What happened to Queen live?

Fox was shilling that Queen was going to sing live on the Wednesday results show. For whatever reason they backed out. Several websites are reporting various reasons for the snub.
"Idols Butcher songs"
"Brian May had back trouble"
Whatever.

I actually thought tonite's results show was one of the better ones and even though it was an hour it didn't drag. (No pun intended)

I thought we'd see Queen too, but my hubby kept saying there is no way they will show up for AI. I guess he was right.

All I know is that, for a week solid, FOX aired a commercial during EVERY COMMERCIAL BREAK OF EVERY SHOW promising the audience (And I quote) "An unprecedented, two-night Rock-Off, with a LIVE PERFORMANCE from Queen on Wednesday's Results show! Don't miss all the action as the contestants try to match Queen - THE BEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME!!!" (See, FOX played the dumb commercial so many times, I remember the voice-over!). I hope the execs all feel like IDIOTS for pounding that into viewers' heads and then not being able to deliver.

Well if you listen very, very hard you will notice that all group performances sound exactly the same. I believe that saying last years group sang better than this years group is like being crowned the "Tallest Midget".

I myself preferred the group singing last year. The camera was on each person that had a part of the song. It was hard to concentrate on 2 things on the same screen, Wed night.

It is a fact that Brian May is having serious back problems and has been in bed almost up until his performances (ordered by his doctor), but I think the real reason was their last show was last night, already scheduled way in advance, but they could have shown a recording of them performing last week when the idols were hanging out with them.
