I don't think her size had a whole lot to do with her being voted off... face it, she tore Shania's song to painful shreds! But my husband and I were talking, and we think she's already got 2 careers lined up: a Gospel music career and a spokeswoman for Jenny Craig (Come on, think "Kirstie Alley"). This is not being mean. I think it's highly plausable. And, no, this isn't being said out of spite. I think Mandisa has a great voice. She definately has a future! :luxhello:

lol I was about ready to start screaming once I saw the title of this! lol I know what you mean, she is going to have a lot of great things coming for her. But I think it probably be more like a gospel album or something like that because it seems like something she would do. I don't know, I just hope we hear lots from her in the future and I can't wait for a cd. I'm so disappointed, I think people made a huge mistake by getting rid of her. There are definitely people still on the show who don't need to be. I'm such a fan of Mandisa, I will miss her a lot, but I know there will be lots of good stuff for her ahead.

She has lots of faith and is not ashamed to talk about her Lord. He will bless her for that, believe me. It was a great stand to take and she will not lose. He has another direction for her and being the Idol was not one of them

I'm with you there, Helen. I loved Mandisa, she was a true role model and America hasn't seen the last of her by a LONG shot. "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window." Go find your window, Mandisa.

I agree that Mandisa has a marvelous voice. However I believe her weight made her less appealing to some folks. If you notice voters stuck with their picks even when they had a bad day. People thought she would be safe so they didn't vote for her. It's a shame that some of the others who are less talented got to stay. I say to Mandisa---Hold your head up high. You are still a winner.
Actually, Mandisa has tried a lot of things to try and lose weight to no avail. She's always been large no matter what she's tried. Funny that she was the lowest vote getter when me and the wife both got busy signals for a long time when trying to vote for her. She has much more talent than many that are still there.

I think it was more of the song choice that did her in. I really wish she would've sang "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton. Anyway, I wish her all the best and I know God will bless her in all that she does, whatever she decides to do in life.

Mandisa is a genuine person. She didn't try to act cute or flirty or trampy. She may not have had the best voice but she is someone a lot of people connected with.
The problem a couple of the women have that are left is that they fail to connect with the viewing public. I've thought about what irritates me about Paris and Katherine and, to be honest, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is! Paris is a bit easier with her helium-voice but Katherine doesn't have anything obvious. It's more of a "feeling" I get from her. Maybe it's her cutesy act or the way she appears "aloof" to it all. I just don't think we've seen the real Katherine yet...at least I hope what we've seen isn't the real her.

Actually, I would be shocked if Jenny Craig representatives haven't already contacted her. Hoperfully, she isn't so "comfortable" with her body that she feels she doesn't need to lose weight.
There's a huge difference between being Paris Hilton and having a few curves. In Mandisa's case she is morbidy obese and that extra weight poses a severe health risk.

O.k., I must admit that I don't know who Jenny Craig is but I've been reading this thread.
I wouldn't make an issue of her weight but I do think that if she lost some weight & were the same size as say, Queen Latifah, she'd be pretty.

FalseIdol, you started off this whole thing with talk about how Mandisa should be promoting Jenny Craig but you did it very tongue-and-cheek to appear well-meaning but making fun of her at the same time. Since you've gotten some harsh words from other people, you've tried to tone-down or justify your comments by saying you're doing it because obese people will have medical problems - as if you care about their health.
If you have something against fat people then say it! Have the gonads to put your opinion out there and stand behind it! But, if you aren't prepared to do that then keep your comments to yourself. Don't put them out in a public forum if you don't have plans of standing behind your comments.
I have my opinions but if I am not prepared to back them up then I will zip it!

Oh puhleaze. Did it never occur to you that someone can joke about something yet STILL be concerned about that person? Besides, I'm sure it is upsetting for Mandisa to get on a scale and have it say "One at a time, please." (Bada bing)
Being fat, like being bald, too tall or too short is still fair game for people to make jokes about----or are you forgetting Simon's comments the first time he met Mandisa?
Look, I won't argue that making fun of a person's size isn't the most politically correct thing to do in the world---and if I knew Mandisa personally I doubt I would ever comment on her size. Nor would I make a comment about Ace's perceived sexuality.
But since they are just semi-celebirties whom I am never likely to meet, they are fair game for jokes and some ribbing----or in Mandisa's case a WHOLE LOT OF RIBBING.

I like Mandisa, but she does need to lose some weight. Honestly those hips make her look huge and when she was wearing jeans, oh my god, her thighs. Let me stop talking about this woman. Honestly she has a pretty face and I agree if she was like Queen Latifah's size, she would look great.

She might be overweight but she is already BEAUTIFUL! And a great personality and voice.

Obviously not. SuzyQ commented about my remarks about Mandisa and I responded. Either way, apparently you missed the requests from the moderators to try and stay on topic.

Well, yeah but she'd be even more so if she lost some weight. I'm not so bothered by it but that's just a thought. I don't think she has to drop twelve sizes & become like Halle Berry, though. She's a big black woman & that's her appeal.

Wow, I hope that opportunity comes her way.
Mandisa is a beautiful woman, and I would rather have her on Jenny Craig promos than Kirstie Alley ANY day.

If you google her , you will find that Mandisa is hardly a new starter to performance - in fact it would seem that she is a professional singer . She has a fantastic voice ... incredible - I will miss her . I agree, she murdered Shania's song , and paid a heavy price.
Let's not be cruel ( as Simon was at first , and some of you are )... she has a weight problem , but I see a woman who have a big heart , lots of soul . She has a gift and a mission ... and she is beautiful .
