Clay Aiken is from my hometown. If American Idol had a Best of the Best DVD Clay's performances would be in them. I was really moved by his version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water". He might not be the top seller but his voice is amazing. I'm not even a pop music fan but i recognize talent when it's in front of me.

Isn't Clay Atkin that guy that says you can eat all the bacon fat you want but a grain of flour will make you blow up like a chubby balloon?

You have some nerve! When exactly on American Idol, has Clay Aiken not been a good singer?
I think your post demonstrates the problem the show faces. Apparently looks are distracting you and others from the voice. So even though Clay always had a fantastic voice, you just couldn't hear that because you were focused on his nerdy look. In the case of Sanjaya, you see the look and have no clue whether his voice is good or bad.
I think you're falling into the trap that a lot of the Sanjaya fans have fallen into. In their case they love his look, and so think he is a great contestant, not really discerning the truth of his voice.

Clay would be in my top 5 contestants to be on American Idol. He really wins me over when he sings "oldies". As i've said im not really crazy about the pop scene.

I agree, even Simon was surprised by Clay at his first audition when he peformed 'Always and Forever'. Neil Sedaka even said that 'I've lost my song forever to you' when Clay performed 'Solitaire' critiques like that don't happen to everyone. Takes a special kind of talent to make somebody say something like that.
 Clay at first was a nerd and could not sing..look how he improved and how far he got!

Sanjaya is a novalty who is an average singer. Clay was a good singer who was nerdy. I do not see Sanajaya singing a song like Bridge Over Toubled Water half as well as Clay. I think Sanjaya will be gone in the next two weeks.
Just my opinion.

Definitely, Sanjaya is an average singer, who may improve with vocal training in the future. I don't know about Sanjaya leaving in two weeks, he's extremely popular with the teeny boppers. I think he may stay this week, because he doesn't need much effort to sing a Tony Bennett song really. So another outrageous hairstyle and average singing will keep him in another week.

 Clay Aiken was a nerd but he could always sing. That's what shocked the judges when they first saw him. You must have him mixed up with someone else. Sanjaya is a joke and unfortunately is going to cause people to stop watching the show. Ten year old little girls are voting for him because they think he is something that he isn't. He's just a cute little boy.

We out here are old enough to know when someone is lacking talent and that would be Sanjaya. I can see from other idol fans that they feel the same way. You seem to be alone on your quest to vote for the worst, which you obviously are doing. As far as Jordin being the same age..
#1 she has talent #2 she handles herself in a much more mature way. Who would say to Simon that he was just jealous because he couldn't wear his hair that way. Who else, Sanjaya. What a silly little boy. If you think he has a "great voice" you must also be tone deaf.

The difference is Sanjalmi does not even come close to the talent that Jordin has....
To be fair, 17-year-old boy singers almost never sound nearly as mature as 17-year-old girl singers. Lots of people picked on Kevin Covais last year, but for a sixteen-year-old boy, he was exceptionally good.
Sanjaya isn't bad either, for a 17-year-old boy. He will undoubtedly sound better and totally different in four or five years.

1) He has talent:mad:
2)Hes not acting immature
What's so immature about Sanjaya's comment to Simon? Several contestants have snapped at Simon, and insulted his sense of style! Teasin him about being jealous wasn't childlike. With all the insults he was getting from Simon, he was just showing him that he coundn't hurt his confidence!:p ...and who hasn't done that to Simon, regardless of age?

...so, when you (not you in particular, you in general)say he's a little immature kid, you're refering to his voice, not him?
is it really fair to say he's more childish, just because his voise isn't as strong?:(
I thought you were talking about character.

As an old lady, I can assure you that sanjaya IS a sweet little boy. He evokes matronly instincts in anyone over the age of 21. It is just who he is, he may never ever ever lose that sweetness, I kind of hope not because that is part of what makes him who he is.
Imagine, if sanjaya became a sexy hunk, instead of a sweet boy, what would we get?
