sorry about that, they shifted it. What we do, we have it in the Guy Discussions - sorta front page, as it were..... but after its all over, it goes over to Concerts and Appearances. The thread is up to almost 4,500 views!!!

If we don't run it like that, some who are getting phone ins put it in the concerts section, and others put it in the Guy Discussions.

They were a bit quick! I will try and get the set list together, hoping someone else will - that url I've put, its about half way thru it, and there are lots of 'chest' comments LOL. Guy has often commented, tongue in cheek, that it isn't fair on the females to skimp down in the clothing area (heh heh heh), but he seemed to forget it was quite so low!

About 2/3 of the way thru apparently became aware that there was an extra button that should have been done up (he thought), and did that. Too late tho, many happy snaps of the pecs are now out there on the net...

but oh, the set list. I MUST put it up

Thanks to Coco.... report from her 2nd night Oct 20

Report 10 October VANGUARD

This evening was one of those events where if you are seeking entertainment you hit the jackpot. We were presented with a feast of variety beginning with Tom Jordan. Tom is definitely talented with his particular gift of composition. This factor alone will take him far as most singers can sing but lack talent in the area of composition.

Next on the program was Guy's younger brother Chris. It's incredible when listening to Chris how similar his vocabulary is to Guy. And I think this can be accredited to their parents and the closed family ties. Chris has the makings of an excellent voice and I think we will be hearing a lot more of him in the future as his career blossoms.

During Guy's set, he and Chris sang a duet where Guy encourage Chris to take the lead. The harmonisation was superb. And when the two of them sang using modulation the pitch was perfect. For artist to do this is particularly hard but Guy and Chis were like twins and anticipated what each was about. This in itself was superb.

Guy did a medley of songs such as Crazy, etc. The rendition of this pulled at the heart strings.

The audience outnumbered forum members by about 90%. It means the forum members were 10%. This is what we like to see as it shows how well like Guy is.

Guy made everyone feel so relax. It was like a huge jam session. His wit was spontaneous and the audience lapped up every word.

This evening Guy treated us to just how versatile his voice is. For example, there was a segment where he sang in a high register imitating Prince. Then, he would drop down to a low register, then high, then low, then high, then low. To do this, in pitch, requires radical altering of the vocal chords. This feat can only be accomplished by a performer of great skill and with perfect pitch control.

Guy made light joke about he finds it hard to do two things at once. He proved to all in attendance beyond doubt that he can multi function by being able to sing and operate the drum machine, plus give the appropriate hand signals to his musicians indicating what his intention was.

Another impressive thing was the manner in which Guy could give a rendition of a song in various forms and this was done in such a way that the transition between the various forms seemed like a natural progression.

It was a brilliant move incorporating the violin into the performance. Sally is superb with this instrument and when playing in the third, fourth and eight position showed technical expertise with the instrument. To play the violin in the modern music idiom is incredibly hard and there are not many proponents worlwide who can do this successfully. Her use of the bow was perfect.

Carl Dimataga is a gem. This guy is a wizard at what he does and no more needs to be said.

The other guitarist provided an excellent backing.

Guy drop a bit of gossip which you guys might be really keen to know and that, next year Guy will be putting concert that could include Memphis greats - WOW looking forward to this. Names were not mention.

Guy thank everyone and particularly those who had to stand during the show. He was saying that they must be feeling really tired as they've been standing for quite awhile.

Guy sang one of Julian Lennons song and mentioned how appropriate it was as yesterday was John Lennons birthday. And because yesterday was also Irene's birthday Guy with everyone singing happy birthday to Irene and also remembered John Lennon. Guy mentioned that Irene is a long and valued supporter.

The evening ended with audience bringing down the house with applause. happy.gif

so many on youtube, I honestly can't wait for Melbourne. AND there's a meet and greet at Manchester in Melbourne next week, and this week at the Brass Monkey (which is so hard to try and book, for goodness sake!)

If you are a youtube user, try for
Guy Sebastian Saltwater

and the poster of those has many up there. The sound is not bad in the circumstances.

LOVE his Saltwater. A julianlennon fan came over and gave high praise. And the fabulous version of Crazy/I Will Survive! I LOVE GUY SEBASTIAN CONCERTS!!!!!

NEVER the same, always a step up, always something different.

Oh, but hang on that's not why I'm bouncing this up...

GREAT NEWS COMING..... :w00t: :w00t: very very very soon.

I am SO clearing the credit card!

"What amazed me is how much he sounded like the original recordings. I don't mean the singers. I mean the sound. He has captured the amazing sound of those songs and that era. If this album sounds like this I will buy it without hesitation"

couldn't agree more. LIVE is where Guy should be. Like Jonny Lang

Found on the forum, and I totally TOTALLY agree. Having just sat through three, all different and all just awesome. If I say that EACH time, I was just exploding with amazement how much better his voice gets. Youtube is great but LIVE, there is nothing like it. The timbre, the tone, the depth, the STRENGTH, just keeps growing ... and he's so funny

Our greatest soul singer, or idol claim?

OK, Dwarfers, work with me on this one.

Guy Sebastian.

First try to get over the Christian thing. Good. Now forget about the virginity bit. Great. Now, set aside the ‘Australian Idol’ stuff. Fantastic. Now we are ready to acknowledge that Guy Sebastian is one of the finest exponents of soul and R&B in the country, and he is only going to get better.

At The Gov on Tuesday night, a relaxed Guy Sebastian showed why he is such a class act. Having risen to fame in what many see as a ‘singing competition’ it’s just too glib to write him off as a transient pretty boy who’ll be here today and gone tomorrow, and too easy to overlook what a complete musician, songwriter, singer and performer he is. He is absolutely comfortable across the whole soul and R&B range and he can either caress or belt out a lyric with equal aplomb. His band of acoustic guitar, bass and violin suited him perfectly and allowed that voice, kissed by angels, to do what it does best.

He hasn’t produced the ‘killer album’ yet that he is capable of but watch this space. If his recent sojourn to Memphis pans out, this next album may be it. You certainly don’t get Booker T & the MGs to be your backing band and Steve Cropper to produce you if all you have is a pretty face.

At the moment, Guy Sebastian is ‘only’ great. In the future he could be our Sam Cooke or Aaron Neville. Get out and see him before you need a mortgage for a ticket.
