I think it all depends on the family. I want to have 2 children, at most 3. I want to make sure I can provide sufficient attention to each child, and I also want to ensure that I can take care of all my children financially.

I have one son who is a fab individual. Very humorous well mannered and clever. That's my boy ......I think he is like that as he had all my attention really , oh and he played and still plays alot of rugby which has given him such a great team and social out look.
I do think it important for your children to get involved in clubs etc out of the home no matter how many you have. I do not think you can put a limit on it, aslong as you are a good parent.

I have a boy and girl aged 12 and 9 and I personally think that 4 makes up a family nicely and for me the smaller the age gap between the kids the better ;)

Hehe, well I think that's most certainly something YOU should decide based on your own opinions on the subject. ;) It differs for everyone--in fact, some people don't "need kids" to complete their family. I personally would love to have at least three someday. I love kids. :)

I don't really want kids, but I will probably have one since SOS really wants them.

I would love to have at least 4 maybe two sons and two daughters, I want a big family and hope to have a very happy one also. Well the size of the family would always depend on what you want. The normal is always 2 a boy and a girl, But that would be your personal choice.

You can't always plan a boy and a girl it's just the luck of the draw unless a woman knows exactly when she is ovulating such as myself i promised my husband a boy and that's what he got! I wanted a boy too...;)

One or two is a good number... my daughter is like an only child. I have a step-son but he's older and doesn't live with us.

12 is common to my family specially my grandparents because at that time they don't have a thing such as family planning and they propagate like mushrooms.

It used to be common especially for farmers the children would work on the farm..

Yeah, that's actually common in the Phillipines. My wife is Filipina, and she has 10 brothers and sisters. I used to work with alot of Filipinos, and they all came from large families.

I do not think that the amount of children you have determines the family. Since having a family is more than one person. I think ideally two children and two adults are what I would consider to be the perfect size of family.

I happy to know that you did come and know some of the common culture in our country. Well as far as family is concern it is really in the tradition specially those from country side to have huge family.

My son is much like Stu's daughter he is pretty much an only child because his brother and sister are both adults and he has never lived in the same home as them...

My mother is one of 15 children!
I think there is no right answer for how many children one should have. I do think however, that you should be able to afford to raise them. 15 children these days would be a killer to feed lol.

I have 2 children, the perfect amount for me! 1 boy and 1 girl. My second child...my daughter, was a total surprise.

My children are my life. I Love Love Love themmm!!!

Some people say 'well you need at least 2'. umm, I really dont think thats true at all, but will say I have one sister and we are very close. It does feel good to have someone that will always be there for u.

I think it is all your business, yours and your husband. We have only one son. Relatives says, that is no good, one child is not a child. My sister has got four sons, and relatives say that is too many... Nothing is good. Have as many child or children as you want. Bringing up a child is not easy, so it is all up to you and your husband. Don't listen to anyone!

Very good post especially considering the fact that you never know what life is going to bring you...For Example my husband passed away in 05' and our son was only 8 I am happy with the one child...

True re your business how many children. I figure, its our path just what we are landed with.

THR ((hugs)) you were so lucky to have a wonderful son to remember your husband by.

I had very traumatic first marriage but without that marriage, I wouldn't have two wonderful children I have today. Feel very blessed.

AND... without those first children, I wouldn't have met my 2nd husband, a wonderful man and with whom I had a third child - so I feel extremely blessed all round.

My 2nd husband is a teacher - and he taught my daughter, which is how I met him, almost 3 years after my first husband and I broke up. The fact that my hubby taught my daughter for 2 years running, because he 'rose in ranks' as it were, just shows how amazing life can be. Love him dearly.

It's how life goes, I believe
