Phil and Gina were the ones that stood out the most for me tonight. I really agree that this was Phil's best performance. Sanjaya did good with the No Doubt tune. I love a good performer as much as a good singer. Melinda, Lakeyshia, Jordin are all very good singers. I wasn't crazy about the performances though. I think they were just alright. Chris Sligh should've sang another song in my opinion. Blake and Chris R were very boring and that doesn't really surprise me. Chris R shouldn't have sang No Doubt's best song. I thought it was a disaster. Haley wasn't anything special either tonight. She really hasn't impressed me at all. I think she should be a front runner to go home tomorrow night.

Haley's a front runner behind Chris Sligh & Sanjaya. Who will go home tonight? Chris Sligh. He received the worst criticism from the judges in three years, & he has been too arrogant in the early portion of the competition.

Sanjaya will not become a big star. People may think he is cute & adorable now, but I doubt the number of people willing to shell out money to buy his CD's or attend solo shows will be large enough to keep any record producer in the lifestyle in which they have become accustomed. What people here don't seem to understand is that the record industry is a business, & producers like funding sure bets. Sanjaya is too big a monetary risk to warrant spending the money needed to make him sound good.

William Huang is only a novelty. You won't see William Huang receiving a Grammy, & you will not see bad wedding singers do covers of William Huang songs.
People like William Huang & Sanjaya are similiar to dancing bears. People don't go to the circus to see bear dance well; they watch because bears dance at all.

Chris Sligh isn't arrogant at all. He simply tells it like it is and that infuriates Simon.

Sanjaya is getting cocky...i guess he does know that no matter how bad he sings, he's never gonna get booted off...But I think he does know that he's never going to win...So he's being cocky now when he's at the top of the world...
If Sanjaya wins, AI should shut down...

I don't think the producers of the show will let San-J win. They know they can't make any money off of him. He is still there for the same reason Taylor Hicks won last year--VFTW is behind him. But he also has a huge, diverse fan base of teenagers, gays, Indians, Muslims, and everyone else who thinks he's cute. Even the cabbies are talking about him.
And I agree Chris Sligh came off as arrogant and cocky. It cost him.

Any celebrity Sanjaya possesses at the moment is due to Idol having him on TV every week & all the water cooler chatter discussing how crappy he performs. He will fizzle very fast, & I doubt that anyone fronts enough money to come out with a CD. He might be asked to sing for the opening of a new Wal-Mart here & there, but that's it. Hair appeal just doesn't have much of a half-life.

You opinion is valid, and I won't take any bets on how well he does on the show or after. I am baffled. But hair appeal helped Billy Ray Cyrus. (having a great arse didn't hurt either.) It helped every single band in the 80's. Some of those no talents made huge amounts of money.
I'm just saying, it can happen, has happened, may well happen with our li'l hamsammich.
