Lakisha Jones is in a class all her own when it comes to any of the other competitors on American Idol. Melinda is a distant second, but Lakisha has the pipes and the personality to be the next Idol. She is a sweet girl who deserves this. You go Lakisha!!!!!!!

No miracle needed, this girl just needs to keep doing what she's doing. The stupid voting system bothers me though. It just depends who has no life and can keep hitting redial longer than others........

I agree with the voting being a huge problem. How legit is it when you can vote as many times as you like. Thats why I think when all is said and done that the producers and creators of the show actually pick the winner. Anything else is just bogus.
I dont think Lakisha has a good enough image to be the winner. Mellinda is being sold as the sweet one with her crying after each performance so Lakishas chances arent real good. There cant be two heavy set black contestants and at some point Lakisha will be voted off.

Although I do agree that Melinda is talented as well, I think that your stand is valid, but what do you think about them marketing Lakisha as a brave single mother that is trying to provide a good life for her daughter. That hook can't hurt her along with the fact that her talent is outstanding. Also, to be honest, not to be argumentative, I realize that Melinda is really being touted as a sweet girl and have no doubt that she is, but I haven't been all that impressed with her vocal ability. She is good, but in my opinion not as good as Lakisha. I also have doubts about anyone who has already sang professionally doing as well as an amateur in the peoples minds, and Melinda has been singing professionally for some time, Lakisha hasn't. Another reason that Lakisha may come out on top even with the faulty voting system is because she is the underdog here, and fighting for her daughter and all amateurs so to speak. Can you see what I'm getting at? No matter what the outcome though, it will be sure to come down to these two girls towards the end.

Frank, I am going to break my rule just this once that people like you are just unhappy souls who don't deserve a response. She is a talented person, and the last time I checked a good voice really has nothing to do with how you look. A little therapy may be in order bud, it sure couldn't hurt.

Sounds good, I really like reading all the posts here. The only thing I can't get a grip on is that people say Lakisha and Melinda are big girls. Lakisha is certainly, but Melinda doesn't seem that way to me. She may not be a size 4, but how many of us are in real life?

Melinda is still the best female. Her new hair seemed to give her more of a neck, her V-neck top was the right idea even if a bit odd in design, and I thought she did quite well.

LaKisha is very good, but to me she is not as good as Melinda. Every week except the first one, Melinda has beaten LaKisha. Melinda is just much more professional, maybe she has had more training, but she is just not an amateur.

"Diamonds are Forever" wasn't a stunning choice tonight although Lakisha did a credible job. I just think that Melinda did better.

Lakeyshia is the better performer from what i've seen. Melinda does that stupid cutesy act and quite frankly it's getting annoying. They both need to watch out for Jordin Sparks! I swear that little girl is really giving them some competition.

Melinda may be a good singer, but do you actually believe she deserves to win. I mean she has had the training. She only needs the right connections. If she got kicked of today, you would see her as a lead singer somewhere. As for the other, they deserve a chance to learn and better themselves, to make it all the way. Except for Sanjuya, he has no talent and must go.

And as a backup singer she's had to stand in the background while producers etc. tell the 'star' how great they are, with nary a word in her direction. Now people are telling her how great she is and it's a new paradigm for her.

Lakisha still has the best pipes though. I definately agree with that. I'm still waiting for a versatile singer and i haven't seen that this year. It seems to me the singers are sticking with what's comfortable to them. Watch out for Bon Jovi night!

I believe all the girls are sticking in their comfort zone. I've not seen one break away from their own style. There just aren't any versatile singers on American Idol this year. They will all have to work extra hard on Bon Jovi night.

Hey, I agree. Why should Melinda even be in this competition? She has the talent to make it on her own and should. But Lakisha should win by all means. But I think the voting is an issue and someone will win with no talent. Just like last year. There was much better singers than Taylor. They say it is about like ability. But everything changes when they become stars, you do not see the real them.

I've never been one to jump on the bandwagon. I'm capable of forming my own opinions about someone. Jordin and Lakeyshia are just as good as Melinda from what i've seen. I'm also impressed that Gina is still hanging in there.
