Hi everyone hope you are all enjoying your Easter and that most of you got a chance to recouperate from the year thus far.
I am writing in regards to a thankyou letter that i wrote in response to the letters i have received over the last few years. These letters came in many forms ie emails, physical letters, cards, gifts etc etc. All the return addresses and email addresses were kept in a database and all letters read... trust me this took a LONG time!
I thought i would write a letter and email it to all who provided email addresses. I had asked Jules to set up an official email as a favour for me. She inadvertently wrote her name in instead of "Guy Sebastian Fan Club" and so people received emails from sender "Julie Egan" and thought she was running the fan club!
Just letting you all know that Jules does NOT run the fan club and that letters and emails written are received and read by ME. It was just a one off favour. I know a lot of people were upset by this from the many emails i recevied, if you werent offended then please ignore this message, but i am sorry if this caused some concern. The mistake has been corrected.
Anyway i am having an awesome Easter break. Ive got right into stradegy board games, i know it sounds nerdy but i have been having hours of fun! Theres also this really cool set of new rules for uno, its called "killer uno", alright i am a geek! Amongst that, surfing and riding my motorbike, it has been an awesome few days. I have already started to write a bunch of songs and i cant wait to start a new record! Anyway time for bed..
Love to you all,
Guy
and no, I didn't get the email either. I think Hairbear is right - because of the multiple addresses involved, it was probably filtered right out as spam.
this is the email guy is refering to everyone
To my precious friends!!!!!
For most of you this letter of reply is going to be a huge surprise cause it may be over 3 years after I got yours!! Oh well, better late than never they say!
Well, I want to start by saying the HUGEST thanks. This letter is going to be so hard to write because I know I can't encapsulate what I'm trying to say on paper. The many letters, cards, gifts, pictures, chocolates (mmmm), jewelry etc etc etc that I have received has absolutely blown me away. Not only from Australia, but also parts of Asia, New Zealand, America etc.
I wish I could write to every one of you personally but I'm sure you understand why I can't. Please know that all the mail has been read (with love) and I have been moved to say the least. There have been moments when I've been down, lonely in my travels, in need of some kind words and I have picked up a letter and it has totally lifted my spirits. Honestly, it has happened so many times.
For those who say they have been touched by my music, you can't begin to imagine how much that means to me personally. You make every second of songwriting, recording, touring, promoting etc etc so worth it.
It's been over 3 years since winning idol and I hope you are all enjoying the new idols. It feels like 10 years have gone for me!! I have travelled to many countries, met some amazing people and realised dreams I never thought I could even imagine. This is all due to YOU, you are the angels that brought me here and for that I am eternally grateful.
I love and appreciate you and the support you have given me thus far...
Peace,

Guy Sebastian
Ps. Please continue to write on myspace and my forum, it easier for me to read J
...
THANK YOU SO MUCH GUY, and thanks Megan for that. I have a big grin here. (I LOVE BOARD GAMES! - but no-one to play them with these days!)

From Popdirt.com
??
'American Idol' season one champ Guy Sebastian was in studio with Austereo's Kyle and Jackie O. on Thursday (April 12), where he explains that his new single 'Cover on My Heart' is about a pie lady, discussed getting married, and confirmed he's still a virgin. Listen to the interview here.
what the?!!!!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4WM66277
would be the interview, I guess. Welll I had no idea, really (not the virgin thing, of course we know heh heh. Bless him. I think he's being backed into a corner and suspect that he and Jules will be getting engaged rather soon)

And to THINK - I've never seen a photo do justice, really. The best part is he doesn't realise that he's a lil hottie. He just sees the face when he shaves (try that, imitating, and you 'll see what I mean). So he thinks its the funniest thing.
As Kylie commented re the new single, though. Toes curl - and they surely do.

