Grant you that, she does have a nice voice and perhaps I will learn to appreciate her more, if and when, she puts out future cd's. I haven't heard "How come..."

Actually, I think that all the Canadian Idols have been pretty good. Unfortunately, I don't think they get the best material to work with after the fact. Nor do I think they get enough exposure after the season's over. It's as if they need a summer replacement show, and once it's over and the American TV season kicks in, the C.I. winner is abandonned. Why doesn't CTV give the C.I. a 1 hour TV special? Maybe a Christmas special which would come out about a month after the finale, and the winner is named. But no, there isn't a lot that happens post-Idol. It's kind of disappointing, but it seems like it's happened every year.

I was really, really pleased with last night's Guy's show. There are some really good ones there. Some bad, too, don't get me wrong, but they showed a lot of promise. This could turn out to be a very good season.

I think the rocker from Cape Breton should go though. He seemed way too exaggerated. I don't know if he's genuine, or if he is faking it, but it just didn't work for me. Yes, the Cape Breton guy was terrible. I thought the judges were going to kick his arse for that lousy performance??!! I could have sung like that for crying out loud. It was a corny Kareoke performance!

JD Bixby was good. He will have to mix it up to stay in the competition but he has a great voice. The other's names I can't remember but yes there was some good ones.

The girls weren't as good as the guys I didn't think. There are some good ones, don't get me wrong, but I think the guys may be stronger this season. Tonight the eliminate 2 of each. It will be interesting to see if the really bad/weird rockers go. I am not convinced they are serious. I think that they may be trying to mock the concept of the show, because they are way over the edge. Let's see what the voters think.

Thankfully Jaydee is still in! His song wasn't that great last week and I was worried about him but he made it through!! He said he couldn't hear himself sing so he was too fast when he started off singing and his song choice wasn't that great IMO. I have a feeling he has a huge support of voters from Alberta so hopefully he'll see it through to the end if not the winner. I'm hoping he'll be the winner.

I've been so frustrated trying to find some chatter about Canadian Idol. I loved the AI season, and chatting all season long. Unfortunately with CI, there has been nothing on this site (or very little), so I had to resort to a different site, and it's been terrible. It's so great to find you guys chatting, so I'm getting caught up.

I really liked Jaydee before this week. He was terrible this week though, but he's only 16, and he has a lot of growing to do. Jordan had a terrible week on the Rock week, and she still pulled it off, so maybe he can recover.

Personally, I really don't like Matt. I can't understand why they keep saying he's the best singer - I totally disagree, although, last week, he was fabulous. This week, he could have done really well, be he didn't heed Enriquo's advice. Speaking of Enriquo (is that how you spell it?), he was FANTASTIC last night. May be my new fave.

I think Marth Joy definitely was the best singer in the group, but she just could not perform, or at least pick good songs - don't they get help and advice from anyone other than the weekly celebrity, who only spends 10 minutes with them?

Carly Rae and Greg are the standouts to me. I'm picking them both to be in the final two, which will be interesting if I'm right, 'cuz they're both from BC.

I also like Brian, but from reading other sites, I don't think he has a strong fan base. I think he's a really strong performer, but unfortunately, he's got a definite style that doesn't appeal to everyone, and he picks songs that he likes, but the audience doesn't necessarily like, which will probably be his downfall.

I'd love to hear other people's opinions.

I'm from the Toronto area, but from a talent/voting perspective, I never vote for someone based on their region of the country. I don't care where their from if they have talent. In fact, now that I think about it, I've always tended to like the people from the western provinces best. Year 1: Billy Klippert - Calgary, Year 2 - Kalan Porter - Alberta, Year 3 - Melissa, Alberta, Year 4 - Tyler, Saskatchewan. All from the west. However, I really don't like Matt this year at all, and Jaydee, is just too young to win it all. So, this year my vote is for BC all the way, although, I must admit, I really think they're all pretty good this year. Probably better than most other years as a whole.

I thought he would have been a better host. But, over time, I got to like Ben quite a lot. However, I can't find many people here that like him much.

Now, after saying that they all grew on me, I'm having a bit of a problem with the judges this year. I really like Farley, I think he's the best judge by far, and although I often agree with Zack, I'm not always comfortable with how crass he can be. I think he tries too hard to be the Simon of Cdn. Idol. And Jake never seems to crack a smile. Apparently he and Zack HATE each other, and it's hard for them to be in the same room together. Since I heard that, it's really quite obvious. Jake will almost always have some snide comment about what Zack says, and when he agrees with him, he almost apologizes for it. This has really interfered with my watching them this year. And Sass, does she ever really say anything valuable? Like this week, she said to Jaydee, "you tried something different, and I appreciate that". So, was he good or not???? She's supposed to be a judge, so judge, don't just make a comment that cannot be interpretted.

But, even though it sounds like I don't like them, I actually do. On Cdn. Idol, the competitors are the stars of the show, not the judges. That's what makes us different than American Idol. The judges do not try to steal the show.

I think when you're dealing with young, fragile contestants, you have to be able to pick up the slack after potentially bad comments from the judges. Do you ever watch E-Talk? That's where I really started to like Ben. I think he's much more comfortable in that setting.

