View Full Version : Memo to Elliott and Ace...

When the two of you get voted off the American Idol island (some time within the next three weeks) please do not sit there and blubber like little girls---the way you did last night after you found out your were in the bottom three.
Exit with class and dignity; hold your chin up and smile the way Mandisa, Lisa Tucker and even that little dweeb Kevin Covais did.
Try to act like men---even if that might be somewhat of stretch for someone like you Ace.

Elliott and Ace were not crying because of being voted into the bottom three. They were just shown clips of their families telling of how they miss them and are rooting for them. Then, not but a moment later, before they could dry their tears, they were given the results of who will be going home. So get your facts straight!

Riiiiiight. Ace "Pretty in Pink" Young who said all he missed about home was the moutains was overcome with emotion for his family; and Elliott who was sniveling on stage and said he didn't want to sing prompting an exasperated Seacrest to say "Just follow the band..." weren't crying because they thought they might be cut but because they were cataloging all those Kodak family moments. Uhhh Huhhhh.
You didn't see Chris, Taylor or Bucky blubbering and Bucky got sent packing. Yet, all three got syrupy messages from back home.

They weren't crying because they were in the bottom 3 -- they were crying at the films of their families supporting and loving them. I think that's an admirable thing.

what is wrong with you FalseIdol? i agree with everyone else on here - ace was just shown a video of his family, he was caught off guard and he got emotional about it - you could tell he is a real family oriented guy - NOT becuz he was in the bottom three! what is so bad about a man showing his true feelings about how much he cares about his family? you should take a long hard look at yourself before you start bashing someone just becuz they get emotional!!!

I have a problem with False Idol, whom is false. My take on it is this, also, The 2 just saw video's of their supportive familys and it is not wrong for a man to cry, try it, it may help you. It shows the true inside of a person and helps to understand them. I think, but I may be wrong cause I cannot play back, Elliot just asked? what song? as he was caught by surprise and he did very well, I might add. It is hard to be nice to a person who is not nice. Opinions are okey, but in a constructive way.

Am I the only one in America with TIVO?
Elliott "showed some tears" BEFORE he was put in the bottom 3.
My buddy Chris did not "show tears" but almost did.
Remember, The facts are the facts, and opinions are just like @#$%^'s, everybody has one!

...ace was just shown a video of his family, he was caught off guard and he got emotional about it - you could tell he is a real family oriented guy !!!
Yeah a REAL family orientated guy----so family orientated that when he was asked last night what he missed most about not being home he said----the mountains! Not that he missed Mom, Dad or any of his brothers.
Look, I have no problem with men being emotional, but for something real like the death of a loved one, or losing a $1,000 bet on your favorite sports team. Not because (as in Elliot's) Mom says what a swell kid you are on a videotape as if she were across the ocean and hadn't seen him in 20 years EVEN THOUGH SHE'S BEEN SITTING IN THE AUDIENCE FOR EVERY SINGLE SHOW.
Sorry, both of them are wusses. Men need to act like men, not little girls.

I feel real sorry for you buddy, somewhere along the line you missed out in a whole lot. That is why men beat women or wives or girlfriends. Or we have suicides, cry cry cry, it is good for you and you then know how good it makes you feel. You do not have to be a tough guy, its okey. This is just a Television Show, calm down. Who ever wins wins and that does not mean the winner Idol is a winner. The losers could be winners and many of them. Week to week.

Are you for real? Your idea of a masculine guy is someone who beats his wife or girlfirend and commits suicide????
Or are you just one of those "bossy Mama's" who likes it when men are weak namby pambies that they can bully or mother.
Men who act like women and cry over non-significant issues are just (Pardon me, Governor Schwarzenegger) "girly men!"
Com'on, Elliott starts blubbering because his Mom was on the big screen saving "Hi Elliott, I love you" even though she was just ten feet away from him sitting in the audience. Please.

Is that a rule that I don't know about? Where did you hear 'there's no crying on idol'? I've always heard it takes a 'GROWN MAN' to cry. There's nothing wrong with that. They have emotions (the idols) and they had no idea what their friends & families were going to be saying and their hearts were touched. I shed a few tears myself just watching. I have a soft heart.

