The "Chris copied LIVE" string got me thinking. Let's have a week where each contestant writes and composes their own song, then performs it on stage. My bet, Chris still comes out on top. Way on top. C'mon AI producers... make it interesting.

"Writes and composes" their own song might be hard to enforce, and it might just give a cheater an edge.

What I'd like to see is to have the requirement be that they perform a song that no one has recorded before. It would be a real test, as it's harder for a performer to impress even fans with unfamiliar tunes.

It would also point out which contestants are basically bland and uninteresting.

Very good points. I can see how a rule where the contestants have to write and compose on their own could easily be broken while the cameras are off. In your scenario, it could be someone else's song, just one that's never been heard by America. I have to agree, that would still be very interesting. I have to believe there are probably only a couple of contestants that would be up that kind of challenge.

When I read your post it made me laugh out loud. I see your point and agree 100%.

I can see it now, Mrs. Forrest Gump could write and sing a heartfelt ballad entitled 'I'm BALLSY" sung to the music of Patsy Clines' song, Crazy.....

"I'm Ballsy, ballsy for faking being stupid....."
"I'm Ballsy, ballsy for being so dumb........"

Oh Poop!

since Taylor Hicks already has two CD's out would he not be the favorite in this category. Go to ebay pick up one of his cd's for $300 it is amazing.

They only have a week to prepare - not a possibility.

Why not? I want an Idol who has fun with music, to bring it back to what music used to be, before everything was so controlled.

It would be better than them trying to change "music" of this century into something worth listening to! Also, let them play their instruments, if it's what they do.

I'm thinking some people with not much :boldblue: :boldblue: natural talent but lots of training would drop like rocks.
