I have big questions about the credentials of the 'so called' stylists on AI. They have made some dodgy wardrobe choices for many of the contestants this year.

Last night, they let Barry Gibb waltz right past them and onto the stage in THAT outfit! What the hell!? Those were the tightest jeans known to man, and they unfortunatly left little to the imagination. AND A TRANSPARENT SHIRT! I could have lived out the entirety of my life without seeing Barry Gibb's nipples! It is bad enough that we are exposed to Simon's week after terrifying week, but now Barry's! Come now, people, haven't we all seen enough? There are children in the audience!

LOL. I was distracted by the scary teeth. Kinda reminded me of Jim Carey's Fire Marshall Bill. "Hey Idol fans, let me show you something."

TOTALLY! I couldn't place where I had seen that caved in face before, but you just reminded me! HI-LARIOUS!

Poor Guy. It is hard to believe he was once considered a sex symbol.

That's the best!!!! Classic and dead-on. I would bet nobody tells Barry what to wear, though. And somewhere, somebody thought he was really smokin!

At least the shirt was buttoned! It could have been worse.

I agree, totally need to fire the stylists.

Why do they have Melinda in what looks like the same drab-old-Italian-Widow dress most of the time?

Then their idea of "young and funky" is a dress worn over jeans, which I think we've seen on all the ladies. They had Jordin in a knee-length fancy-formal-looking dress over jeans, which IMO looked really weird, to pull that look off the dress needs to be shorter and more casual.

Get new stylists! I bet there are plenty of talented people who would LOVE that job!

Someone else said that in that song Jordin resembled a taller version of Punky Brewster. All she needed was a skate key............

I believe the stylists are men. Maybe they need two women to give feedback and add a touch of glamour to the contestants. Aren't there more men who are fashion designers? They should also have a black hairstylist to do the three women of color hairstyles. I know the guy who was Oprah's hairstylist is a well known for his work in Hollywood.
I agree they should be fired. From the hairstyles to the clothes they come up short. Like that hairstyle and the makeup that Melinda wore during Jennifer Lopez week really made me cringe.
Last year they Kat McFee was transformed from Frumpy to vivacious. Every season they should hire different stylists. That's my take.

Perhaps I should have specified: someone in WARDROBE needs a beating. The hair and makeup is overall gorgeous, but the ladies are frumpy and Blake wears grandpa pants.
I do realize that it was Barry Gibb, and he has been known for some 'interesting fashion choices'. I do blame the 70's for some of those, but I have real questions about his ensemble yestereve. Those pants looked REALLY uncomfortable! See through shirts on men just make me really mad, like black socks with sandals (well, socks with sandals period), and wanna be gangstas who sag their pants. I did find out that he has a terrible case of arthritis, so I apologize about my comments about his face earlier in this thread. The arthritis is so bad it is even in his face and is messing up his features.
But seriously, someone gets paid to make sure that everyone who walks on that stage looks like a respectable human. That person was not doing his/ her job.

I read somewhere that the last something like 12 people get a weekly allowance for clothes and they go out and buy their own?? I think it was like 400.00 a week? So perhaps the stylist only does the makeup and hair?

I didn't notice Barry's clothes last night. I thought he looked great!?? I thought he looked kind of aged during his interviews about the contestants but when he got out there and sang I thought he looked like he was in his element and lost the aged look? Funny, but I thought he was excellent! :)

If they only get $400.00 that's not a lot to look like the stars in Hollywood. Maybe they are shopping at places like H & M where clothes are for a reasonable price. Sometimes the song may call for a more formal clothes, whereas at other times they can wear something more casual like. I do believe that Blake must make his own selections. He has a style of his own. The contestants should be allowed to pick out their clothes, but the stylist should accompany them to help make the decision. Personally I usually shop with a friend who waits outside the dressing room and tell me if the clothes look good on me.

I missed Barry's performance because I had to go out for 5 minutes. I came back to see Lakisha get voted off. Ryan Seacrest kept going to commercials every 2 minutes it seems. Later when I watch the video of Wed night performance I'll be able to make a judgment about Barry's clothes.

Q: Do the Idol contestants really get $450 per episode for their outfits? —Christy

A: “American Idol” finalists do receive a clothing allowance, which allows them to reinvent themselves on a weekly basis, or at least give themselves a new look for the duration of the contest.

Last year, for the third season, finalists each received $450 to spend before each week’s performance. They went “shopping with stylists Miles and Kristen Siggins on Friday afternoons,” MTV reported.

During the first season, Kelly Clarkson, Justin Guarini, Tamyra Gray, and other other seven finalists each received $2,000 to buy new wardrobes for the final rounds. Clearly, things have improved for the finalists — those first-season finalists who lasted for more than four weeks must be jealous of the weekly allowance.

So how much are this year’s contenders receiving to deck themselves out in the hippest (and if they’re Constantine or Bo, buttonless) clothing? We checked with FOX, but they’re not releasing the clothing budget. However, we can safely assume that it’s at least equivalent to last year’s budget. With some of their wardrobe choices, though, it’s sort of hard to figure out where that money went. —A.D.

I remember reading last year when Taylor wore that awful jacket it wasn't his idea it was the Stylists that chose the jacket for him and they told him trust us it's perfect! He said that he would never choose such a jacket...

That was a horrible purple jacket if there ever was one. Those stylists should be immediately fired. Maybe they wanted to sabotage Taylor's win. During the second half of A15 they really transformed Kat. Remember the little yellow dress fiasco?

As for Blake's pants that some of you keep referring to as "old man pants" they are fashionable and hip in the young group of people. I work part time in Buckle's and we sell tons of "old man pants" :D

Would Buckles be a department store? I think Blake is trying to be a trendsetter. Seems as if he likes Vintage clothing. Not only his pants, but his jacket and vest seems to be from another decade. A friend of mine works at a store that sells and buys vintage clothes. Surprisingly, sales are great because lots of young people purchase the stuff.

Oh my God! Come on! No one forces them to wear anything. Thew wear what they want.

But it might be nice that Blake could blame someone for looking like such a dumb dolt.

That is the guy that needs some help...although Jordin's last outfit was bit, uh, let's just say it didn't flatter her much. But she chose it.

And as far as Lakisha, I hate to see her go but has anyone told her that she is not a size three? My goodness.

I did notice his left hand had an unusual crook to it. Arthritis is another great equalizer that afflicts the rich and poor. Tough deal...but he has always had a nice set of choppers.

Barry couldn't care less what anyone thinks of his clothes. In fact, the more you say how much you hate them, the more he would likely be pleased. My mum and dad are about his age (or at least they were teens and young in the 60's 70's) and you should see the stuff they come up with. They are writers, just as nutty as singers when it comes to clothes for people who were teens in the 60's. I was born in the early 80's and I was a little nervous about a dress (I guess you could call it that) my mum chose to wear at a wedding we went to recently. Her response: 'you hate this dress? Groovy! Let's go!'

As for the contestants, well I don't think they could ever make everyone happy. I mean we would likely make even more fun of Melinda if she wore Christina A or Britney S clothes instead of 'widow dresses'. Wouldn't mind if she tried though, that would be hilarious!

Once again, Eileen, I agree with you completely...Barry was, is, and always will be one of the greats..absolutely unique. Sure, a superb Armani suit would have been a treat for us all, but you know what?..I doubt I would have noticed..I was once again mesmirized by his persona and his voice and the falsetto did not let me down, not one Iota..Loooong live Mr. Barry Gibb! Your fans still adore you. To the rest of you, I guess I have to say,"You just had to be there"...
