Slash-and-burn columnist Ann Coulter shocked a cable TV talk-show audience Monday when she declared that Jews need to be "perfected" by becoming Christians, and that America would be better off if everyone were Christian.
Coulter made the remarkable statements during an often heated appearance to promote her new book on advertising guru Donny Deutsch's CNBC show "The Big Idea."
In response to a question from Deutsch asking Coulter if "it would be better if we were all Christian," the controversial columnist responded: "Yes."
"We should all be Christian?" Deutsch repeated.
"Yes," Coulter responded, asking Deutsch, who is Jewish, if he would like to "come to church with me."
Deutsch, pressing Coulter further, asked, "We should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians?" She responded: "Yeah."
Coulter deflected Deutsch's assertion that her comments were anti-Semitic, matter-of-factly telling the show's obviously upset host, "That is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews."
The show transcript of their conversation about Jews appears below:
DEUTSCH: Let me ask you a question. We're going to get off strengths and weakness for a second. If you had your way, and all of your — forget that any of them —
COULTER: I like this.
DEUTSCH: — are calculated marketing teases, and your dreams, which are genuine, came true having to do with immigration, having to do with women's — with abortion — what would this country look like?
COULTER: UMMMMM (pause) ... It would look like New York City during the Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like.
DEUTSCH: And what did that look like?
COULTER: Happy, joyful Republicans in the greatest city in the world.
DEUTSCH: No, no, no, no, but I'm talking about this country. You don't want to make this country — it's not about Republicans. I'm saying, what would the fabric of this country look like? Forget that the Republicans would be running the show.
COULTER: Well, everyone would root for America, the Democratic Party would look like Joe Lieberman, the Republican Party would look like Duncan Hunter —
DEUTSCH: No, no, no, I don't want — I'm not talking about politically the landscape. What would our — would we be safer? Would people be happier? Would they be more —
COULTER: We would be a lot safer.
DEUTSCH: Would there be more tolerance? Would there be — would women be happier, would the races get along better? The Ann Coulter subscription — prescription. What — tell me what would be different in our fabric of country, because —
COULTER: Well, all of those things.
DEUTSCH: I can give — I can give you an argument there would be more divisiveness, that there would be more hate —
COULTER: Oh, no.
DEUTSCH: That there would be a bigger difference between the rich and the poor, a lot of other — tell me what — why this would be a better world? Let's give you — I'm going to give you — say this is your show.
COULTER: Well, OK, take the Republican National Convention. People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America, they —
DEUTSCH: Christian — so we should be Christian? It would be better if we were all Christian?
COULTER: Yes.
DEUTSCH: We should all be Christian?
COULTER: Yes. Would you like to come to church with me, Donny?
DEUTSCH: So I should not be a Jew, I should be a Christian, and this would be a better place?
COULTER: Well, you could be a practicing Jew, but you're not.
DEUTSCH: I actually am. That's not true. I really am. But — so we would be better if we were — if people — if there were no Jews, no Buddhists —
COULTER: Whenever I'm harangued by —
DEUTSCH: — in this country? You can't believe that.
COULTER: — you know, liberals on diversity —
DEUTSCH: Here you go again.
COULTER: No, it's true. I give all of these speeches at megachurches across America, and the one thing that's really striking about it is how utterly, completely diverse they are, and completely unself-consciously. You walk past a mixed-race couple in New York, and it's like they have a chip on their shoulder. They're just waiting for somebody to say something, as if anybody would. And —
DEUTSCH: I don't agree with that. I don't agree with that at all. Maybe you have the chip looking at them. I see a lot of interracial couples, and I don't see any more or less chips there either way. That's erroneous.
COULTER: No. In fact, there was an entire "Seinfeld" episode about Elaine and her boyfriend dating because they wanted to be a mixed-race couple, so you're lying.
DEUTSCH: Oh, because of some "Seinfeld" episode? OK.
COULTER: But yeah, I think that's reflective of what's going on in the culture, but it is completely striking that at these huge megachurches — the idea that, you know, the more Christian you are, the less tolerant you would be is preposterous.
DEUTSCH: That isn't what I said, but you said I should not — we should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians, then, or —
COULTER: Yeah.
DEUTSCH: Really?
COULTER: Well, it's a lot easier. It's kind of a fast track.
DEUTSCH: Really?
COULTER: Yeah. You have to obey.
DEUTSCH: You can't possibly believe that.
COULTER: Yes.
DEUTSCH: You can't possibly — you're too educated, you can't — you're like my friend in —
COULTER: Do you know what Christianity is? We believe your religion, but you have to obey.
DEUTSCH: No, no, no, but I mean —
COULTER: We have the fast-track program.
DEUTSCH: Why don't I put you with the head of Iran? I mean, come on. You can't believe that.
COULTER: The head of Iran is not a Christian.
DEUTSCH: No, but in fact, "Let's wipe Israel" —
COULTER: I don't know if you've been paying attention.
DEUTSCH: "Let's wipe Israel off the earth." I mean, what, no Jews?
COULTER: No, we think — we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say.
DEUTSCH: Wow, you didn't really say that, did you?
COULTER: Yes. That is what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws. We know we're all sinners —
DEUTSCH: In my old days, I would have argued — when you say something absurd like that, there's no —
COULTER: What's absurd?
DEUTSCH: Jews are going to be perfected. I'm going to go off and try to perfect myself —
COULTER: Well, that's what the New Testament says.
DEUTSCH: Ann Coulter, author of "If Democrats Had Any Brains, They'd Be Republicans," and if Ann Coulter had any brains, she would not say Jews need to be perfected. I'm offended by that personally. And we'll have more "Big Idea" when we come back.
(BREAK)
DEUTSCH: Welcome back to "The Big Idea." During the break, Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment. So I'm going to give her a chance. So you don't think that was offensive?
COULTER: No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to, you know, live up to all the laws. What Christians believe — this is just a statement of what the New Testament is — is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament.
DEUTSCH: You said — your exact words were, "Jews need to be perfected." Those are the words out of your mouth.
COULTER: No, I'm saying that's what a Christian is.
DEUTSCH: But that's what you said — don't you see how hateful, how anti-Semitic —
COULTER: No!
DEUTSCH: How do you not see? You're an educated woman. How do you not see that?
COULTER: That isn't hateful at all.
DEUTSCH: But that's even a scarier thought. OK —
COULTER: No, no, no, no, no. I don't want you being offended by this. This is what Christians consider themselves, because our testament is the continuation of your testament. You know that. So we think Jews go to heaven. I mean (Jerry) Falwell himself said that, but you have to follow laws. Ours is "Christ died for our sins." We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all.
DEUTSCH: We will let the audience decide then, won't we? Ann Coulter. New book. More "Big Idea" straight ahead.
Well, I guess that is one step above the middle ages when Christians killed Jews. I think ann coulter should read the New Testament and see how we are to love others.