I had a dream that I was engaged to Ben and he took me home to meet Mila. That's when I knew that I must be starting to like him. But, as I say, I don't know anyone who watch CI anymore, because they can't stand either Ben or the judges, but I keep trying to convince them that if they give it a chance, and stick with it, they all grow on you.

I enjoyed reading what you had to say. I love Farley he's my fav! I love his style lol. He's over the top with his style but it looks good on him. Last year was worse between Zack and Jake from what I saw. I get the impression that they are trying to back off from each other this year. So I do believe there is no love between them but they are keeping somewhat away from each other. I like Ben better than the other guy you mentioned. I did'nt know the comic guy was considered to be the host. I rarely pay attention to the comic guy. He's the guy that mingles with the people during the first round of auditions right? Maroon 5 takes to Canadian Idol stage for pop/rock week

A week after Greg Neufeld was eliminated at Top 7, his favourite bands will take to the Canadian Idol stage: the platinum selling Maroon 5. Talk about unfortunate timing.

The look on Neufeld's face when next week's act was announced on Tuesday's show clearly indicated his disappointment, and who could blame him. One of the most popular pop/rock acts in the world right now, Maroon 5 are known for soulful vocals, catchy hooks and a string of danceable hits.

Based in Los Angeles, Maroon 5 is made up of Adam Levine (lead vocals, guitar), James Valentine (guitar, backing vocals), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, backing vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar) and Matt Flynn (drums).

Their debut album "Songs About Jane" features hits "This Love," "Harder to Breathe," "She Will be Loved" and "Sunday Morning." It hit quadruple platinum status and earned the band two Grammy awards.

Now, after a four year interim period, they are promoting their second album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long." Their first single from the new CD, "Makes Me Wonder," is currently number one in Canada on Nielsen SoundScan's Hits Chart.

"We love Canada and our Canadian fans and are really looking forward to performing on Canadian Idol," said a statement issued by the band on July 12, the day CTV first announced Canadian Idol's guest lineup for the season.

The band will perform on Tuesday's results episode and will also be featured in Monday's performance show where they will comment on the songs the Top 6 has chosen.

If song selection on the show so far is any indication, they'll be facing a sympathetic demographic. Two Maroon 5 songs have already been featured on Canadian Idol performance nights: "Sunday Morning" was sung by Andrew Austin on Top 18 week and Neufeld's took on "This Love" on Top 22 week.

What a shock!!! I couldn't believe the bottom three. Just like Jake said, they were all my top three. Unbelievable. I was sure that they were going to go to a commercial and come back and tell us that it was a mistake and they were the top three. Now I really can't undertand what the heck Canada is voting for. For the Queen night, every one of the remaining 4 who weren't bottom 3 were far worse than those 3 - what's going on?

I voted for Carly Rae 5 or so times, and I must admit, I was a tad surprised that I got through so easily. In other years, I remember getting so many busy signals. I didn't think for a second though that it was because she would be bottom three. If she and Brian go, I'm not sure that I'll have any interest left in the show. Of course, I'll keep watching, but don't really think that any of the others have any real appeal. I think Jaydee and Tara both have a good chance for a Nashville career, but not for Canadian radio, not Toronto radio anyways.

JD is a great singer but he's not CDN Idol material, I don't care for Dwight, I don't like the country gal but I like Matt and Carly. I think Brian has a good voice but I don't like his song choices. For me Carly and Greg were awesome competition for each other but now he's gone. I just have one winner in mind now and that is Carly.

I think Zack was right about that last night. But, Carly Rae is my favourite. I agree that Greg and her were the only real competition in this, and now he's gone. She's been bottom 3 twice, which makes me think that the voters are just wrong this year. Really wrong. I, too, like Brian, and totally agree that he's picking the wrong songs for this type of competition. I think the songs he's singing are perfect for his type of voice, but he's not considering the audience/voters. The judges recognize it, and as Zack said last night, because the judges are saying they (Greg, Carly Rae, Brian) are good, probably they'll get kicked off, so I fear either Carly Rae or Brian are gone tonight.

I agree about Carly. If she goes, then there are only guys left, and for me Brian is the only one that can sing with any consistency. I think Matt can sing (Whipping Post), but I don't think he's too bright, because he was told over and over again that he needs to sing that kind of stuff, and make if raw and strong, but he doesn't do it, so I don't think he's really Idol material. And although I could one day make a go of it in Nashville, he's still way too young, and he just can't sing well right now.

Yes, you are right I did appreciate Brian more. Not so much by his first song but by his second. He nailed the second song and I like how he gave kudo's to Paul Anka for getting him there! I respected him for that.

Well, although we agree about Carly Rae, we'll never agree on Jaydee. I think he's cute as a button, and he's got a nice deep singing voice, but he's way too single dimensional - Elvis. He is untrained at this point, and would really benefit from some heavy duty coaching, but right now, he's not Idol material. A lot of far more talented people left long before him (Greg/Martha Joy). He's only in this because of his looks, not his talent. I think he's Canada's version of Sanjaya - cutsie, and liked by the you girls and grandmothers, but not talented. Sorry.