I LOVE smiles. There is a really good musican / writer here, Bernard Fanning. And he is really good - but we never see him smile. Very sort of 'dead'. However, a photo yesterday and a great grin! Makes you wonder why they don't do it more often.
Well, this is something that's cropped up - it isn't our 'news', and I think that has to be sat on for some time so we'll just ignore that (LOL)
But here in June (I think, without checking, somewhere in the middle of that month) and acoustic Guy is fabulous. One of my very favourite clips on Youtube is Let's Stay Together, and it was mainly Gary and surely Carl was there and it sounds like Darryl who is such a great musician - he toured with Mig, and others, and has his own band who always play at The Melt in Sydney.
Guy Sebastian - Basement Acoustic Sessions
Guy Sebastian is coming to the Basement for the first time for what will be an experience not to be missed.
In an intimate night of performance the audience will get to see Guy up-close and personal as he has never been seen before. Widely recognised as one of the great voices in Australia, Guy became the first Australian Idol winner in 2003, capturing the hearts of Australians with his uniqueness and incredible vocal talent. His first solo single 'Angels Brought Me Here' debuted at number one and was the highest selling Australian single in ARIA chart history. Guy has now released 3 multi-platinum selling albums and toured the country to sold-out venues many times.
Stripped back and cut down, Guy and his band will be performing all of his hits in acoustic mode, including tracks from his most recent multi-platinum selling third album 'Closer to The Sun', as well as songs from some of his favourite artists. For Guy's fans and all lovers of great music these will be extraordinary shows!!
With one of the APO photos - the one with the hat on, channelling Sinatra.
So why the excitement? Well, this is the 'musicans' gig. You know, the snobby ppl... so Guy's management managed to snaffle it when Leo Sayer cancelled. Fantastic.
Some are upset it wasn't advised by management, but hey - the APO is on next week! Of course no-one is going to advertise this, which is way over a month away, until the APO one is out of the way.
Honestly - they get so paranoid *looks over shoulder*

ROFL!! I've seen a couple of nice Sanjay pics, and I haven't even been trying! I really haven't had much time at all atm but will try later within the next few weeks or so. We're in the middle of a busy time right now.
I do think that ppl have to remember that Idol is a TV based program - its not radio. So that the personality AND singing both have to shine. Out of OZ1 I can think of - well, nearly ALL the final contestants had great voices and looks. But not all of them had personality, and not all of their voices, their ability, could grow past what they presented in the first week. It's the growth, the talent and pizzaz they bring which for that show is important.
And that's not to say that those who are fabulous singers can't have a great career - its just that TV isn't their metier, they're better off with just recording and keeping the interviews down to the least amount.
ooops a smile off sounds good ! (You should really look at that download of the Rove show - I will remind Hairbear to see if she can break it into two, because the interview is simply the best. I prefer COMH version from the Good Friday one, song wise, but I believe the very best will be at the Opera House).

with the major photo
Its good article, although the fella isn't apparently a great Guy fan or a pop fan. Beautiful Life is a fablous album, but again, pretty diverse. Closer to the Sun is even more diverse. Guy is a MUSICIAN - and therefore falls foul of some critics who want their singer to remain in a steadfast slot - be it RnB, Pop, rock, soul, jazz, whatever. They don't want diversity or changes - I guess they want an album they can put on, and do their work to, without it impinging one iota onto their consciousness. But there's plenty of those.
Hey - did I tell ya? He won the celebrity photographer of the year gong!

Manou lands star backing
RICHARD EARLE
GRAHAM Manou is getting some "pop star" help to back his Tour de Heart (http://tourdeheart.com.au/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1) bike ride from Alice Springs to Adelaide next month.
Original Australian Idol Guy Sebastian will headline a concert on June 16 in Roxby Downs and feature in a Twenty20 match the next next day.
Redbacks vice-captain Manou hopes to collect $100,000 for cardiology research on his fund-raising ride next month.
"It's a coup to get Guy involved," said Manou of the initiative, held in conjunction with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation.
"Guy agreed to do the concert on the provision he could play in the Twenty20 match."
Eight cyclists, including South Australian pacemen Paul Rofe, Trent Kelly and Gary Putland, will make the 1540km journey.
The cyclists will also detour to Ayers Rock on June 18 to play a Twenty20 game and hold a clinic for indigenous youth.
A pre-ride luncheon "The Great Debate" is being staged at AAMI Stadium on Friday, June 1 from 12-3pm.
Around 3.6 million Australians are affected by heart, stroke and vascular disease including including Manou, who was born with a hole in his heart.

