It's a Reality show.........
Tonight on MSNBC's Scarborough Country Joe interviewed two entertainment reporters and the creator of the "VoteFortheWorst.com. Everyone was in agreement that Idol is not a singing competition but instead is a very well made reality show. Their arguments included statements like, "if it were an actual talent show, wouldn't the competitors be better than the ones that the judges actually picked? Think about it, tens of thousands of potential singers from all over the country audition and we end up with Bucky, Brenna, and Chicken little? One reporter mentioned that during the Ruben/Clay Idol there was proof that AI had rigged the voting because of producers fears, that Aiken was gay. It was reported that season that the voting was 60%/40% for Ruben, but in actuality Clay had won the vote 60%/40%. The interview also mentioned that the shows producers wanted Personalities that would appeal to viewers more than their Singing ability would. That makes sense. It was also reported that the federal government was asked to look into AI's voting discrepancies, but was told by the Government that they saw American Idol as an entertainment vehicle, a reality show, much like Professional wrestling is. Hmmm...
I have always wondered why with the talent pool that AI had to choose from, why we the viewers, are subjected to so many really bad singers? Oh well I guess in the end it is entertaining. It's a great way to kill a couple of hours of Idol time. I'll enjoy it for what it is, a well made reality show.