I know! Can you even imagine? :boldred:
She would start referring to Bill as the 'rapist' and Hil would have a meltdown. :D
I really don't think that to hated by so many was Jesus' goal. The reason He is hated is not because of anything He said, but because of the many acts of violence by His followers, who killed in His Name. I really do not think that Jesus appreciated that too much.

Jesus said the world would hate his followers because it (the world) hated him first. And that has come to pass. Jesus also foretold that the church would at some point become an aberration, and that also came to pass. It was not His followers that committed the acts of violence. It was those who had siezed the church by force. They may have called themselves 'the church', but it was not Christ's church at that point any longer. Christ had been driven out of that church just as God had been removed from the synagogues in centuries past.

Which brings a question to mind. What does it mean to be a follower of Jesus? "Many will say, did we not prophesy in Your name......and I will declare I knew them not." Matthew 7/22-23 (condensed)

This chick is CRAZY! If she thinks Christianity is a perfected form of Judeism, then does she think Mormons are a perfected form of Christianity? They have another Testament too. She doesn't even know what the word 'tolerance' means. Thank heavens she is so crazy conservative that no one will ever give her any political power!

Then Jesus is also insane. He told his disciples that they were to "be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." By 'perfect' she's not using the word in the way most take it. It means "completed", not the way we normally consider it.

It is in Matthew 5- it is about forgiveness and understanding. "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.......if you love only those who love you, what reward have you.......therefore you are to be perfect as your Father in Heaven is perfect." Matthew /44-48- condensed

Hello. Newsflash. Christians believe all people ideally should be Christians.
Coulter has said nothing offensive. I leave Jews alone because they are God's chosen people.
Ann's not talking about forcible conversion. She’s saying Christians believe the Judeo-Christian tradition is The Way and those who don’t follow the path all the way to the end aren’t quite where they need to be. (There are even Catholic prayers to this effect.) The word “perfected” is dicey insofar as it implies Christians’ superiority to Jews but she’s only referring to doctrinal superiority as far as I can see, which isn’t exactly a bombshell assertion coming from a Christian. Does the left really mean to suggest she thinks it’s Jews, uniquely, who need to be perfected but Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, etc. are all already co-equal with Christians spiritually?

