View Full Version : A serious questions for AI fans about their voting habits...

I've actually heard a number of you mention that you spend the two hours after the show frantically voting over and over again for your favorite contestants. Why? Do you think they will lose without such assistance? Do you think it is fair?
I know it violates no rules, but (how can I say this nicely) don't you have anything better to do then to hit the re-dial on your phone for two straight hours?
Of the 30 million or so votes they get each week I wonder how many of them are unique and how many are repeat votes. I'm thinking maybe 10% or less are from folks who actually only vote once per week.
I never vote, even though I enjoy the show immensely. I guess because in the end I don't lose any sleep over who wins. But I know some of you take this very seriously....

False,
What's the difference in voting for two hours or talking about Idol in this forum for two hours? (Nothing better to do?) Lighten Up!!! We are all enjoying the show the way we like.

There is nothing "sinister" in my question, I am genuinely curious to know why some people feel the need to sit with a phone clutched in their hands for two hours voting.
As for spending two hours positing in a forum talking about a television show, you make a good point. There are undoubtedly more productive things we ALL could be doing. But at least in a forum there is a chance for interaction. It's a little difficult to interact with a dial tone--although I've no doubt some folks try.:)

Maybe you should use the edit key so your comments will make sense.

FAlSE, What is "POSITING"
I dunno. I think that's what poor southern folks do on their front porch----"po-siting".:yelrotflm
Now are you going to attempt to answer my question or not? Or are some things (like why a person would wear out their thumb voting for two hours) just beyond explaining?

I will attempt to answer your question, as I understand it, with your form of english.
We "poor southern folk" can actually perform more than 1 task at a time.
We can feed the chickens, pet the dog, talk to our husbands and hit redial at the same time.
You know how slow we are, so we never get frantic about anything.

Who's going 'off topic'????????????????? You've got to say something stupid, hugh? Find something else to do, why don't you - let us who get on this forum do what we're supposed to do - talk about AI. What business is it of yours how long we press 'redial'? You probably don't even vote, and stay online to read what everybody has to say and put your two cents in... I wish they'd ban you from this site!

Yeah, really! We are true AI fans - unlike him, I guess! It makes more since to me to 'vote' (which by the way requires the use of the telephone). Ugh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He loves it, too, when he knows he hits someone's nerve. Let's all IGNORE him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter what he says, INGNORE him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe sooner or later he'll find something else to do with his time!

So you don't even vote - you hypocrite! Get off of this forum then - you're not a true AI fan. Your comments mean nothing!

Okay, that I understand. Graciespeaks uses voting for two hours as an opportunity to work on her multi-tasking skills. That's cool.
But Ya-Ya-Sisterhood or whatever your name is, asking people about their voting habits is "right on topic", even if you are too embarrassed to offer a legitimate answer.
There's lots of talk about fairness and legitimacy when it comes to American Idol--the way the show is run, who the producers favor etc. etc. so what is wrong with asking people who vote 200 to 300 times a week to explain why they do it---and if they think it's fair?

LOL. So because I don't bother to vote, I'm not a true fan??
Perhaps I'm just a fan who recognizes that in the overall scheme of things who wins American Idol just isn't very important.
Besides, I must have missed the disclaimer at the beginning of the show where they say "If you don't vote, you can't watch!"

Wow- we're getting the full treatment here. Flaming and serial posting 101.
FalseIdol has posted a question here. If you can't keep your personal feelings for a poster out of your responses and keep it on topic then that's your own deal. Keep it together or I start handing out headaches.
To answer your question, I vote only once. Last night was an exception in that I voted for two different contestants, but generally I only vote once because I'd prefer that they didn't count multiple votes for the same contestant by the same person- it just doesn't seem "right" to me.

I only vote for a contestant once, but I may vote for more than 1 contestant. Last night, for example, I voted (mind you, only one vote each) for 4 contestants. I don't see the problem in doing this if you have more than one contestant you like. :beerchug:

Last night was the first time I have ever voted, and I voted for Elliot once and Kitty Kat twice.

son of simon i was just thicking that myself. anyways i also agree that if each person could only vote once it would be more fair, however that is not how it is right now so i thick people want to show there support, and see the best for there favorite idol ,and see there favorite idol as the winner and truley belevie that there fav deserves to win the show,so hitting the redial button is faith in there idol.also to see your fav idol perform the next week they have to have more votes then everyone else . i could find other things to do but i really enjoy watching my fav each week, and the forms i find them interesting so many differant people, and points of view from all different places. i hope i ansered your question, and im glad you asked becase if you dont ask you may never know.
