Country week? Could this mean a virtual lock for "Daisy Mae" this week? It appears that the website, WWW.VoteForTheWorst.com is going to crusade for her until she gets whacked. And trust me, she'll outlive her usefulness to A.I. Producers soon enough. The singer that I believe will have the hardest time with YeeHaw night is going to be Paris. I just can't see the Gary Coleman look alike doing very well with this format. My song choice for her would be........ ?

I can't see Paris whooping it up country style either, so I think she may have to sing a ballad, how about Landslide by the Dixie Chicks

I like that Laraine, Fleetwood Mac covered by the Dixie Chicks--Yet another cover of a cover.

I just think its a beautiful ballad, and Paris is the one I think this week who will struggle to find something to sing.

There's also Whitney Houston's "I will always love you" , originally performed by Dolly Parton, which makes it technically "country".
It makes sense that "vote for the worst" is firmly encamped in the Pickler regime. She just can't compare to any of the female vocalists left, and I consider all of the male contestants to be more entertaining than her.

That was my choice for Mandisa, its a beautiful song and I love the emotion that Dolly puts into it, which for me, is sadly lacking in the Houston version.

I think Country has so much to offer all of the contestants. They have 70 years of music to pick from. I don't think however that the vocalists that already sing country music have the edge. Country music has one of the biggest fan base, that being said, Country music fans have a chance to pick the best this week and not just vote for their type of music. This may leave kellie and bucky in the cold. Not being the best singers, they may not get the votes this week.

Excellent point. Here's a thought for you: Will the judges (and fans) be MORE critical of Kellie and Bucky as this is their percieved forte'?
I think something similar happened to Elliot and Lisa on Stevie Wonder week, as these two were perceieved to be the most comfortable with that body of work. If you notice the judges seemed fairly praising of people like Bucky wherein this was clearly out of his comfrot zone, but seemed to have stricter commentary for Elliot and Lisa. Thoughts?

With respect to Kellie, if you are in the same boat as me, you're beginning to feel the "so what" that Simon Cowell often speaks of. As we enter the waning weeks of AI5, I believe vocal ability will play a more prominent role in the voting. Regardless of genre, or forte, I think she's going to need perfect song selection AND a blowout performance to avoid the bottom three this week.
One could argue that the week to week voting dynamics as contestants were/are eliminated may help keep her around (and perhaps they will, this week). But with only the 9th and 10th place contestants gone, the voting dynamics have probably not picked up enough momentum to have major impacts.
Bucky needs to select the right song and he needs to continue to improve. This week should be a breeze for him. Certainly, people will compare Bucky to Kellie this week, but I think being an underdog to Kellie (and I'm assuming most feel this way) may have its advantages for him. If she continues on her path of mediocrity (she's heading down the same path as Lisa... quickly starting to really bore me), people will look to the more interesting characters.
The guy that's really going to have problems this week is Ace. He's not even comfortable in his comfort zone. If he doesn't choose a more upbeat song, he's going to let his nerves get the best of him again, and he'll start slipping into the boring category, right there with Lisa and Kellie. And 'trying' to be sexy just isn't working for him. He needs to forget about 'the look' and rubbing the scar, and all those sorts of things, and focus more on engaging the audience with stage presence. You have to get the girl's attention before you can seduce her my man.

I agree completely. If the "country singers" dont stand out this week they are really going to get the criticism of the judges as well as the fans. I have read that some think that AI is being bending over backwards to help kellie and bucky(with a having a country week) For me, I would rather "be pretty good" out of my comfort zone than be "pretty good" in my area of comfort. I think they better "bring it" or plan to go home.

Yeah, I think Paris will have a more difficult time on this one. How about something by Faith Hill / LeAnn Rimes? Or Rascal Flatts? Although the latter may be a bit too whiny for her. Not that Rascal Flatts sucks; I actually quite like them, although I don't really like country.
I'm sure Mandisa, Taylor & Elliott can handle it. It may be a challenge for Chris & Kat & definitely for Ace.
As for the rednecks, I honestly think they will pale in comparison (as usual) even though country seems to be their "thing". Throughout the competition, we've seen kellie & Bucky hang on to country with dear life, turning to the genre every chance they get. Yet, they are consistently blah. I'm sure the judges will have high expectations of them & end up being disappointed. At least, that's probably the case with Simon.
It's not the genre, folks. It's the singer.

Country music has so much varity to pick from. I believe the best will stand out this week and I will prob be able to narrow my vote down after watching. But I dont think they need to sing Faith, Leanne, etc. I dont think they will compare unless they do it different. I'm hoping to hear some "old school"

Old school? Johnny Cash could work for Taylor. Just came to my mind.

Cloie4me, On the subject of country oldies--I mentioned this in another post but it bears a second say. How about the following:
Elliot--Hank Williams's Cold, Cold, Heart...Chris--a Merle Haggard tune. Can't wait until tonight to see this. I do agree with everyone else that judging should be more stringent for the two country singers (and in my humble opinion the least talented singers left). So Bucky and Kellie better bring it tonight.

The same way Bucky will "twang it up". Or the same way Taylor will "soul it up". Or the way Katherine will "sultry it up". Or the way Ace will "boy band it up." etc. etc.
But I'd like to know how you surmise Kelly is in trouble? She seems to be pulling in plenty of votes.

Kellie may get votes because of her fan base, but that doesn't mean she won't "twang it up"!