This all boils to what constitutes a Christian. Hitler claimed to be a christian. They burned people alive in the middle ages in the name of Christ. Christians killed the Indians, bought and owned slaves. Now, all those practices have deemed wrong, but when they were happening, they were considered to be okay by churches.
Being a Christian is more than just saying you believe in Christ, but also that we should be always kind and merciful.
Unfortunately, since no christian has yet said to the world that killing Jews, Indians was wrong, Jews are under the impression that is what Jesus wanted.
I have told Jewish people that is not what He wanted. And this was good news to them.

The jewish holocoaust was the first time anyone spoke against mass killings. Hitler modeled his extermination program after the US and the indian massacres. Hitler thought he was being humane using gas to kill people instead of bullets.

OK, wow, I was away and the conversation went in a very different direction. First of all, XT, Jesus was so very not insane, because he preached tolerance, fogiveness, love, peace, turning the other cheek and that no one, NO ONE on the earth, be it prostitute or nonbeliever, was beyond his, God's and our forgiveness. The only people whom Jesus ever got crazy with were the money changers in the temple, those who perverted religion to push down believers and achieve their own ends. THAT IS IT!!! Read your Bible, and you will see.
Secondly, Christianity is a new religion, one that, around two thousand years ago, when it first originated, when held against the Roman faith, and even the very disrespected Judeism, was considered occult. To say that one religion, which bases itself on a previous religion, is 'perfected' is lunacy. I am sure that few here would tout the perfection of the Mormon faith, which is very similar to Christianity. It is based on a historical man (or men in the case of the Bible), who was 'inspired' by 'God' to write a new testament. (Yes, I am aware that we only have accurate historical data that Christ came only the one time, so I do acknowledge that, and help with your argument here) We can no more prove that Paul was inspired by God to write the majority of the New Testament than we can that Joseph Smith was to write The Book of Mormon. We cannot prove it. We either disbelieve entirely or belief by faith, something completely mental and spiritual and something completely unprovable. Yet, we just know, because we have an 'experience', because God 'speaks to us'. Cool. I am all for that. But how come only your god can speak to you? Many people of many religious backgrounds believe god speaks to them or through them. You aren't special or unique. You are just too blind to realize that others believe exactly what you do, just with a different name for god. The morals are similar, the tenants frighteningly close. If you don't believe that then ask yourselves why you are to be a warrior for Christ and get pissed at Muslims who do the same for Allah.
Next, don't even go there with the Jews, any of you. It is too sensitive, and too many people can be offended DRAMATICALLY, either by religious affiliation, race, or close contact with a Holocaust victim/ survivor. For the record, Christians as a group are very vocal about what was done to the Jews and how horrific it was. According to both Judeism AND Christianity, Jews are the chosen people; the rest of we riff raff need to take a number. Sure, a few of them killed Christ, but many of them believed in and revered him. Many don't, but
they are a people who have a much longer and more impressive history than do Christians. In fact, Jewish people as a whole follow more of Christ's teachings than do his self proclaimed followers. Over six million people lost their lives under the Nazi regime (another militant, fanatical group, this time, believing with a lunatic zealotry in Nationalism, which, in the historical context, has been referred to as a religion). Most were Jews, but other victims include Christians, Homosexuals, the physically and mentally handicapped, the mentally ill, those civilians who aided Jews in hiding/ escape, the subversives, and generally anyone whom the Nazis didn't like, thought were too dark in coloring or against whom they could form a weak argument. Jews in this country are, as a race and a faith, primarily pacifists, as they have seen what intolerance and solidarity have done.
Jesus was a Jew, not a Christian. He didn't come to make up a new religion; his followers did that. He came to forgive THE JEWS! READ YOUR BIBLES!!! It is a history of what happened, albeit a history that is full of holes because some catholics (oh, did I mention they came before what you all believe too?) decided WHAT would be put in the Bible. Another group of men, apparently also 'inspired by God', got to decide what writings, out of all of the writings of all of the disciples and other followers, were going to be considered cannon. The whole thing is a hot mess and none of it can be believed, if looked at rationally. So, please do, look at it rationally, understand, be educated for godssake (pun intended), then believe what BOTH your mind and heart tell you.
As for the Native Americans, man, did they ever get stuck in a bad situation. Remember, those of you who complain about immigrants, you yourself are an illegal immigrant in the eyes of your god, and the law, although these poor folks don't even have a legal system going for them. Poor Native Americans. We destroyed their tribes, their culture their land, came in and paved our way into environmental crisis. Too many people who thought they were right, that their way was the only way, their god the only god.
No one with a heart after the Christian God should ever DARE to say they know best, that they are right. In the eyes of God we are all wrong; sinners, who desperatly need forgiveness. Therefore, how dare some of you ever speak against another, you prideful, puffed up louts, simpletons and dullards all! None of us are beyond reproach, and all need forgiveness. Put your pride away and realize your frailty, your faulty nature. I get it. I suck, even when I try my hardest to do my best for and by my fellow humans. I fail, all of the time, but at least I am open enough to realize it; to apologize ans ask for forgiveness.
So here I go. I am sorry if I offended any of you. However, I am tired of narrow-minded people who consistently offend my fellow humans and myself. I speak out, yet, ultimatly, I have to respect that you all may believe whatever you will, and I do.
I would just hope that you would look to the man who inspires your faithful vigilance and take a lesson.

