To all Melinda fans....

I have been totally shocked and have even depressed since yesterday that Melinda got voted off this week. Even though I understood that the best singers almost never win and AI is more of the popularity contest than a true singing contest... I still wanted to see Melinda at the finale. Reading some other people's negative opinions about Melinda makes me just roll my eyes, but I can let that go because everyone is entitled to their opinions (although putting Melinda down just because you are either Blake or Jordin fans isn't cool at all). I am most upset about the fact that I won't get to see Melinda perform next week, because I truly enjoyed her performances week after week. With Melinda, it was more like listening to the seasoned pro (like Randy always said) - not like other contestants (wondering if he/she will do good or bad that week or not). I just have to remind myself and all other dissapointed Melinda fans to look forward to her long and successful career coming her way. She has a potential to win Grammy in matter of a few years if she gets good songwriters writing her music.

I have noththing against Blake or Jordin - I think they both are nice kids. You could see in both Blake & Jordin's faces that they were shocked when they found out that Melinda got voted off. Blake especially - you could tell in his expressions that he thought Melinda was more deserving of a spot in the finale... I am a little more worried about Blake & Jordin's future career than Melinda. Sure, Blake might have been unique - but that is when you compare him to other contestants in AI - there are so many other artists out there that are a lot more unique and talented whether it be beat boxing, rap or contemporary pop vocals. As for Jordin - same thing - there are so many young & attractive competitors in the type of music she would be pursuing and I'm not sure if she's good enough to shine through the competitions like Christina Aquilera or Beyonce. Both Blake & Jordin have to survive in the field of "trendy" music where people may love you one month and you could be forgotten the next month. After all, only the artists with talent, luck and perseverance will prevail.

Even though I hate the irony of AI, I still am grateful that we all found Melinda's exceptional talent. Thank you, Melinda, for sharing your talent and the humble/kind heart.

Blake may have to struggle a bit because beat boxing isn't everyone's thing but I think there is a big Jazz scene out there which apparently likes to do also. LEt's not forget that there's a big "live performance" scene out there like clubs and the like which Blake is also into. As for Jordin, she is young and has plenty of time to develope. Let's not forget that Jordin is very attractive and can also be "sexy" especially if she drops some lbs. which is not hard to do if you have the resources. Jordin has a certain "something" which is why she has the following that she does. Kelly Clarkson isn't exactly a sex symbol but she's got pipes as well. Jordin will do just fine.

Hear hear! Anyways, there's a certain reassuring irony in the fact, that the two best got ditched by popular vote one after the other. But they're both already signed, I'm sure.

Now we can just hope that Jordin rocks it on home... she also deserves it. And probably needs it more than the "two divas" - makes one think, once again, if this was planned from the beginning... :-)

I think everyone feels that Blake is all about Beatboxing--Not so, He is into Electronic Dance Music more and his opportunitied are endless--I don't think he wants to do the POP scene, he likes more of the underground music scene. His field choices are wide open and his talent we have seen on the show I think is just the tip of the iceberg--he's been writing music for years!

I don't think Blake is all about the beat boxing - I think his talent lays more in arranging the music since his vocal is good but not that powerful. I was thinking he should go more towards the route Justin Timberlake did. Justin was at first more of a pop vocalist and then went on to producing music and he's doing really well. I love his "sexy back" piece! I do agree that Jordin is pretty but not yet really "sexy" - she's still giggly & cute. Kelly Clarkson's vocal is more powerful than Jordin and I believe that's where her success came from. I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm worried a bit because Jordin has many good things going but none of them seems exceptional... but don't get me wrong I do like Jordin and wish her the best - I just don't think I will be buying her CDs unless her music producers do something extraordinary.

Yeah, she's really a sweet girl with alot of talent. Like I said, everything will work out for everyone in the end. All three, along with Lakisha, will be very successful.

Winning AI wouldn't have been good for her.
And any true fan would know that.
She'll also be remembered as one of the Idols that was never in the bottom three (along with Kelly, Carrie, Taylor, and Jordin). And that's quite a title.

Here's the logical reason why Melinda was voted off. Melinda and Jordin were similar-ish, both girls wiht strong voices and Blake was somehtign totally different. So half the votes went to Blake, and the other half was divided between the two of them. Jordin is generally overall more of the Idol type, and everyone wants to see a 17 year old girl with an amazing voice win.
So there you go.

I really do feel your pain. I know what it's like when your favorite gets voted off. I was a big Latoya London fan, and when she was voted out, I was devastated. I was also crushed when Sabrina was voted off this year. I couldn't believe it, I figured she'd at least make it to the top 6.

My mama was actually crying when I called her the next morning. She thinks the world of Melinda. The best thing is, is that regardless of the outcome, we know Melinda, Jordin, and Blake will be around for a while. I'm looking forward to Melinda's CD, as well as Blake's, Jordin's, and Lakisha's. I'm a firm believer in that everything happens for a reason, and that her getting voted off was no coincidence. There's an old expression, "Good cream rises to the top."

I don't know if he's the best singer, but he's definitely one of my most favorite AI contestants ever! I guess I always go for the ones with not only the talent but the heart. Both Elliott & Melinda's singing come from the heart - there's feeling & passion when they are singing. There are so many other contestants that have good voices but try to sing just with techniques. Like Jennifer Lopez said - you gotta tell the story if you want to reach people's heart! I bought Elliot's CD on the day it came out - will do the same with Melinda's! :love:

I think people are too hard on Melinda because of her age. I'm 27 and i'm still trying to have a music career. Chris Cornell didn't make it big until he was like 30 years old. He is the former singer of Soundgarden for those who have never heard of him.

I think people are too hard on Melinda because of her age. I'm 27 and i'm still trying to have a music career. Chris Cornell didn't make it big until he was like 30 years old. He is the former singer of Soundgarden for those who have never heard of him.

I love Chris Cornell's voice. Remember "Temple Of The Dog"? I think he and Eddie need to team up again.
