Jordin is so Overrated

I like Jordin and all, but she's only had like one really good performance and that's when she sang "I Who Have Nothing." On every other song, she always misses notes and her voice is really not that strong. I say this because the judges are so easy on her and almost never say anything bad about her vocals. With everyone else this season, the judges tell them the truth, but with Jordin, they hardly have anything bad to say. This season isn't great, but Jordin is getting a lot of credit for doing nothing. The real stars are Blake and Melinda and they will be the final two, not Blake and Jordin which I keep hearing about.

As you might have guessed, I'm going to have to disagree. Jordin is not overrated. If she would've competed last year, she would've gave Taylor and Kat a good run for their money. Although, I don't think she would've won. I think she could've finished second to Carrie the year before, and she definately could've beat out Fantasia the year before that.

The thing is about Jordin, is that she keeps improving with time. By the time she records her first CD, she'll be even better than she is now.

As far as being "pretty chunky", I beg to differ. I think she's pretty hot.

Tonight she sang what I predicted last week(Broken Wing) and gave everyone an a$$ woopin also as I predicted. Out of all the potential Martina McBride songs that the ladies could have sung, she was the only one with the guts to sing one in front of her...and impressed her. She just pulled away from the pack including Melinda Lakisha and Blake. Also, if you think she continually misses notes, then you're tone def. The girl has been singing on various TV shows since she was a pre-teen so the girl knows what she's doing and missing a note is not one of them.

I think at the top 6 level, they are all great entertainers. It is just that we have to get critical in order to whittle them down for elimination purposes. I think the order is as follows:

Jordin
Melinda
Blake
Phil
Lakesha
Chris

If you listen to their group songs, you can tell where the weak vocals come from and Chris is at the bottom with Jordin and Melinda basically carrying the group with some help from Lakesha and Blake. Phil is somewhere in between.

I think they are both talented but IF (big IF) either wins, they will disappear into oblivion. Jordin or Blake, on the other hand, will probably stand out more especially in the pop scene. Melinda and Lakesha just sound "old". I like them but will they appeal to the younger generation? Not so sure.

I totally agree especially with the "true pro" which is Melinda. It's down to the most marketable which doesn't always go the "pro". Luciano Pavarotti is a "pro" but I dont see him selling as many records as...lets say...Carrie Underwood (a relative ammature) during any given year. (disclaimer: Just an example with Pavarotti)

I agree. Jordin may "keep getting better" as she matures but this contest is NOW. Melinda is already there. She is by far and away the most talented and refined. Love that girl!!!

In what sense is Jordin the best there, if as you say she's not stronger than Melinda. It would make sense that the best singer should win, but in this case Melinda should win because she's simply the best. Of course this is no longer a singing competition, so you may have a point when you say America is gonna pick Jordin. However speak for yourself. I am voting for Melinda Doolittle to win. I don't think that the one with "the best voice" should win. I think the one with the most American Idol appeal should win. In my opinion, this means a good balance of voice, star appeal, entertainer, and stage presence should win. I think Andre Bocelli has a near perfect voice but would he make an ideal American Idol (assuming he was American)? Afterall, the definition of "Idol" says nothing about voice...just someone who is adored.

Actually, as AI finalists, they are expected to perform live quite often and if they want to promote their albums, they will go on tour which is live the last time I checked. That said, I dont think Melinda has a problem performing live and probably is the best live vocalist of the bunch. The question is, does she appeal to the masses and will those masses buy her tickets and her albums thereby making tons of $$ for the record label? It's my opinion that Jordin has her beat in that catagory. Again, I use the Andre Bocelli analogy. He has a near perfect voice but how is his stage presence and star appeal? Well, that happened once with Ruben winning it, and we see how that worked out. He wasn't a very good looking dude, but he had a great voice. Of course, Clay wasn't exactly model material either. There were much better looking people in the competition that year, but they had the two least attractive people in the final two, and Ruben, of course, eventually won it. People supposedly listened with their ears, and not their eyes. Of course, there was alot of Ruben to see, but that's a different story. LOL

After Ruben won, there wasn't much excitement about him, because he wasn't very marketable, and it affected sales. I don't think anything like that will ever happen again on Idol. Looks will always be a factor.

You know what is funny? I just read back through posts where you actually liked Jordin. I guess that was because it was before she beat out Melinda.

I have already said I don't hate Jordin! I just preferred Melinda and found her to be the better vocalist if you read back you will see that has always been the way I felt....With the exception of Phil who I supported due to the fact that I know the man I always preferred Melinda you on the other Hand were a Blake Lewis fan who made it to the final 2 and yet you never speak of him anymore....

oh, now just how could this country be any worse? A war with no end in sight? Gas prices driving this country into depression.....yes, you will see a hike in food and everything real soon......bush decided we should attack iraq right in the middle of sand storm season. our troops were stuck for months. bush could have at least used some common sense and not attack during the sand storms..

i dont think that Bush is doing a great job...i think that Kerry is smarter and he could've handled the WAR better than Bush. He keeps on sending troops...What is wrong with him??? Killing civilans IN IRAQ and killing american troops...i cant wait till he leaves...

Gas prices are high, however, that is not all due to the president. The Oil companies add in their hidden profits. Last night during the Roger Water's concert. Water's had a brilliant new song, very sad yet funny about Bush and the War. The lyrics were brilliant. I won't quote them out of respect of the Bush supporters here but it was a great song.