Ok. I agree with a lot of what you said but the big difference here "ask yourselves why you are to be a warrior for Christ and get pissed at Muslims who do the same for Allah"-- is that Jesus Christ NEVER asks us to kill for Him. allah commands muslimes to convert/kill infidels (Christians/Jews).
I respect that you have a grasp on most of this but the pc tolerance of islam will lead to the downfall of the USA as we know it.:(
As far as "believe what BOTH your mind and heart tell you", I disagree. Our minds and hearts are part of our souls. (Mind, will, emotion.) Our flesh (carnal man) HATES the Bible and everything in it. Our flesh will fight us to the death to get its' way. The Bible is spiritual food. I believe what my spirit tells me before anything else because it is the Holy Spirit.
Another reason not to go there with the Jews is they are God's chosen people. I don't get it. Most of the ones I know don't act very Godly. Some Christians get Jews saved but I'm leaving them alone. I have helped some convert in the past but I didn't have peace about it.

While Ann Coulter faces charges of anti-Semitism for stating in an interview Christians are "perfected Jews" and wishing everyone would convert to her faith, at least one well-known Jewish political pundit wonders what the fuss is over traditional doctrine.
David Horowitz, editor of Front Page Magazine, says in his blog today he's received "a surprising number of e-mails from friends basically asking 'What are you going to do about Coulter?'"
"My response is this," Horowitz writes, "What else would a Christian hope for? That's the message of the New Testament: Jesus came to fulfill, complete, perfect the Law. If you're a Christian, that's what you believe

Tolerance is really lacking in todays society. We are not open to any ideas other than the ones our 'mothers and fathers' taught us. If I had been born into a catholic home......I would be sitting here now as a catholic. Most people live in a box, they choose not to open there minds to any notion that God is a God to all and people worship differently depending on where they are from.
I am a Christian and my faith says the only to heaven is through Jesus Christ...so I believe that, yetttttttt I will never say that a person of another faith will be in hell. That is judging and it isnt my job to do that. I realize that how I feel about this may not be in touch with how others feel, but i follow my heart on this.....and the bible does tell me not to judge others.

Jesus says the only way to Heaven is through Him. ("I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.) :angel2:

First, FK, you are correct in that there is forgiveness for ANYONE through Christ. To say any less is to diminish His sovereignty and power. But, we are not to be 'tolerant' of everyone. Many times in scripture there are admonitions to put people who refuse to repent out of our midst. And by 'our' it refers to the church. But the church has never been faithful nor wise in doing so. That does not refer to those outside the church. Jesus told his followers to spread the Gospel (Good News) and if people refused to hear it the disciples were to shake the dust of that town off their feet and that it would be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. So even He said there were consequences to refusal to receive the Message. But the consequences are His, and His alone, to dole out.
Hitler was not a Christian. He proclaimed to be the leader of the "Holy Roman Empire", a term going back to the days of the Kaisers. And yes, Hitler did kill just about as many Christians as Jews.
As far as anything being 'hateful' and 'intollerant', I reject any such assertions. In a debate it's easy to simply cast aspersions on your adversary by trying to tag them with a label rather than debate the merits of the issue at hand. In any debate on politics or religion (or footballl if you live in Texas) there are bound to be things said that one side or the other could perceive as an insult. When these issues get debated people tend to take offense rather than stick to the issues. There's enough anger and hate to go around. We're all human and we're quite good at spreading it. So both sides should filter what's said though that lens. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Though if you stay out of the kitchen you'll probably not get any waffles......

