:( Yes, I, too, feel badly about Sanjaya..as much as I wanted him gone, I never condoned the hateful things people said about him..he was a sweet boy who had a great 1st audition, but went nowhere after his audition, except downhill..sorry, let me correct that..the week before his last week I felt he did really well, (Jennifer Lopez week) and did a really good job on the song he sang..although,like Simon said, I didn't understand a word of it, as I don't speak spanish. I can READ and interpret Spanish in THAT form, but spoken (or in this case, sung) it is too fast for me to interpret.. but it sounded beautiful. But this was the highlight of his stay, and so it was only right that he was the one to go --and as always, this is only IMO, as everyone has their own and are entitiled to it..but in any case , badly is how I feel for all the abuse he has taken along the way, as it was the public-- US!--not the judges..that kept him on past the time he should have gone home..thank you Sanjaya, for being a gentleman, and seeing it through with good humor and grace to the end..

he will be missed on ai i am sure... ai's rating probably did skyrocket when he was on... i am glad that he did sing well that night.... and i am sure that he will find lots of opportunities in the future.

as for stern, well, i guess he just will have to deal with fact that he had a hand in the ratings for ai to probably break records...if he thinks about it ... which i am not to sure that man actually does think.. he may not actually like that idea.

it was his plan to bring down american idol, but it back fired... :flamethro

see ya, howard stern!

Good riddance!
But...do you think it'll do it with another one (contestant)?

i think ai's ratings will remain high............i hope phil sings as well as he did last week... that will show stern.......

i think after all of this, stern's days are numbered.......he is not a good influence on the younger generation.

bye bye sternie

You know he had a nice voice - just wasn't versatile enough for this show. But since I live in VA I can't help but feel for him with all the teasing and ridicule he is experiencing - that's the same thing that happened to the Tech shooter.

Can't we just learn to accept people who are different and stop making fun of them?

OMGosh...PLEASE!!!! You get out there on a show where its all about "who's good who's bad" and you don't think this will happen...My goodness, is it really necessary to bring up that other stuff!!! NO I have no tears for Sanjaya--he will be just fine! Move on

Yes he's fair game on the show - but I'm talking about now that he's off the show - let him be

Last time I saw Sanjaya he was standing in front of Henry Kissinger and Sheryl Crow at a dinner with the President--talking about his planned three-prong attack: modeling, singing and acting.

No sympathy here! People who made noise about Sanjaya (good AND bad) are responsible for his fame. He owes a big "thank you" to Howard Stern and VFTW. They made him news!

Lets see....how many TV interviews and shows has he done recently?--How many times have we heard he wants to model, sing, act etc... LEAVE him alone!!! I don't think he is asking to be left alone--You think. NO, he knows EXACTLY what he is doing. I have nothing against what Sanjaya is doing now...I am just THANKFUL (omg) that his isn't in contention any longer for AI.

Yes, Sanjaya will be just fine, and it's time to move on.

But as to the comments--this goes way beyond talking about "who's good, who's bad." We're talking about real hate here. I've read comments where Sanjaya has been called "queer," "faggot," "HIV-riddled," just for starters... and I won't even touch on the racist comments.

No one deserves that, no matter how much in the spotlight they might be. And the fact that many these comments come from adults--and directed at a 17-year-old kid--is disgusting and reprehensible.

This needs to stop, whether directed at Sanjaya or anyone else.

He's gotten lots of publicity and can make $$$ from it if he wants to so don't feel too sorry for him. I do think he got a bad rap though. He sang pretty well or would never have made it to the finals. His quality got better as he got more confidence, but he was tagged as one to make fun of and people couldn't see past that. Simon tried to dog down Clay Aiken too, if you remember, and he was a fabulous singer. I just hate that people think it is cool to rag on particular people. Sanjaya didn't deserve his rap, but he will do fine, I think.