Thank you, yes... I was very tired last night and so a little 'down', and also fresh from a very unpleasant area. It takes strength to go to those places, and to withdraw reasonably 'nice' afterwards.
ROFL!
Oh, sanjalicious.... sorry I didn't see your post.
He plays keyboard (soooo beautifully - sight reads AND by ear. Somewhere I have a great very soul / bluesy Yes Jesus Loves Me that he and the band did, on the hop, at the big concert in 2004.) He had a grand piano in the house he just sold.
Guitar - but then, what young fella doesn't?
Drums - when he first joined a band and wanted to sing, he was told (we actually heard this too, from the band leader at Youth Alive last year) he was told that he couldn't be a singer in the band but they were short of a drummer, so he could join as long as he drummed. So he did. After two years he approached them again re singing, and so he was told that if he managed to get them a drummer, he could sing. Finally got them a drummer, and sang - and they were pretty stunned!
Violin - probably one piece only. He disliked it, so learnt this one piece and was able to do it pretty proficiently. And stayed at that. I'm not sure who can play the saxaphone - but I dont know that its Guy, I think it might be Chris, his brother next in line.
Material
his myspace, and sony site, and I am actually happy to send some cds across - free. Yep, you'd better believe it. I believe in him so strongly (as do thousands of others) that I'm happy to do this. See the blurb in my siggie - that's not MY quote. On the "It Takes Two" show last year we were so thrilled and stunned to find that some of the big pop and rock classic singers (judges) were praising him to the skies as one of the greatest singers in Oz. Ever more than that. I do think his 4 octave range is a help tho.
And now I've cooled down re that yuk site - I think its our old friends again. With multiple logins. Their fave thing is to push and push and push until someone retaliates - and then put a clickable link on their forum so that everyone who comes on there can see how nasty us Guy fans are. But we're awake to them now, and just ignore them. Unfortunately, however, the particular site in question shouldn't be ignored atm.

AND THE 10TH JUNE TOO
I've given in, lots of arm twisting by my friend (NOT) - and I'm booked. THIS will be totally awesome, with Gary Pinto as the 'special guest' - it means they will be jamming -- youtube, let's stay together at QV.
I can't resist. AND they're supposed to be making a dvd from it.
Which we will believe when we actually see it. But here's hoping *big sigh*
so - things don't turn out for AI as its supposed? I have it on authority from a friend of mine elsewhere?
I will come and have a look later - but meanwhile my agenda tonight (for me) is
play my favourite Guy x 2 on youtube (Always in my Mind and I Surrender All, Hamer Hall)
copy dvd for friend (Opera House, only the 2nd half but fabulous)
meanwhile, paint, pack at least three boxes
and collapse into bed.
We CAN live - you just have to make the effort. Nobody said living was easy but THERE'S the challenge. Meet it.

I'm sorry I'm so busy right atm - we have decided to relocate, downsize, AND in the middle of preparing for a rather long holiday - to say nothing of Guydom, work and many other things.
Let's say, atm, its fairly equivalent of one of those huge Hawaiian waves (ROFL!)

Interesting read in the article, its actually very pro the Idol thing, in that it states that they perform without all the extras that others do when they record - all those electronic thingies that make a voice sound extra good on cds. Idols perform live, and are judged live. The article as a whole is good reading, in my book.
And Guy's song, "Receive the Power", for the World Youth Day - how fantastic is all this? Apparently, next year when he will perform it in front of what is perceived to be roughly 500,000 people (and the Pope), it will be with an orchestra of 160, and a choir of 300 - so the stage funds are being estimated at roughly $1,000,000!! :o :w00t: (oh, and broadcast to 1 billion at least!)
(mmm checking here - but I don't think I'm a zero out!)
Can't wait to hear this song, which has been recorded by Paulini and Guy - and is already available on Chaos for pre-order - and is released WORLD WIDE.
Gotta love the man..... (remembers those fantastic continuous standing ovations for the APO gig)