As far as tolerance, the Bible said judge not lest you be judged. It also tells us to forgive. Jesus didn't do much admonishing, actually. That was everyone else in the Bible.
I do not feel I have been hateful. I simply stated that people are hypocrites. I am not a Christian, so I am not a hypocrite. I am a lot of things, but I am not that :p. I have a big problem with people who profess to believe something, do the opposite and yell about what everyone else is doing wrong. And I do see all sides of something. Unfortunatly, I think I am the only one who is trying to look at this issue in an unbiased way. I respect people's personal beliefs, but my judgement isn't clouded by religion.

True. It was kind of a 'shotgun' response, not directed at any one post or poster. Just some generic thoughts in the thread.
Yes, there are a lot of hypocrits in the church. There's a valid reson for that. It's because the church is full of people. People with all their imperfections. If we in the church could just get rid of all those pesky people we'd be free of hypocrisy.
I just enjoy a good argument though. But at times I tend to get a bit caught up in it.

This is so true, the church being made up of people, and therefore full of fools and Hypocrites. I get that. However, I choose not to deal with these people anymore. I do not believe in religion. It victimizes its own followers.

I do not believe in religion.
FK, are you an atheist or agnostic ?
Feisty Kitty
10-15-2007, 01:26 PM
Neither, unless I am mixing up their meanings again. I do believe that there could be a god, although I am not sure. I cannot stand religion, so it doesn't really matter what god. I grew up Christian and have seen that religion do more damage to myself and my family than you can possibly imagine. However, my absolute refusal of religion does not have anything to do with my questioning the existance of a god. Religion is made up of and by people. It was created as a way for people to make sense of what they could not explain and to keep people in line. It is very separate from true spirituality. The two are not mutually exclusive, but one does not require the other. I know many religious people with no concept of spirituality, and many very spiritual people with no religious affiliation.
On a side note, every single person that I know with an IQ of 150 or higher does not believe in religion. However, many still believe in a god and the existence of a spirituality that cannot be explained. This might just be a coincidence, but it should make one think. I am surrounded by intellectuals, and none of them follow a religion, so............................
Just food for thought. Thank you for asking, Kelly.
Listen to Malcolm Smith. He was an early comer to the 'Charismatic' movement many years ago. Central theme of his teachings are that God is love. In other words, love is not something He does, it's what He is.
And as I've said elsewhere, religions don't worship God, people do. I don't agree with Islam. But there are a lot of Christian churches whose doctrines I don't agree with either. But judge Christianity on the basis of what it is supposed to be, not on the way people behave. We're all just cracked pots of clay. We're all flawed at some level.
TaylorHicksRocks
10-15-2007, 02:41 PM
You have a very good point there Feisty about those with a high IQ not following any religion as is the case of my youngest brother and my oldest brother (neither of whom are gay both are married) my youngest brother believes that the heavens and the Earth and everything else was created by "the big bang" my older brother is just agnostic and both have IQ's well over 150! My Uncles both of whom have the same IQ's also don't have any faith in God....even though they were raised in a Christian family....
Those with higher IQ's tend to believe that they don't 'need' anything else, that they're self sufficient. While I don't agree, it's understandable. Though my own IQ ranks up there, I don't feel the same way. Who's right? Hard to say as both stances are based upon faith. I'm comfortable with what I believe and am willing to accept the consequences if I'm wrong.

