Kelly for the top three.....NO WAY!!! Her talent is average, her looks are average and if beauty was a rock she would win. Everyone is so tired of her Forest Gump routine that they are hoping she gets the boot right after Bucky. Mandissa has more talent in her toe than Kelly has in her whole body. Elliot is another true talent. Kelly is just a pretty face with very little in between her ears. :confused:

I agree with Angel on this... I actually got an email from someone claiming that by me using 'Naughty Minx' as the caption on the caricature shirt of Kellie, that i was being biased...The person went on to say that basiscally i was an idiot for not using 'Pick Pickler' like EVERONE else does... Even though I dont use the names for anyone else! Seems like that suggestion would be biasded to do. Besides, perhaps i dont want people to pick pickler! sso, why i should i put that on her shirts??!!!

I don't know if you are talking about the same Taylor Hicks, but the Taylor Hicks I've seen on AI is sexy, can sing, and his clothes look just fine to me. You can't listen to every word that comes out of Simon's mouth. Remember in the beginning, Taylor was a lost cause, in Simon's eyes, and Randy and Paula were able to discern all that marvelous talent. It's painful to listen to that venom coming out of Simon's mouth sometimes. I judge for myself, and at no time am I swayed by Cowell to vote for anyone. How can Simon really judge someone when he can't sing himself! Let me end by saying Taylor Hicks is an original. He's the genuine thing! Take another look, Take another Listen, and maybe you'll be able to discern the real thing.

Your opinion is noted. I think one of the reasons that Taylor is so well liked is that he appeals to the "Baby Boomers". We all like the blues influences of His music. As to your picks of the best three, "As Meatloaf would say, "Two out of three ani't bad". Chris and Kat...agreed. But Kelli? Her continuation of presenting us with the "Dumb Hillbilly" act is wearing quite thin. Even the website, votefortheworst.com is campaigning for viewers to vote for Kelli. Does anyone here think that Kelli is really as dumb and stupid as she appears? "What's a Ballsy"? Huh?? The country bumpkin act is wearing thin and getting old fast. And another thing, the only singer on the show that is worse than her is Bucky. She most certainly will be gone soon, unless the viewing audience keeps her around to screw up the competition. Taylor's already gone further than some of the other idols. Check out his CD "Under the Radar". Although it doesn't compare to seeing him perform live, it shows that he definitely can sing (and play guitar... and by the way, it's hard to dance with guitar strapped to you). One can't simply dismiss talent because the genre of music doesn't appeal to him or her. He is very good in his genre. Anyone who's seen him perform live in and around Alabama would tell you the same. I don't believe he will win American Idol 5, because he has some very tough competition this season, and his particular genre isn't as widely popular. As for me, I'll be first in line at Best Buy the Tuesday his CD comes out.

I kinda like Taylor. I do not think he is the best of this years idols but I do like him. He is not original though. Ever heard Joe Cocker or more importantly seen him sing. Taylor is doing a complete rip off of Cocker right down to the facial expressions. The only thing that is different between Taylor and Cocker is Taylor is not as compelling as Cocker. Sorry I know people are gonna be mad about this, but Ive seen them both live and thats what I think.

Now on the other hand Bucky isn't the best but I don't think he is the worse. I don't like Elliott to much, his performance last night was okay, but I don't know he bores me.
I think Lisa should be worried after last night. But who knows tonights show is going to be interesting to find out the results.

I agree with your post,and you make a point that, even though Mandisa is heavy, she does have a beautiful face. Well, what if Mandisa was not only heavy, but did not have a beautiful face. Or what if she had an unattractive face, but a beautiful body. You're still focusing on the "physical beauty" in people, while you criticise those who don't look beyond.
Unfortunately, it is a "package". If it was merly a contest held on the radio, and you couldn't see the contestants, it would be a different story.