On Youtube somewhere - 2 clips of Guy drumming at Roxby Downs
search Guy Sebastian Roxby Downs
Yeah, I LOVE that photo - it's so "Guy", just as we often see him before during and after a show.
here's one from last night, doing the 'hand slap' with Anthony Callea, with two of the It Takes Two people in the background. The one with the hat is Ernie Dingo, who is really going well with Rachel Beck - she's marvellous and he's doing well, great sound. The other is David Hobson (whose fans have labelled themselves the "Cultured Club" apparently  :haha: - he and Erika won last year.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v243/angelicguy/ITTwo%20June%2007/a5.jpg
Not sure how come Guy and Anthony seem to be on the same height levels there, but they were having fun, and so were their mutual (and very often, the same people) fans.
Although I must add, some of the people who screamed muchly appeared to be doing it MORE because they wanted to appear on camera - as soon as the camera swung around (they have screens) they'd wave more frantically and scream even louder - no matter if someone was singing)

btw
this came from one of those who travelled to Roxby Downs to joing Guy's Street Party and watch the cricket (Tour de Heart)
Forgot to mention earlier.....at both the street party on Saturday night, and at the cricket,

were going to Grahame's charity. wub.gif

Great, isn't it. I notice that not only are Guy and Paulini singing and launching Receive the Power on July 1 (2 performances), but Gary and Phil are also performing later. I envy all who can make it.
Meanwhile on the World Youth Day site, apparently there will be downloads available, and I notice that one can get it for the cell phones too.
I'm not sure which country I'll be in at that time so I guess I'll have to wait until I get back, but at least I'll be able to get the download.

nice article re 2004 winner casey donovan (too young, and has weight problem, but an amazing, incredible voice).
she is working to get fit and one question was
what caseys listening to (as she uses music to aid in work out etc)
for a heavy workout i like songs with a good fast beat such as Panteras music. But if im going for a walk or cruising I set the Ipod onto random play and it rotates through artists such as Keith Urban, 50 cent, john mayer and GUY SEBASTIAN.
particularly like her listening schedule

Particularly the original music one. The other musicians are major in Australia, in that they have been around for many years. Wonderful to see Guy in that group. Doubt that they will give it to an 'idol' contestant BUT to at least be in there is wonderful.
This continuous 'tall poppy syndrome' that affects Australians is a true pain in the neck. The man has solo tracks on cds long before any Idol comp, he was a drummer in a band for 2 years, before they would let him sing (he had to find another drummer to take his place first, even then), he'd written songs and they'd been on cds and he'd won an Australian wide competition with "No More", he'd toured with bands overseas .... and still certain media pick over his bones! Mind you, they obviously do NO research whatsoever, just get on the bandwagon of TPS!
Boy! Has he shown them a thing or two this year (asked to have his own concert with the Orchestra at the Opera House in Sydney, and Booker T & the MGs, and now this)

