that, and it SHOULD be Queen's lovely little hits. Hey they're not my total favorite band, but they are one of them. Peace out.
