Not including Chris, who do you think will stand out this week?
I say Taylor. Any thoughts?

I agree that Taylor is going to probably be the best... I think his style will be very unique with this genre of music... I also think that Elliott will wow us with a kick butt performance... And believe it or not, I think ace will really shine too. Those three (4 including Chris) have the chops to really stand out... I'm looking forward to seeing some stellar performances again, and i think that is what's in store for us this week! :)

If Taylor manages to pull this one off (& I'm sure he will), he will surely stand out.
We've never seen him do Queen or rock, for that matter, so I'm looking forward to seeing him perform.

Actually, I think Ace is going to be the stand out this week. He has more of a Queen sound than any of them. (and i'm not an ace fan)

I can't really see the girls doing very well at all, any of them really. Possibly Katharine might, but I think its going to be difficult for them to sing songs only ever sung by men before, and not easy songs to sing at that. Taylor I think is creative enough to bring something new to whatever song he chooses to sing.

I think Taylor (#1), Chris, and Elliott will do okay with Queen - that's 3 out of the 4 guys. As for the girls - I think that is right up Katharine's alley, but I can't picture Kellie or Paris (at all) AND Bucky - well, I just don't know about that.

Now funnily enough I think Bucky should be ok, cos he can bring his countryish rock edge to the performance. I think the one in the biggest trouble will be Paris.

I think Kat might do OK.
Elliott and Ace might "pull it off"!:awink:

I believe that Taylor and Elliot can be a great surprise this week.
I agree with laraine, this week will be more about creativity and musicality than about vocal range...
So the constestants with a more solid music culture and with stronger own style will be able to make a good performance.

Well Chris is doing kind of an obscure song.. I am a little worried. Either he will pull if off or he will not be embraced.

which song is he doing? I'd have thought Tie your mother down would be a good full on rock choice for him, or Seven Seas of Rye.

Why does Chris get a pass? Because he's a rocker? Tonight's show is going to be brutal. Queen? Look at each contestant.
Why not have a Motorhead theme? Paris does sort of look like Lemmy. It's beginning to look like the producers get together and smoke some Chiba, close their eyes, and then throw some darts at a celebrity dartboard.

Interesting take Frank, But not really how I meant it. I said "not including Chris" because i figured if I didnt, everyone would just say Chris will stand out.
I believe that Chris needs to stand out this week, just like Buckie and Kellie needed to stand out last week. When you focus on a "type" of music, and someone is known for that type of music, people look at them harder, so he really needs to bring something special to the table.
Queen will be hard week, but I think it will be an exciting night...........cant wait til 8!!!!!!!!!!!!

Taylor to sing Crazy Little Thing? I believe this may be a mistake for him!

To be honest with you. I think Kellie done the best tonight. I loved Chris' performance. And Ace was pretty good too, but Kellie is the one I think really rocked. How about you guys?

04-11-2006, 08:29 PM
I totally agree.
I loved Kat's performance, and Taylors.
Though Kellie really did something "risky", and turned it into an entertaining, awesome performance.
I was smiling, and head bopping throughout her whole song.

Hmmm?
Do you mean that she "should" have worn leather?
OR not have worn?
I remember this bright red silk dress shirt...with little cascading layers....but I think she dressed the part of the song she had sung.
The song was "emotional"...and I'm glad she picked it.
I think she would look the part better without leather while performing that kind of song.

I am tired of Chris picking songs for Chris. Yes, he is the most talented, but think about the viewers. I knew the Creed song, but does main stream USA? No. And the Queen song? Are you kidding me? He needs to sing for the audience not himself.

People say this about alot of contestants. But would we really expect Garth Brooks to sing a Queen song?
The fact that some of these contestants pulled it off at all it was I find amazing.

Chris did the same old, same old last night! I think it would be great if he had the lowest score and went home!!!LOL!
Taylor sang very well, his dancing was a little to much like Elvis!
Katherine was the best!
Ace made "We Will Rock You" sound the best ever!:)

Chris is so over rated!!! The judges keep trying to brain wash everyone into think that he is great! The fact is Chris is boring, sings the same type of song over and over. After a while they all start to sound the same! All he does is scream rock songs. Ace adds his artistic twist to songs and gets ridiculed, Chris
makes every song sound the same and gets praised for it??!!!

Was Innuendo never released as a single in the US? It was in the UK, so maybe thats why I'm more familiar with it, a lot of the contestants didn't pick huge queen classics, i'd have loved for someone to try 'killer queen' or 'now i'm here'....:outtahere

I agree. Chris is highly overrated. He's not versatile at all. If you're a "rocker" and you can't sing Queen, then there is something wrong.

Holy toledo. I cant believe you guys are dissing on Chris for singing the same kind of music over and over again, but what about Kellie?? I admit, she rocked on the Queen song, but Chris also rocked on Memories Of Us for Country week and he didnt use even a hint of rock. Chris is the best thing AI has going for it this year.

I know I'm a little older and my tastes are different, but I'm just not feeling Chris. He models himself after the group "Live", and I've always hated that group. I hate that kind of music period. Kellie has proven that she can be versatile and I think she's got alot of potential. Chris only sings to his fans. He's not willing to compromise, even if it's for the better. It's going to hurt him in the end, because he alienates people that are not into his type of rock music. He won't get the votes need to win it all.

You say Chris isnt willing to compromise huh? Well apparently you didnt see the Country week. Correct me if Im wrong, but isnt "Memories of us" a country song with not one bit of rock in it?? Sounds like he compromised to me.

Mainstream America wants to hear mainstream songs. I agree he should win, but thoughout the process humor us with songs we want to hear. When he wins, which he will, he can then go on with his venue.

I think I heard Chris say, this is what "my fans" want to hear. Problem is, not all viewers are his fans. What really bothers me is the judges, namely Simon is trying to sway the audience into who they should vote for by his remarks and some I have agreed with, sometimes he is like that , tho not always ------to be fair. He has come down on all of them, I think he dislikes Paris, maybe she did that to herself. She was using something at one point cause her voice had changed for sure. Main thing, audience, do not let the judges sway you, we are the voters.

When he sang it, it didn't sound country at all. It sounded like a rock song. Just like when he butchered "Walk The Line". Johnny Cash was turning in his grave.