As for my preference... looks-wise, Ace, of course. God, but he's pretty. I like pretty boys. Talent-wise, Katharine has a fantastic voice. And personality... the topic of conversation, Taylor himself. He's memorable. No, I don't think he'll win. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say Chris. He is probably the most well-rounded contestant this season as far as the mystical 'Total Package' goes. He can sing (anyone who think he's cookie-cutter rocker obviously missed "I Walk the Line" and his performance last night), he is GORGEOUS, and he just seems likable. Honestly, there are very few this season I flat out don't like. Kellie is about the only one left that I'll be glad to see voted off. What a brainless ninny she is. I have a soft spot for Bucky... I don't know if you are talking about the same Taylor Hicks, but the Taylor Hicks I've seen on AI is sexy, can sing, and his clothes look just fine to me. You can't listen to every word that comes out of Simon's mouth. Remember in the beginning, Taylor was a lost cause, in Simon's eyes, and Randy and Paula were able to discern all that marvelous talent. It's painful to listen to that venom coming out of Simon's mouth sometimes. I judge for myself, and at no time am I swayed by Cowell to vote for anyone. How can Simon really judge someone when he can't sing himself! Let me end by saying Taylor Hicks is an original. He's the genuine thing! Take another look, Take another Listen, and maybe you'll be able to discern the real thing.

Even did Roy Orbison's "Crying" and did it well. Do you know him? And a Michael McDonald did a credible job. Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" was number one.
The number one song of all time (according to the "100 Best Country Songs of All Time" was George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today." And the best country duet of all time was Dolly and Kenny's "Islands In the Stream." I wish you could get this channel.

I was, I have to admit a little surprised at not only the eliminated act, but the bottom 3 altogether. I'd have had the bottom 3 including Ace, although I do have a soft spot for Bucky, maybe because I like the country stuff. How on earth did Kellie not drop in the bottom 3??
I ADORE Raul Malo, he has to be the sexiest guy on the planet. (apart from my other half that is.. lol) I've seen him and the Mavericks around 7 times live and they are a great fun band, if you want to come away from a show feeling like you won the lottery, go see the Mavericks. I guarantee you a great evening. Hear him sing in his native Spanish tongue and he will have you passing out with delight, he's got such a rich baritone. We get no country radio here, only if I tune in via my pc :(
Next weeks theme is a might worrying too if you ask me, I think its very dangerous to expect people to try and perform Queen songs, as obvious comparisons to Freddie will be made. I wonder which song Tay will choose?
None of them are in the slightest bit soulful, but I guess if I had to choose one that he could at least work with, it would be 'You're my best friend' although the melody is quite restricted.

I want Mandisa back! Mandisa- you'll be greatly missed by your fans throughout your absence in the competition. Mandisa is my favorite female Idol 2006 contestant. She rocks to the core! Looking at the bottom 3, all are singers in the "soul/ R&B" genre. The fans of Mandissa, Elliot, and Paris (figuring their favs were safe another week) probably took the night off, rather than submit themselves to listening to country.

The two most limited vocalists (Kellie and Bucky) were given a huge break, and unfortunately Mandissa was the one victimized. I can tell Taylor has a huge fan base, but "Country Road" was just awful.

We don't get to see Nashville Star, but I did get hold of the albums that came from it, i.e. the finalists albums. Plus I have Buddy's albums, I love him dont you? Why didn't anyone choose to sing 'Help pour out the rain' this week, I adore that song. For Queen choices, I guess Elliott would be better with a ballad, 'who wants to live forever' or 'these are the days of our lives' - Chris will probably rock out with 'tie your mother down' or something, for Taylor, I'd like to see him rock it with 'We Will Rock You' or 'Somebody to Love'. Helen, I totally agree with you about Taylor. I wasn't an idol watcher, but one night, my 16 year old daughter called me to the living room and said "mommy you oughta come and see this guy, he's really good! That night Taylor had his harmonica with him. Since that I haven't missed an episode of AI. Mainly I watch to see Taylor perform. Kellie reminds me of Mr. Bush, but in Kellie's case she's acting dumb, while with Mr. Bush he really messes up words. I really think Norman is terrified that Taylor might just win.

The guy is totally unique, there has never been anyone like him in the competition before, nobody has ever gotten into the music so much before while performing, and to me, a 44 yr old female from the UK, he is the real deal. I'm glad that America (some of it anyway) have taken him to their hearts; and no matter what the result of the competition, Taylor is guaranteed a career at the end of it. Remember back to his first audtition 'I want my voice heard'... well that has surely happened now, and I think Clive Davis would be a total fool if he let this guy slip through his fingers were he not to win the compeition.