ADL Condemns Ann Coulter's Comment That Jews Need 'To Be Perfected'
New York, NY, October 12, 2007 ... The Anti-Defamation League strongly condemns Ann Coulter for her anti-Semitic comment that Christians "want Jews to be perfected" in an interview with Donny Deutsch on CNBC's "The Big Idea." During her October 8 appearance, Coulter suggested that Jews should convert, adding that, "we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. … That's what Christianity is."
Ann Coulter may be a political pundit but she clearly knows very little about religious theology and interfaith issues. Coulter's remarks are outrageous, offensive and a throwback to the centuries-old teaching of contempt for Jews and Judaism. The notion that Jews are religiously inferior or imperfect because they do not accept Christian beliefs was the basis for 2,000 years of church-based anti-Semitism. While she is entitled to her beliefs, using mainstream media to espouse the idea that Judaism needs to be replaced with Christianity and that each individual Jew is somehow deficient and needs to be "perfected," is rank Christian supersessionism and has been rejected by the Catholic Church and the vast majority of mainstream Christian denominations.
Clearly, Ann Coulter needs a wake-up call about the power of words to injure others and fuel hatred. She needs an education, too, about the roots of anti-Semitism and the shared values of Judaism and Christianity. Christians and Jews have worked tirelessly for more than 40 years to overcome the past and to promote a more tolerant and pluralistic vision for the future and especially for America.
Donny Deutsch is to be commended for his immediate and forceful denunciation of Coulter's statements, for calling her remarks personally offensive, and for rightly characterizing her suggestion that Jews are inferior to Christians as anti-Semitism.

This is a free country and folks are free to say what they want. If it hurts your feelings, then change the 1st ammendment.
Recall years ago the "art" (and I use the term loosely) exhibit that had a crucifix in a jar of urine. Actually, Hitler was obsessed with Christian icons. He really did look for the Arch of the Covenant and the Holy Grail. He believed in the power of these icons to lead an army to victory and provide eternal youth/ life. The irony is that the power he believed in came from a Jew, the very people he was trying to destroy.
As far as positive christianity, I am not sure, but I am going to do some research when I get the chance.

Yeah, it is really weird. I thought that those Indiana Jones movies were fiction, but then I watched a show about Hitler on the History Channel. It was called "Hitler and the Occult" I think. It was all about how Hitler was obsessed with religious icons, primarily Christian ones, which does make sense as he was from Europe. The Bible does say that an army who carries the arch before it is invincible. The story of the grail evolved out of religious folklore, but it was considered factual in his day. Watch the History Channel when there are shows on about the Nazis, They are really interesting. I love that channel!

I wanted to be a History teacher but leave it to my mom who told me when I was about 12 not to be stupid only coaches were History Teachers because History is so easy and coaches are dumb......sheesh why did I listen to her......I never gave up on my love for History!!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, she is RIGHT!!! Most Social Science teachers are coaches, but many of them are very smart. Some are really dumb though. TOO FUNNY!!!
It is never too late to get your teaching credential..................................
Hitler was very involved with the occult. There have been stories on that for years, many of which have been substantiated. He was not a Christian. He may have used pieces of Christianity (the Maltese Cross) but he used symbols and bits from just about everywhere. The Swastika was a Hindu symbol IIRC.

You know as I was typing that I was thinking to myself it's never too late.....I would be an asset too because my mind is like a sponge when it comes to History......I even quiz my son all the time so that he is prepared if and when my little tidbits of knowledge may help him....It used to irritate him but now he is older he knows who Nathan Hale is and most people have no idea.....He knows about George Washington Carver.....and of course Patrick Henry and John Paul Jones.......I took it upon myself to read all the Biographies I could in 2nd grade and had to prove to the librarian that I could read those books.....having moved from Minnesota to Texas I was far ahead of my classmates....That's all I did all year was read the biographies while the rest of my class read the easy books..;)
Fiesty Kitty, a good place to some research is wikipedia. It has information on Hitler, including his religious beliefs. It shows that he believed in something called 'positve christianity', a doctrine in which Jesus is against the Jewish people. It is probably still in use today, as the doctrine of groups such as the ones who believe in the Aryian nation.
Of course, this doctrine is completely wrong, and not correct in any of Jesus' teachings. Jesus taught love and forgiveness, not hatred or murder.

Hitler killed almost as many Christians as Jews. Even had he said he was a Christian, so what? I could claim to be the Pope, but that doesn't make it so.

This is true but plenty of people claim to be Christians but they don't walk the walk and they don't talk the talk in the end it is up to God and if these people have asked for forgiveness for their sins......I am in no way supporting Hitler or what he did but believing in ones heart to be a Christian can be deceiving to others....

(I think the ratio of jews killed versus christians killed would show that there were many more jews killed.)
That is my point. Being a christian is more than just saying that you are one. It also means believing the things that He said... to have love for all your fellow men.
Hitler may have claimed to be a christian, but I think Christ would have though otherwise.

There were over six million people killed under Hitler's Nazi regime. The exact percentages are not available. However, the majority were Jewish.

From what I've read, the numbers are fairly close. But we're talking in the millions regardless. Needless to say, Adolph was responsible for a LOT of deaths.
