I happened to have a show on Sat night and one of the topics was to be on Mandisa, Amer Idol. There was the hostess and 2 women on the panel speaking on why she was voted off? What was brought up was her stand against gay marriages and did they the panel think, that perhaps the gay mafia as they are sometimes spoken of in some areas like San Francisco have a conspiracy. They also brought up the subject of her weight and color. Interesting thoughts on Mandisa leaving. Anyone else catch that program later Sat night?

No, none of that was on the show that I saw.
What channel was it on, do you remember?
The show I watched was American Idol Extra.
I know that CNN news has a good entertainment segment, could this have been it?

It was not an Idol show, but a show on Fox News for Sat night and I forget who the hostess was. I think it may have been "Big Story, Prime time" and it comes on at 10 Sat night here in Pa.

I saw it and thought it really silly. They were saying that there is buzz that the gay community banned together to make sure she didn't get votes because of her stance. I thought it was pretty out there and just a reason to get an Idol story on the air. I'm a Fox News fan but that segment was a bit much.

That really sounds like a show worth watching. They have a gay mafia? "I'll give you an offer you can refuse. You either put on these leather chaps, or I'll sing you some showtunes." I can actually picture some female impersonators dressing up like Mandisa and singing, "Any Man of Mine".

LOL. Or they make you "a redecorating offer you can't refuse."

Interesting. When she was voted off I felt it was because she butchered the song she chose, but that's just my theory. ;)

You know, for a society that considers itself "ahead of the curve" on social issues, we're awful descriminating for all the wrong reasons. Martin Luther King Jr. used to say "I don't want to be considered an African American, I just want to be considered an American." [/paraphrase] What happened to this mentality among minority groups? (For the record, I'm ethnically a minority here in America). Instead of promoting equality, we hide behind labels and bash one another in the name of "political correctness". It's every bit as racist and descriminating as the other extreme.

So if Mandisa won, someone would jump up and say "it's because she's black", and if she lost "it's because she's black". She's anti-this, pro-this, moderate here, conservative there. Is she running for public office? NO- she's singing a freakin song for freakin TV...

To get into that sort of descrimination only serves to damage the minorities here in America. In some peoples' eyes I haven't earned my college degree or professional status on my own merit, I earned it because of racial quotas. If I fail at anything in life it's clearly due to racism. These types of mentalities only serve to divide our society further. Protecting the civil rights of citizens means extending it across the board. Extending government aid should be based on socio-economic background, not color or ethnicity. [/end rant]

How does Mandisa feel about abortion, stem-cell research, NAFTA, or the war in Iraq? Should we honestly care? Did her ethnicity do her in? Maybe, if we could prove that Paris, Fantasia, and Rueben are suddenly not African American.

Ridiculous.

I wonder, If the "gay mafia" was able to send Mandisa home, wouldn't they be able to keep Ace out of the bottom three? Since so many of you think he is gay, If he was, wouldnt they try to keep him on the show as long as possible? Theres an old saying that I believe to be true....it takes one to know one. If they had this power wouldnt they use it both ways?

Or.....maybe Mandisa was voted off because not enough people voted for her, maybe her song selection was poor last week. Maybe Ace isnt gay and gay americans know this (even though some of you dont) so they dont feel a special need to throw votes his way.

Maybe people of all sexual orientation actually vote for who they think is the best singer.

Theres an old saying that I believe to be true....it takes one to know one.

ROFL.

Now any one who suggests ACE might be gay must be gay themselves? Riiight. What are you going to suggest next: "ACE is rubber and we're glue...."

Besides, where does that put you with all your comments that Katherine is an arrogant, conceited b----?

:jump1:

That's Flaming.....be careful

And by the way I didnt make up that saying, I was only quoting it.
As for Katharine being arrogant, sometimes things are just obvious.

PS.....I never called Katharine anything but arrogant, the other words are yours

There is nothing flaming when you parrot someone's own words back to them.

You said you BELIEVE the expression that "it takes one to know one" so therefore any one who suggests ACE is gay must be gay themselves.

Therefore EVERYTHING you accuse Katherine of being, you must be yourself, because you believe "it takes one to know one".

Sorry, but you can't have it both ways. Whatever you accuse Katherine of being you yourself must be....

...unless, of course, you want to withdraw your ridiuculous "it takes one to know one" comment---which you only threw out there with the hope of curtailing the "ACE is gay" remarks in the first place.

We will just see what the Judges say

Be nice guys. Let's see if we can stay on topic this time.

We could speculate that Ace is gay, or say we think Mandisa is fat, and maybe that sucks that it sways votes somehow, but unfortunately that's how voting goes.

The term "gay mafia" cracks me up. Especially after watching the Sopranos last night. Instead of busting your kneecaps if you don't make your payment on time, they'll just make fun of what you are wearing.

We will just see what the Judges say

The judges strike me as fair people who will accept the remarks for what they were.

If you are going to attempt to paint people with the broadest brush possible and try to label them because they make comments about one of your favorites why should you expect to be insulated from being painted with that same brush when the tables are turned?

Unless of course you feel the judges should hold you to one standard and the rest of us to some other standard.

If there is a gay mafia, please let me know! I feel certain there is not!!!!!!!
Ace's sexuality should not come into play!
Ace is an awesome performer and I hope his talent continues to flow and I will continue to vote!

Hi Cloie4me and FalseIdol:

I've read this thread (and the numerous others where people are butting heads) and I'd recommend that both of you take a break of a day or so from topics that evoke these debates. They're not productive to any of the threads and I'm tired of seeing topics crash and burn because people feel the need to carry arguments into that next level.

If you don't like a certain poster or their opinions, please don't de-rail the topic by insutling people. Likewise, if you feel you are being attacked, then let the Mods do our job and report the post to us and/or put the person on ignore. Don't get yourself into trouble because someone else has baited you into flaming.

I'm going to give this topic another try. Let's hope we don't have to keep locking things, ok?

Now, we'll see if that works, Son of Simon. But no one has to tell you WHO started it all. I've been reading the forums, too (and even responded to some). 'UNTRUEIDOL' (figure that out) seems to always go off topic. You can't kick him out?