Kelly for the top three.....NO WAY!!! Her talent is average, her looks are average and if beauty was a rock she would win. Everyone is so tired of her Forest Gump routine that they are hoping she gets the boot right after Bucky. Mandissa has more talent in her toe than Kelly has in her whole body. Elliot is another true talent. Kelly is just a pretty face with very little in between her ears. :confused:

Having listened to all 6 performances now, I think Kellie's was by far the weakest. I don't understand how she chose a song that has always thus far been sung by a male? there were plenty of Celine Dion type songs she could have chosen... poor song choice I guess she chose it as she knows its one of Simon's fave songs, but after Clays performance of that song in season 2, nobody else should mess with it imho

I think/hope America gets it right tomorrow and votes off either Hicks or Pickler. As much as I have loved watching the journey of Kelli Pickler, and as much as I will seek to support her endeavors, her performance tonight was in the bottom two for sure.

The other, Taylor Hicks is just getting annoying. I think America is catching on to Hicks little scheme................As a refresher course, Hicks first impersonated the late, great Ray Charles. A funny walk, a backside jerk and body mannerisms all included. Then it was the reincarnation of Joe Cocker, and Joe's trademark full torso mannerisms for a couple of weeks. The most recent weeks were visions of T. Cruise in Footloose. What would America do with another version of a desperate T. Cruise?

I think that was what the AI judges were saying tonight. Hicks can't continue to hide behind personalities from years gone by. Its not an impersonation contest. I think the judges are saying you have to deliver more than on stage theatrics and body jerks. Its funny to read some of the replies in defense of Hicks, depicting him as an original and unique. Fortunately for Hicks most of his fans have never heard of the acts or names of those he impersonates!

Its time for Hicks or Pickler to go, and get down to the 5th AI Winner who will sell records and has the voice to fill an album. I don't care which one or in which order, but both need to exit. Remember America, its a voice/singing competition. As much as I like the remaining 4, my money is on the one I think has proven over the last 6 weeks to possess the most versatile voice, the most controlled and the best range of all AI 5 contestants. And can we agree to send a collective message to the AI Producers and back the maximum qualifying age down to 25 years of age. It makes no sense to have contestants in thier upper Twenties that have been playing in thier own bands for 10 years to compete with others who are in thier late teens or early twenties who possess raw, unrehearsed talent..............Come on, two of the contestants either have gray hair or is partially bald. Give me a break. These contestants already have an idea of how to work an audience, and more importantly they should have already made thier mark. REDUCE THE MAXIMUM AGE BACK DOWN TO 25.

Let me start by saying I don't dislike Taylor. Having said that I want to address some of your points made in this Post.

First, he definitely is one of a kind when it comes to A.I. contestants. But he is far from being unique. See Micheal McDonald, and David Clayton Thomas, (Blood Sweat & Tears), Joe Cocker, Ray Charles.

I own his CD and he doesn't translate well performing in a studio.

The biggest part of his allure is "Watching" him while he sings. Take away the live factor and he becomes any Corner bar Blues singer on a Saturday night.

Finally he'll get a contract and I would imagine that he will have a consistent but not spectacular career. He'll do the mashed potato circuit, State Fairs, Festivals, Small venues of 2000 or less. He'll make a good living but he won't be a Star of large drawing power

guys, ive just logged into this forum, and i have been surprised by the amount of support for taylor hicks, so heres my view......he cant dance, his singing is average, his dress sense is terrible, and simon was right to slate him on his most recent performance, it was painful to watch and very dull
....best three are chris, catherine and kelly

paris is very young and will most likley have plenty of oppertunity in her growing years she has made it very far for age. mandisa had an incredible voice iwas surpized to see her go so soon,but as simion says someone has to go.kat i thinck she is just nervous,and trying to act mautre while on stage,in the beging she was always kinda crazy,and i bet if you got to know her shes probley has a really fun personality.and would alot,of fun.but tay my fav!

I think Taylor is slowly getting the axe from the producers of American Idol in what ever way they can, also Elliot. Last night it looked like the 2 were the top vote getters. How bout the judges me made to also apoligize to the other Idol performers that did not deserve it!!!!!! This is making me dislike Kathrine more and more as the weeks go on. She is too gloated all over herself, smiling up on stage last night even before the person was eliminated, no respect for the others.