Some 26 years ago a boy, 2nd in the family was born in Malaysia to a Portugese/English mother and Sri Lankan father, whose own family were involved in music and singing. The family moved to Australia and all four sons became involved in music through their Paradise church in Adelaide.
Guy would tape and sing along to songs from around the age of 4. Eventually, despite several setbacks, he became a drummer in a band and it was only after a couple of years when he found another drummer he was permitted to sing. Finally, the urge to sing and make his own music became so strong that despite his own family’s culture which looks upon a degree as part and parcel of normal adulthood, he gave up university and took on classes as a vocal coach, while he also studied music and music technology. During this time he was also part of the great Australian band, The Planetshakers, with whom he travelled Australia and overseas and also recorded. There is also a track or two with SA Youth Alive albums. Early in 2003 Guy Sebastian submitted the song “No More” for an Australia wide competition held by PilotPen and was awarded the winner’s prize.
In 2003 he was talked into attempting to try out for the inaugural Australian Idol contest, which format was completely new to Australia. During the competition, when he re-arranged songs into his own unique format, displaying his almost 4 octave range, musicians and critics of reality shows – and the judges – were vocal in their appreciation of his amazing musical talent and it was no real surprise when he won, despite the very great talents displayed by the other competitors. Some comments included “I think your voice is the most beautiful instrument I have ever heard” (Marcia Hines, celebrated US/Australian artist), “I simply never tire of hearing you sing, a true joy and privilege - you are a sublime talent” (Mark Holden, musician/singer and writer of numerous No. 1 hits), “You’re the best unsigned talent I’ve ever heard – you’re destined for enormous success” (Ian Dickson former marketing director of BMG record company).
Guy Sebastian was given “Angels Brought Me Here” as his debut limited edition single, which almost broke all speed barriers in sales, and his debut album “Just As I Am”, which features three of his own original songs, reached almost 7 platinum, due to the frenzy of obtaining something of his voice. (However, we are reminded that there are many tracks available from pre-competition, including two solos and of course “No More” for those lucky enough to obtain that). He not only had no.1s in Australia but also in New Zealand and several Asian countries, where other singles reached the top 3.
It appears that no-one was quite prepared for the incredible whirl of fame that continued in 2004. Guy toured with the group to huge sell-out crowds in entertainment centres and theatres, he appeared in Asia and New Zealand to continuous accolades, took part in his church’s recording of “Paradise Live – Adore” cd/dvd album (in which he sings the major part in three tracks, on of which he wrote with his Pastor). He even flew back from Malaysia to take part in an Easter Gospel Festival at Toowoomba, before flying back again to Malaysia the same day. He was then sent overseas to write for the 2nd album, writing with such well knowns as Robin Thicke, Beau Dozier, David Ryan Harris, Brian McKnight etc. Unfortunately, the timing for the 2nd album coincided with the amalgamation of Sony/BMG record labels and while the launch was tremendous, and overseas interest was immense, the whole and very successful tour was rushed, and lost momentum with ignored New Zealand began to feel ‘the poor cousin’ while Asia felt snubbed.
Guy continued to tour and write for his 3rd album, and meanwhile he was in huge demand for private corporate gigs and TV appearances, barely being able to field everything that was offered. Guy again took part in the recording of the 2nd Paradise gospel album – Paradise – Set Me Free (cd/DVD) and toured Asia with that group.
He also became a World Vision Ambassador as well as being a McDonalds ambassador, and was nominated for Young Australian of the Year.
In 2006 Guy Sebastian’s star was continuing to rise even higher and he was asked to appear in the series “It Takes Two”, where he showed Australia once again why he is considered such an innate artist. A well known journalist penned an article, the gist of which was while Guy brought his extraordinary talents to the show which was greatly enhanced by his presence on it, he was simply too ‘big’ and ‘too popular’ to take part in such competitions. The TV media however continued to ask him to appear whenever they could.
At the finale of that show Guy sang a song penned by him, Gary Pinto and Phil Turcio, “Taller Stronger Better” which received such huge acclamation that it was decided to make it the first single off the 3rd album (Closer to the Sun). However, while it may have been cool to play similar songs by ‘gritty bands’, radio was loath to play it as Guy is a committed Christian and has a major ‘nice guy’ image which they apparently felt was not cool enough. And yet during this same period those same stations might play “My Sweet Lord” by the late George Harrison. However, even despite the lack of airplay the single went gold and is generally considered around the world as one of the true anthems of recent years.
So much is he in demand that quite often around the busier parts of the year he will be doing two gigs per night, especially at Christmas time.
Guy Sebastian’s stunning shows early in 2007 set a new height for artistic and musical integrity, pulling in even more fans. The Australian Philharmonic Orchestra approached him and he had two shows at the Sydney Opera House and one in Melbourne, which again showed his continued evolution as a musician / singer. Conductor Gavin Sutherland accorded him the highest label of ‘a musician’s musician’ as an artist, and gave him the accolade of ‘streets ahead of the rest!’ During these shows different groups and individuals in the audience would simply be overcome with the need to stand up and give standing ovations, and at the finales it finally reached a peak of seven standing ovations by the entire audience at the end of the shows in Sydney.
Unfortunately due to new prior commitments Guy was unable to do more shows, as after a world wide search by the organisation, he had just been awarded the theme song for the World Youth Day 2008, with all the recording, filming and appearances that was thereby entailed. Guy and his friend Gary Pinto’s song “Receive the Power” is available from the WYD08 site, and the song and video are open to the public on many sites.
Guy travelled to the US, and was accorded the absolute honour of recording with Booker T and the MGs house band at Ardent Studios, where they recorded the tracks live with 13 out of the 15 as first takes; jammed with Steve Cropper and Duck Dunn at BB Kings Restaurant, following Sheryl Crow and her father; sang in New York to an explosion of applause as people rushed to the stage and is currently readying for an acoustic tour (October 2007) before the promotion starts for the Memphis album, TV shows and the new tours with his legendary band etc.
Spoken fondly of as “the coolest guy”, “the nicest guy on the planet”, the “most beautiful person I’ve ever met”, and “my favourite person in the whole world” by the ‘cool media’, Guy Sebastian has only just started to soar! We look forward to the 4th Memphis album, and his own 5th album which is well on its way in writing.

