View Full Version : What's a guy to do with a Bee Gees Song?
Good lord people, you sure do flip flop--Beat Box was good last week...but he throws a little something in the mix and now it isn't okay. If the judges had loved it, most of you wouldn't have too much to say--
THANKFULLY he gave us something to watch instead of having to listen to a straight out rendition of some graveyard corpse called music. Randy says, that song didn't need non of that--OH YES IT DID Randy...and it needed more than that--It's UNIQUE /Different and THANK GOODNESS FOR THAT.
I hate the judges, they are useless and CONFUSED--yes confused, they ask for uniqueness --but wait--only on "some songs". I thought what Lakisha did with Stayin Alive was awsome!! A little funk, was great and brought it into the 21 century...Oh wait...that isn't allowed!
Randy always saying that "These songs have Great Melodies (coughing), they don't really need to be changed that much..." Are you serious...
Pour Lakisha, they have been telling her for weeks to bring it...something different and NOW, thats not okay.
I don't think I can sit through a Melinda and Jordin Finale without my No_Doze. Someone please save us from that--a carbon copy of last year...Taylor was a "bit" entertaining, but I got sick of watching him after week 5.
Thank God for Blake(s) UNIQUENESS and Bold choices.

I normally like Blake's beatboxing, but it just didn't seem to work this time. I didn't care for the song choices, either, but what can you do? Not everyone can sing the Bee Gees.
Funny thing is, I think he'll survive this week.
Yep, he should have done JIVE TALKIN' I mean...HELLO/noone did Jive Talking-GEEZ
Blake will survive with his fan base.
But I do agree that the first song was a mess. He took a dance tune and rearranged it to the point no one could dance to it. Then he added the beat boxing in a place it didn't really fit. It was almost like he was trying to fill a beat-boxing quota for the song. It just didn't flow. To top it off, he sang a good portion of if off key.
But maybe not winning would be the best for Blake. I think he'll be more successful apart from the AI producers and their contract. I think Blake can produce his own music. His strength in the competition is his ability to make his own arrangements. If he gets out before the final he can probably have the freedom to do what he does best. Honestly, I think winning would hurt Blake more than help him. He needs to get out like Chris Daughtry did in AI5.
Winning would really help either Jordin or Lakisha (I don't think she'll be around for the finale' though).

Actually, that would've been a great song, and he probably could've put some beatboxing in on that, successfully.

I agree, Dee! :)
I hated the judges this time. What's wrong with them? I actually liked Blake this time, and i didn't so much last week. I think his beatboxing was too much last week and yesterday it was only on the right places and it really fit.
Also I think Lakisha did a great job with her first song. I think she freshened up the song. If she sang it Karaoke it would have been really boring.
I somehow don't like Jording singing (maybe I'm the only one). I don't know it always sounds to me quite screetchy.
Melinda, oh well, she sings well every week but that's all.
From the 4 left in the competition I don't think there is one that deserves to be crowned American Idol. :( Unfortunately.
Missing Sanjaya

I actually listened back and I didn't think that he sang it off key at all and I have a pretty good ear!
But maybe not winning would be the best for Blake. I agree, I just want to watch him in the Finally--selfish maybe, but how can anyone want to watch it otherwise. I think he'll be more successful apart from the AI producers and their contract. I think Blake can produce his own music. His strength in the competition is his ability to make his own arrangements. And that is why he isn't trying to compete in the "vocal" category, but most people don't get that. If he gets out before the final he can probably have the freedom to do what he does best. Honestly, I think winning would hurt Blake more than help him. He needs to get out like Chris Daughtry did in AI5. As a runner up He doesn't have to sign the contract--I would bet that he has something working already, but I think they are smarter than that, even if he did sign on--they would be foolish to pigeon hole him...thats not where the money is--just like they didn't try to make Carrie a pop star.
Winning would really help either Jordin or Lakisha (I don't think she'll be around for the finale' though).
I definelty agree the person who gains is Jordin in this foursome.

The Bee Gees had several big hits in that disco period. I thought Blake could have delivered that style very well, but curiously, he chose not to. I think he missed a chance to help himself.

Blake does something people did years ago and is all of sudden praised like he invented a new genre. I don't get it. Sorry.

Well, Dearheart, if you want to be precise, the accent mark goes on the "L" in Finale, not the "E"...in any case, it is not FINALLY.

NOOOO.....Its just different from the usual garbage that we have been forced to listen to for season after season thats all. He brings something DIFFERENT to the SHOW. I don't know about you, but I have had it with the Motown-R&B-how many soul classics can we fit in type of crap!
