I moved out a little late. I was 21. A girlfriend of mine asked me to move in with her after she had a falling out with her roomate. The roomate split and I moved in. She lived next to some bad dudes! I had no idea but the guy next door just got out of jail. He was nasty. I used to work at a store right next to my house and this bad dude came over and insisted I go to a party with him. I was terrified of him and said "no!" My boss was scared of the guy so he told me to go home! I said no I can't and he said go! The guy followed me back to my door and luckily my roomate was home and he left. However, shortly after that he and his friend robbed us and even took our food! I sent the word out that I knew it was him who robbed us so he came back to our house looking for me but thank god I was out. He went through the house literally looking for me. The next day we started looking for a new place to rent and I quit my job and we moved to a quiter neighborhood. Then years later, I told this story to a friend of mine, in more detail, while we were at a rodeo. I look up and there is that same guy staring at me!!! Uncanny! I must have picked up on his energy.

I fleed the nest when I was 18 straight from scholl to join The Royal Airforce.
I was also a very keen sports woman and played hockey for my country.
So as a young woman these times were very exciting and full of adventure. My son now has taken a very similar path at the age of 18 he has joined The British Army and is an excellent sportsman. His adventures are just begining, I am so jealous and very proud of him.
I visit my brothers and mammy 2 x a year. Which is a very special time for me.

I left home when I was 18. I joined the Air Force, three months after I graduated high school.

I moved out of my parents house when I was 18 years old. I too moved to Vegas in my 20's. When I was 25 to be exact. I would never have dreamed about moving back to where the rest of my family lives as I enjoy here way too much.
I see no problem with with parents in your 20's simply because you still have a lot to learn and it is often easier to grow that way. Religion is another reason to stay close to family.

When I was 24 I moved 5 hours away from my parents. I found it very hard and everytime I'd visit I'd cry and cry when it was time to leave. Now they are both long passed away.

I left my joint family at the age of 22. I went to different states for my business purpose and came back home after a period of 8 years. Now I am married and having one child also.

I was 18... left and never moved back home again! My first place wasn't too bad... it was a 1 bedroom apartment in a nice area.

My first place was not the nicest but I lived next door to a police officer that patrolled the property so i felt safe and it was on the bus line so it was easier to get back and forth to work...I only went back when my dad needed me and this was a couple of years later....I helped him with my younger brothers....

My first house as I mentioned was a bit of a nightmare. I didn't know the area was rough as it was only a 20 min walk from where my parents lived. However, that 20 min made a huge difference. We lived beside jail birds who robbed us and we had peeping tom's and one other lunatic came barging through my house with a bat and threatened to destroy my house! Some guy that was working next door spotted him come in and he talked the guy out of my house. I had my front door open because it was summer so that's how the loony got in. However, he did come back to apologize with a plant??? Very strange and scary neighborhood. My roomates boyfriend stayed over often when we lived in the scary neighborhood and he was scared sometimes LOL. We moved 20 min away again and we were back in a quiet, safe neighborhood where there was no drama.

That night when that jail bird came looking for me my roomates boyfriend was so scared LOL! I came home from a date and I walk into a dark house. My RM's boyfriend said don't turn on the lights! I said why are we being spied on and he said "John came looking for you tonight!" He said he walked through the house with his hands behind his back and he was saying where is blondie? I need to talk to blondie. This is the guy that robbed us and I sent word out that I knew it was him. Well I immediately started to cry because that freaked me out a tad. My friend's boyfriend said if he comes back he wouldn't be able to fight him because he was too small LOL. I was so scared that I told my friend and her boyfriend that I was sleeping with them that night. I slept in my clothes so that if the guy came back I could make a run for it but the guy didn't come back that night. We looked for another place to live the next day as I mentioned earlier. That guy scared me to death.

My roomates boyfriend reminded me of Kramer. He looked and acted just like Kramer. This all happened way before the days of Seinfeld so when I saw Kramer I was amazed with how much he was like my old friend.

I moved out when i went away to college, then back when I graduated, then out again shortly after. It was very hard living with mom again after having freedom. She was all up in my business all the time. When my condo was being worked on I had to move back in for a month. It was the worst month of both mine and my mom's lives.
My apartment in college was super scary. It was in Isla Vista, Santa Barbara. I went to UCSB. Anyway, Isla Vista is the most densly populated square mile west of the Mississippi, and it is crammed with drunken frat boys, drunken sorority girls, gang bangers, date rapists and all manner of hoodlums. It was so bad that when my then boyfriend came up to visit he totally freaked out. He was so sure I wouldn't live through the semester, but I did.

Sounds really freaky!!! I am happy that you made it though......
I left home at 18, my parents were moving house and I got in from work and my pops said "We are moving you are not!" So I went out and found a shared house with three other people and the adventure all stemmed from there.
(no hard feelings of course to my Pops or Ma)

It was wild. One night, my roomie came into the bathroom while I was in the shower. She was screaming about fire. Turns out, a bunch of our drunk neighbors set the palm tree in our quad on fire, and it rained embers down on our apt. I ran into the street soaking wet, wearing the smallest robe ever (it was the only thing I could grab) and thought, there goes everything I own. We all ended up getting smart and turing all of our hoses on the blaze. We put it out before it did any real damage. I am sure that my neighbors saw all of my business while I hosed. Whatever, I have good business. Anyway, the best bit is that the fire dept didn't arrive until 20 minutes later. Fun, huh?

I was 18 years old when I left home and moved in with my then boyfriend. My parents had divorced years earlier and I did'nt really have a close relationship with my mother. I have a younger brother who was a mummy's boy so I found it very hard at home. I hated living at home with them and couldn't wait to get out on my own. I learnt so much and was able to get my life back on track. My mother and brother had made my self confidence lower a great deal. I still lack a little in this area but am getting better each day.