Canadian Idol is very good this season with trying out a few different things like letting the singers play instruments and tonight our judge Sass sat in with the singers during rehearsals. Sass gave great advise to them. It would be like Paula sitting in the rehearsal giving pointers rather than a special guest. Also, not only did the judges pick a song for the top 3 singers but they had a poll for the public to pick a song too. Subtle but good changes.

I love Burton Cummings. When my brother was young and in his early 20's he was drunk with some friends at some hotel. They stepped into an elevator and there was Burton Cummings. My brother being the loud mouthed drunk and figured he was way too cool for Burton yelled out "hey look everyone it's Hermon Cummings!" and everyone bursted out laughing at Burton??!! What a jerk! So recently I said to my brother how can you not like Burton Cummings? I said when you are driving and his songs come on the radio you can't tell me you don't sing along? I think he's got a good voice, and he can do it with the right coaching, but he's just not ready yet to be an Idol.

He really did a good job with it, and I don't really like him. I think he benefitted from a long coaching session with Sass. Long enough for them to listen to you sing it once and give a word of advice, but do they really work with you??? Jaydee has the talent, but it's still really raw and untrained. If I want to listen to Elvis, I'll get the real thing.

According to CTV, the margin between votes earned by finalists Jaydee Bixby and Brian Melo last week was only 2 per cent - meaning that next week's winner will likely be decided by Jepsen fans who must pick a new Idol to support.
It was the biggest vote yet this season, with 4,126,861 votes recorded last Monday night for Hamilton's Brian Melo, 25; Drumheller's Jaydee Bixby, 17; and Top 3 finalist Carly Rae Jepsen.

On Tuesday, more than two million viewers tuned in to CTV to learn that Jepsen was eliminated, meaning Brian and Jaydee would go head to head in the finale.

What they didn't know was that less than two per cent of the total votes separated Brian and Jaydee.

The Top 2 take to the stage for their final competitive performance on Monday.

They will sing three songs each, including the new 2007 winner's single "All I Ever Wanted," which will be released to radio on Sept. 12; a tune from the Bon Jovi songbooks following a mentoring session with that band's Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora; and one final song of their own choosing.

The following night, the next Canadian Idol will be revealed in a two-hour, star-studded season finale featuring Bon Jovi, Avril Lavigne, Season 4 winner Eva Avila and the remaining eight 2007 Canadian Idol finalists. Throughout the show, host Ben Mulroney will throw to live feeds from Hamilton, ON and Drumheller, AB, hometowns of the Top 2 finalists, as their communities rally to support the contenders.

Then, as the show reaches its climax, host Mulroney will reveal the winner and invite him to perform "All I Ever Wanted" in triumph. Last year's winner's single, Avila's "Meant to Fly" debuted at No. 1, went platinum and remained on the top of Canada's singles chart for six weeks in a row.

I agree that this makes sense - I loved Carly Rae, and as I've said before, I think Jaydee is not ready. My Carly votes are going to Brian, who was my second choice from week 1.

Brian on the other hand was fabulous, and the judges completely agreed. I'm almost embarrassed for Jaydee, because the judges didn't hold back one bit. Clearly the judges think Brian should win.

I'm intrigued as to how the audience will vote, because clearly Brian is the whole package NOW, whereas Jaydee has tons of potential, but still needs a lot of work. It will be interesting.

Jaydee is only 17 so I can see how he was nervous! It was clear that he was nervous. I still don't like Brian's voice and only give him credit for the last song. Zack said he'd rather manage Jaydee so that is one judge on Jaydee's side. That grumpy judge that makes snotty remarks to Zack has been gunning for Jaydee for the last 3 or 4 shows. He has been trying to persuade people to vote for Brian. My husband didn't watch the show but could hear it from his office. He said they both sucked LOL! He said he was glad he didn't watch it.

I was so pleased with the results last night. I was going to post something, but I didn't want to spoil it for you, so I held back. I really enjoyed the entire show last night. I thought Avril and Bon Jovi were great, and I was really pleased with Eva's performance. I really, really liked seeing the top 10 back together again. They all are really quite talented, and I even thought Dwight was not bad, which I definitely didn't think during the competition.

I wonder how the voting went. In other years they made a point of saying how close the voting was, but there was no mention about it at all this year. Although they made a big deal about the record number of votes (5 million), they didn't stalk about the split at all. I have a feeling that it was pretty one sided in the end.

I totally agree that Jaydee will be very successful if he wants it bad enough. I think he needs some heavy duty coaching, but as you say, he's got the talent and the looks. So, if he takes advice and applies himself he'll be fabulous.

I think the reason we don't do the top 10 tour thing, is because our season is a summer replacement for AI, and by the time it's over, we're back into the September routine and very busy, whereas the AI tour is typically a "summer tour". It's kind of unique that they are doing the top 3 tour. It will be interesting to see how well it does.

My hubby watched too, and he really enjoyed it. But, he superficially watched it with me all summer.He wasn't really that into it, but he humoured me and watched. He was disappointed when Carly Rae got voted off, so I thought I might lose him for the finale, but he really enjoyed it.
