Honestly, I don't think this year is any more of a "joke" than any other seasons. Howard Stern and VFTW have been out there in previous seasons of American Idol.

Sanjaya is no worse than certain other finalists from other seasons. (I actually don't think he's even the worst of this year's final 12--I give that award to Haley.)

His singing is not great, but it's not unlistenable. I believe some really narrow-minded people are trying to making him into a joke, based on lots of other prejudices having nothing to do with his singing.

Why do people compare a rock singer (Chris) to a blues/soul singer (Taylor)? You can't really say who is the best since its two different genres. I don't think the ones who didn't win are hurting for money either. Chris is doing a fantastic job with his rock band Daughtry. He was voted off and that's how it works. It was America that kicked him off!

It worked out better for Daughtry he didn't have to sign a ridiculous contract like Taylor did he has to give 35% of all money he ears to Simon Cowell..He does not get to decide what songs are put on his CD's..even when they put his own songs that he has already written and recorded they changed the arrangement and it's not as good.......

Because I couldn't stand to hear or watch the "bad" singers make fools of themselves on national TV. That's why they overplayed the bad audtions. Well folks, those millions of train wreck gawkers are watching now and they have Sanjaya to keep them entertained week after week. Quite right. Good auditions don't attract as much attention. This is all about money, thus attracting people, and people fall for this. Controversy is what makes people talk. And the fact that people talk about it, well, what better publicity could they wish for ? This doesn't cost them money.
As someone pointed out, the publicity made during AI is very high. So again, they are making money. Now you can download what you've seen on TV via the website... again money comes in... Do they really care if someone with real talent gets voted out... I guess you can fill that one in.

Now people start name calling, using bad language, conspiracy theories...
What people don't do is really take action.
You see, at my job, there is a department where the manager has her favorites. People get cried down, allthough those are the ones who do the most and best work. Lots of people talked to me, but none of them ever took action. The action to take is simple : go in group and talk to the HR-Manager. but again, people are afraid to take action.
If I have a problem, I go and see my manager and say what's on my mind.
One day, another department I used to work for, had problems with being paid correctly. They took action, they gave the HR Departmant a date for when everything had to be fixed. It wasn't. So in the middle of the day, they all put their phones on hold and ALL went together to see the management. Within the hour everything was fixed. What I do have to mention is : this department was a callcenter service. So many calls where in a waiting queue. Besides that, all the other departments, who also take calls, saw a group moving away.
Their action was noticed !

If I were in a competition and noticed that people would be treated unfairly, things would be simple : I'd quit. Apparantly people are afraid to do this. But it shows that you have self respect.

Now I don't have anything against anyone of them. Things are just being exploited here. All in the name of making money. They don't care who's being ridiculed or not. What matters at the end of the day is : money.

I think even Bucky and Paris(even though they had annoying regular talk) were by far on a better level than Taylor in singing. It is a shame that now people want to stop watching Idol and even hate Sanjaya when he is only a 17 year old kid and Taylor iwas nearly 30 years of age and acted more of a fool on stage than Sanjaya.

When I talk about class I mean this is a family show and showing off your body does not belong in this competition. LOL Taylor Hicks is the pride and glory of VFTW. I dont know why so many of you are angry with idol. You should have stopped watching when Taylor Hicks won AI5. There is no way that this years talent is even close to Daughtry or Yamin. Not only that but this year doesnt even have any sort of diversity unlike last year with Bucky/Pickler and the soul sisters.I even went back to last AI5 and I was more bewildered how Taylor even made it to top 10. He even did a performance where he did "wooo" like 15 times in a song. It was hilarious. And also he would pause between lyrics and people cheered him over the flawless performances of Yamin and Daughtry. Taylor was a stage clown more than anything else. I think even Bucky and Paris(even though they had annoying regular talk) were by far on a better level than Taylor in singing. It is a shame that now people want to stop watching Idol and even hate Sanjaya when he is only a 17 year old kid and Taylor iwas nearly 30 years of age and acted more of a fool on stage than Sanjaya.

I was a huge Taylor fan last year... I even said he would win on this site after the auditions. Multi-talented individual that was always fun to watch...which is more than you can say about any of the contestants this year other than Chris Sligh who, in my opinion, was prematurely voted off...

I agree on all counts. Sanjaya was terrible last night! He was really good last week......good for him of course. I wouldn't be suprised if he is finally in the bottom three tonight. I think Chris is the one who walks, but he might be there. As for the third bottom three contestant, I am torn between Phil, who has been consistently subpar, but rocked it last night, and Kiki, who has been consistently awesome, but fell short yestereve. I really like her, but I think Melinda and Jordin run vocal circles around her most of the time.

As far as Taylor, I still cannot stand him, and could care less if I ever hear of him again.:throwup:

I don't know whats going on with my Lakisha, I love her and think she CAN outsing everyone else. Her problem is, she will not pick the right song. Somehow I feel like she wants to be known for all types of music when really, she should stick to what she does best. If she did that, she'd still be on top.

Touche, LizzyJ. (HEHE, that rhymed) Perhaps I should have said that Jordin and Melinda can PERFORM circles around her. Both of those two have consistently been better, not always at singing, but always at song choice, poise on stage, presence on stage, etc. I think all three have pipes made of gold. I think when it comes down to it, Melinda is the most versatile, Jordin is the freshest and cutest (and, IMO, would be the most successful idol), and Lakisha, although amazing, is a one trick pony. I love her voice, but I cannot see myself buying her album or going to see her in concert.

The reason Taylor won is not because of VFTW, but because he had the support of millions of fans all over the world. Taylor was in Boston a few weeks ago at the Avalon and it was sold out! Are you saying that all his fans are just following a clown? The difference between Taylor and Sanjaya is that Taylor Hicks is multi-talented. He can sing dance and play musical instruments. Taylor's entertainment is the reason why so many individuals watched idol last year. He had the whole package. If his record doesn't go platinum, then he can make money at concerts. So all is not lost.
