Ryan mentioned last night that Simon commented on whom would be the final 3. Does anyone know who Simon picked.

Simon's considering the like-ability factor with the American audience.

Let's face it- they're ALL good singers. yes, even Kevin is a good singer. But to be able to tell the difference vocally between a good singer and an excellent singer is just not something America can really claim to have. A small percentage of us- either those involved in music or those who simply have a keen ear- can tell the difference between Kellie Pickler's shaky twang and Katharine's flawless transitions, so the vast majority are going to vote simply for what they remember.

- People vote for those who they think have remarkably better vocal ability.

- People vote for those they find physically attractive

- People vote for those whose stories or personality has touched them

- People vote for a prank sometimes or wish to ruin a competition.

- People vote for any number of reasons, which may or may not be related to vocals.


It's a fact. When you consider that competant, unbiased judges of vocal talent make up a small percentage of votes, it's easy to see why vocal talents like Jose Sway Penala are off the show so quickly. Their audience has a tough time distinguishing their talent, and the contestant themselves lack those other factors that make the "less-vocally inclined"m population cast a vote.

All three of these contestants that Simon has picked are HUGE in the like-ability factor. He doesn't claim that any of them are remarkable vocally, just that they have so much personality and character that the tone-deaf masses will pick them over refined vocal talent like Mandisa, Katharine, or Elliot.

Let's face it, Chris, Taylor, and Kellie have nowhere near the vocal range of the other three contestants I mentioned. They sing "well-enough". And coupled with like-ability, that's all America needs.

I never heard who he said was the finalist, but at this point no one knows not even Simon, America is the ones who decides.
I think Simon said things before he thinks about it like the comment he made about Mandisa, then he has to go back and suck up to them later. I don't think he really has favorites just has to stay on the good side so he doesn't get into any trouble for his mean comments. I think the three finalist should be Taylor, Paris, and Chris

Every year it seems that Simon's favorites get into the top 3 or even win like last year. He said Carrie was going to win before Hollywood week!