Guys site got at again. Really, I wish this person would just go get help, so they can live a normal, great life, with friends etc. This time, the forum link is diverted to another artist. As 98% of guys traffic - according to alexa.com - comes through the forum, this is not good.
so here
Guys forum link (http://forums.guysebastian.com.au/index.php?showforum=3)
this person has undermined, old data, current links, just about anything. Even dabbled in some rather clever stuff.
What this person fails to realise is - it DOESN"T put bums on seats at concerts. Its only web stuff.
It doesn't make or get people to buy cds.
(although here - we have heard of ppl having THEIR fave artist cd under the counter, go "ooh, that didn';t scan", bring out THEIR cd, scan that, give you the receipt, and everyone seems happy. Except ITS THEIR ARTIST who gets the accreditation, and YOUR artist doesn't. Presumably they take their artists cd off the shelf, and YOUR artist gets 'stolen' at some time. Check your receipts just in case.}
It would seem that a lot of scams have now been realised, and which is why Guy is receiving great help this year particularly. The more scams that come to light, the more help comes his way

well its been an interesting week. Creative editing of previous interviews by journos, to make up a 'new interview'. :/ Thank goodness Natalie knows the whole truth - as obviously the journos, too. Pity that they picked the charity effort for the Wishing Tree to do it all. Talk about Scrooges..... :haha: Probably missed out on their free bottle of whisky.
"Your Song" was pretty impressive. "Your Song" is an EP on Itunes too, which can be picked up. Some 6 songs I think - I haven't been there for that yet, so busy picking all the other stuff up from there. Its not often that there are so many albums which include one particular artist, and who is singing several tracks on the albums.
Oh, the ratings? And the comment by SYdney Confidential? :haha: Now lets see. Rove is a huge TV program here in Australia, has bigtime stars interviewed and sometimes performing on there. Hilary Duff, Kelly, - those type. Guy has equalled HIS ratings. Now thats not bad. In fact, I'd say pretty good, for this time of the year.
And of course they're not including those people who, after frowning husbands have gone and turned on the boring stuff, have whipped into the den, or bedroom, or wherever and looked at "Your Song" on THEIR TV.
Guy is headlining Carols in the City at Brisbane tomorrow night, December 8.
Plus FREE CD for the first 8000 to attend Carols in the City 2007.
7:30pm Saturday, 8 December 2007
Brisbane River Stage (In Botanical Gardens Behind QUT)
An edited version of the Carols program will be shown on Channel Ten Sunday 23 December 12.30pm Eastern Daylight Time or 1.30pm Qld Time and the Australian Christian Channel Christmas Day 6.00pm Eastern Daylight Time or 7.00pm Qld Time.
James Morrison is just a superb musician. I didn't even know he could also play piano, and he just rocked me. He is just so admired as a man and a musician extraordinaire. So it was with huge pleasure that we heard today.
Interviewer mentioned Marina Prior and then asked if he had ever appeared with Guy Sebastian and James Morrison replied that he "had backed Guy before and he is amazing. He's amazing. Just amazing."
I've just remembered - James Morrison and John Foreman were the 'band' for Guy's CHristmas Carol in 2005 for the Charity album for the Salvation Army.
Steve Cropper can't say enough, or do enough for him. Ardent Studios want him again, and we have this great interview from Wilbur Wilde, another REAL musician, on his fabulous radio program today.
Interview with Wilburn (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8Z7ESV1Q)
Sounds like Guy had a gig in Melbourne today, so will have to fly up 1st thing tomorrow I guess, for soundcheck for the carols at night.
