Now its getting good! Rod is one of my favorites of all time...........
But the question is ....
who will sing " Do ya think i'm sexy?"
I think Taylor should sing "Infatuation" or "Motown Song"

I had heard the rumor that there was going to be a Rod Stewart week this year and I was hoping it would not be true.
I absolutely cannot stand Stewart. He is one of the most overrated rock stars of the last 30 years. He hasn't made a decent record since his days with the Jeff Beck group.
Boo. Hiss.

Hey, my wife loves the guy too, one of his many millions of fans. I fully understand I may be in the minority when it comes to disliking the guy.
As far a rock icons go, you'll get no argument from me whether groups like Queen, Pink Floyd, U2, and the Stones deserve their due. Or individuals performers like Steve Winwood, Eric Calpton, Stevie Wonder, Cliff Richard or Bruce Springsteen. They all deserve props for the impact they have had on pop music.
But when it comes to Rod Steward, he is strictly a pretender in my humble opinion, and can't hold a candle to any the groups or performers I just mentioned.
Of course I will still watch the show. I just won't care for the music that much.

From what I understand, they will not be singing classic Rod Stewart songs, but songs from his Great American Songbook album, which is awesome and for which I was glad to see Elliott would live to see another day. I think he will shine next week singing one of the songs fromt his album.

Isn't there several volumes of American Songbook Album? Is it any of them or one in particular?

Well it's really stupid to call it Rod Stewart week then because not a single one of the songs in any of the four songbook albums are his composition.
If what you say is true, they should have just called it "Pop Standards Week" and saved Stewart's appearance fee.

There are 60 songs, in I think 4 volumes, that they can chose from.
I don't know which songs are in the Collection.

and none of them sang Barry Manilow or Kenny Rogers songs.

Ok, so it sounds like they will just make the usual standard/jazz night, only using Rod as an entry point.
It should be great, and I already have some ideas of good choices for quite all contestants:
Chris - "Night and Day", making it in the same rocky style that Bono Vox did years ago;
Elliot - "Smile", it will be perfect for his perfect voice;
Kat- "Time after time" (no, it is not the Cindy Lauper song...) because she will be able to both sounds serene at the beginning and very strong at the final verses;
Taylor - "Crazy she calls me", he will be able to put all his blues heart and soul in it.
Paris- "We'll be together again", she is the only one with the vocal power to do this song.
Ace- "I'll be seeing you", it is a beautiful soft song, good for his sweet voice and he also can use his falseto at the end.
Kellie - she is the only one to whom I cannot think of a good song to perform, any suggestion?

You name the classic and it's included: "It had to be You" "Moonglow" "I've Got a Crush on You" "Thanks for the Memory" "My Funny Valentine" "As Time Goes By" "Our Love is Here to Stay" etc. etc. Name a pop standard form the 30's to the 60's and he probably covered it.
Personally, I would rather hear the contestants sing one of these standards than any of Stewart's stuff, but I think it is really dumb to to call it Rod Stewart week, if they aren't going to let the contestants do any of Rod's material.
When Barry Manilow and Kenny Rogers were the guests there was no question that the contestants weren't going to be doing an hour of their material (thank God). Here's hoping it will be the same when Stewart appears.

Exactly. When Barry Manilow appeared they made it clear that it was about his number 1 album, Greatest Songs of the Fifties. Same here. Rod Stewart, Great American Songbook.

Think Sinatra, Bennett, dean martin....It's 40's and 50's classic week . You see Stewart stopped sing rock and roll when he found out that little old ladies also spend money.
P.S. When was the last time you heard a Stewart song played on the radio that wasn't "Maggie May" or "Every picture tells a story don't it?"

Triumph is correct. I just watched the results show. Stewart is just window dressing next week, sounds like they won't actually be doing any of his songs.