YaYaMuddledSister, I'd appreciate if you took more time to correctly cut and paste. I never said it takes a "grown man to cry" and don't particulary subscribe to that theory---yet you included it in a quote above as if I had said it.
I have tremendous respect for men who have close relationships with their mama's as long as it's not in a Norman Bates type of way. But I have no respect for guys who start blubbering just become Mom, who is healthy and standing a mere twenty feet away starts waivng at them on national television.
Besides I am still not convinced that is why the two of them were sobbing.

If you look at Ace's video he really didn't have anything to cry about. His brothers were basically sitting there saying Ace was a punk and they use to beat on him!!!! They didn't sound sad or supportive, they sounded jealous and evil. If anything he should of been embarrassed. I mean even his mom said he learned to run fast to get away from getting beat on. How did his family think this was going to assist him or give him the strength to go on? His family was a big DISAPPOINTMENT. I think his tears were real, but they were probably a result of everyone around him crying and pure embarrassment. I can totally understand why he didn't say he missed his family.:boldred:

I think what Helen is trying to say is that she feels that some men who can't express emotion in a healthy manner end up doing horrible things like beating their wives or committing suicide. I see some viability to that hypothesis.
Overall though, men who do those horrible things are at a different level of unhealthy than men who won't let themselves cry.
Frankly, I'm shocked that more Idol contestants don't cry. I was really impressed with the likes of Bucky, and Kevin, and Lisa who can maintain composure and then perform in front of millions right after they're told they were rejected.
And of course you have the opposite end of the spectrum- Paris (I know she's young) but do we have to see the DISGUSTIPATING TEAR FEST every week from her? Someone take that girl's eyedrops away!

I hope they were crying after listening to Paul Rodgers and realizing what microscopic talents they are compared to the living legends and rock thunder god himself, they need to reevaluate their entire existence and reason for living, Ace could have a possible career as a male prostitute, but he should not sing anymore.

If you look at Ace's video he really didn't have anything to cry about. His brothers were basically sitting there saying Ace was a punk and they use to beat on him!!!! They didn't sound sad or supportive, they sounded jealous and evil. :
You obviously must not come from a large family. That's what siblings do---they spend their growing years tormenting the weaker members. Eventually the weak ones exact some revenge. And while I do not care for Ace, his family seemed far more real to me and believable then Kelly's grandpa and her (near) deaf mute little brother. (Okay, that was really mean---cause I like Kellie and as the saying goes, you can choose your friends but you can't choose your family.) Back to the point, real families fuss and fight, they don't spend all day doting over one another. The ones who spend all day professing their so called love for one another are USUALLY the ones end up with a family member on the cover of TIME Magazine because they gunned down 16 people at the local 7-11.
And of course you have the opposite end of the spectrum- Paris (I know she's young) but do we have to see the DISGUSTIPATING TEAR FEST every week from her? Someone take that girl's eyedrops away!
LOL. She is a regular faucet, isn't she? But I expect and don't mind that kind of emotion from girls even if she's a bit much.
For the record, I do not think men should "repress their emotions" nor I do think it is "unmanly" to cry. But if men ARE going to cry in public, it should be for something significant---not because Mom's is on the big screen going "Hi Honey, it's me. I think you're swell!" Especially when Mom is standing five feet away.

All this is pitiful, "whoop's"----I should have not mentioned that word. Related to coming from a big family, my father came from a family of 10, I came from a family of 8, all living and we all e-mail each other, love each other very much but as siblings do, we do not all agree. I have 1 brother among 7 sisters. Some living in Fla, West coast and 1 in Calif, Victorville, and 3 0f us in good ole Penna. I for one have 6 children. All grown. The bottem line here is this, I was very much rooted from a baby on to a Christian background and today being Good Friday and soon to be Easter, that is the one thing I am most thankful for going back to my grandparents and then some, I am sure. Knowing that I am not perfect and could never be, no matter how hard I try. So, the Higher being "did not" pity us, but loved us that he died for us, that is sacrifice!! These things are what helps us to try to understand other people and sometimes we are too critical, I am guilty of that and try to change that kind of attitued, hard, it sure is!!!! because the human side of us comes thru. Hard, especially when we watch a show called, American Idol. Have a wonderful Easter. I always try to think of the saying ----"walk a mile in an Indian's moccasin". Good saying to keep in mind when we are overly critical.
