I think Jordin is a good singer, but I find her BORING. Like every single other poppy-girl-next-door act. Very cookie-cutter. And the past 2 performances have NOT been good. She has been shouty and pitchy! I like her..i do..i just prefer to see unique people like Blake who is completely different. It's actually surprising to me that I like him so much cause I usualy don't like beat-boxing, but he really does SO well and I liked his Bon Jovi performance!!! I thought it was awesome and different. Even if you didn't like the performance, you have to give him credit for taking such a risk....I want to listen to a musician who takes risks and shakes things up and does his/her own thing and doesn't care what anyone else says.

It's funny that you mention that. I've felt Blake has been boring for awhile now. I admit he did raise the bar last night with that performance. I still believe his best was when he sang Virtual Insanity. He really impressed me with that song. Blake's performance was original for AI but not in the music industry altogether.

I agree. Blake took a chance and did a great job. I was a little worried because Jon Bon Jovi had some hesitancy about Blake's style and when the song began, I was not sure this is going to work.

But he did it and it sounded great. I felt he even projected his voice more last night - more powerful. He's previously had a more softer voice, but he proved he can belt it out too.

Yep. That song says "You're so evil and hurt me so bad I'm going to tell the world what an eeee-vil bee-hotch you are". Blakes version was techno-elevator music.

Totally agree--Its no surprise that I am a fan of Blake's and Not a huge fan of Jordin's. Contrary to the populous here, she had another bad night last week too.
Blake is what you might call a "SMART" contestant. He knows what he is doing every single week and I am sure that he isn't thinking of actually winning this thing and doesn't want to. He pulls out all the stops. He isn't the best singer, he isn't the best beat boxer or the best looking contestant--BUT, he is industry smart in what ever way he can be this early into his career. Blake THINKS through every single weeks song and always aims to please. I think his only misstep was Imagine--not the way he perform, but for actually choosing that song. Here is a write up I pulled from the i-net and I had forgotten about all of that sheet music laying on the piano when he was with Jon, but that shows that he totaly took thought about everything;

Not only did Blakey rip apart a Bon Jovi classic--"You Give Love a Bad Name"--and not only did he do it dueling-beatbox style, him vs. a drummer; but he did it with black hair. WTF?

Seriously, the real slim shady is back in the building, y'all, cuz Lewis showed what he's got. He went into his consultation with Jon Bon Jovi--Jon Bon Jovi, okay--with, like, ten pages of sheet music. Jon Bon was all, "Oh crap, this Lewis kid has some cajones to be changing my most brilliant, classic masterpiece," and then he was all, "but, shoot, he's got what it takes." Blake flashed his pretty, pretty teeth and made some snarky comment about the whole thing, and then he took to the stage and made that song good again. Damn!

The only part of that writeup I disagree with is the pretty teeth remark.

Well then you must have missed my post last week--I thought for sure I would get touted with numerous hateful smilies for throwing it out there about Jordin. But I was also surprised. They don't come out readily, but there are a few of us who buck the general consensus of what is the "popular" vote.

Yeah, I wanted to hate the beatboxing thing too, I really did. Never liked Blake grampy-pants before, but I actually found this rendition of "You Give Love a Bad Name" compelling. Disgusting... yet strangely compelling... I liked it!

The other big surprise was Lakisha. "Jesus Take the Wheel" had me throwing up a little in my mouth, I ready for her to go!!! But she REALLY, REALLY did well last night, totally nailed it. We taped the show and watched her again a few times. She was that great.

I agree that Jordin is a great singer and has natural talent, but omg! Is it me or does anyone else out there notice the tendency her eyes have to find the camera in order to fake her emotions???? The last vote Phil was singing his song and Lakeasha was drowning in tears... and Robin omg, was just, what seemed to me, coldly watching his performance, standing , again in my opinion, only because everyone else was, but here is the kicker.... and I laughed all night behind this and just knew for sure someone would speak about it, she caught the camera as she regularly does only this time lol the camera caught her, with a cold expression then suddenly crunching her eyebrows and forcing her face to look stressed . It was so obvious! I feel if they can call out Simon and his underbreath comments why is it that no one notices this girl faking her personality! I am by no means taking away from the girl as far as her talent but American Idol is also based on personality. I just hate to see what her personality will really reveal if she wins . ..oh well, I guess we will have to just be surprised lol.

Ok, I am a huge Blake fan and have been since the beginning. I did find his last few performances as boring until this week. He ROCKED! I wasn't that big of a Jordin fan at first...but as Blake faded into boringness, Jordin picked up my attention. I really liked her and her personality. She is sassy and confident, much unlike Melinda. Anyhow, I love Blake, Like Jordin, and DISLIKE Melinda! (which is off topic, but I had to say)

I think Blake definately wins the originality award on Idol. I loved what he did to the song and I grew up listening to Bon Jovi. I liked Phil and much rather have seen Lakisha leave first. Good grief!! Why does everyone think beat boxing is so refreshing and different. Just because it's coming from Blake? I'm a drummer and I think beat boxing is cool to a certain extent. What in the hell is Blake's album going to be like? Will he beat box on every song?

All depends on how people will vote.

When I heard his arrangement of the song... my reaction was : you either love it or hate it. I agree he has done a good job for his kind of music. But unfortunately, I'm not one of the guys who love it. He's a good singer, and youngsters may vote for him.

True the girls are a higher league, but in here, it's all about votes.

You know there is beat boxing in RAP, and that kind of music sells to teenagers, so Blake will definitely get the youngsters' votes.

I've realized that after watching A1 for 5 years that it's not how well you sing it's the votes, i.e. how big is the fan base. Unfortunate, but that's how it is.

Also do not forget SOUL PATROL. These fans were dedicated and determined that Taylor should win the competition. I am 5'8" too, but I am not a heightist! :) Shorter is OK if he will wear Timberlands.

(any Seinfeld fans see the episode where George meets a woman while he's wearing Timberlands, which add 2 inches to his height, so he wears them every time he sees her).

Good for you Mr. J. It would be great if everyone were at peace with themselves.

I make it to the gym about once or twice a week myself, but whenever I am on a cardio machine I start thinking about how bizarre the whole concept is. Kind of feel like a hamster running around on a wheel, you know?

PS - Does artistic mean gay? Are you turning another thread gay on us? (LOL, just teasing.)

I liked Barry back when his songs were current, I wouldn't go to his concert or buy his "records" but I enjoyed hearing Mandy and I Write the songs. When he did Copa Cabanna he was right out of it, lame-o. Now that he's older he is a big ham. I can't stand seeing him now. He is as hammy as a ham sandwich!
